Solving the treasure hunt was fun and not too complicated, but without the guide, I would never have figured out the "fun" event.

I second this, honestly prefer to use a guide because I hate having to run in circles in a visual novel format

yeah I usually use the guide overall in all of these chapters to have the best outcome, but the treasure hunt overall was easy, however I do agree without the guide I wouldn't have found the "fun" event either.

I followed the guide and still couldn't get it to work. I played from a save. Do I have to play from the beginning for it to work?

Same. I thought I ran through every option at every stage, but it turns out I didn't once I saw this and went back to the guide XD Defintely glad I got to see that Bonus Scene ;)
