So just to cover a few things; Danny’s major flaw both as a person and as a character is that the dude was sort of robbed of his childhood because of the plain crash that killed his parents and left him to be raised by some rigid ass monks who beat him with sticks. This kind of messed up his emotional development as a kid and it really plagues him until the end of his show. His character arc is overcoming that flaw as well as his trauma and becoming the fully realized Immortal Iron Fist. At the time of the Defenders he still has a long way to go. It definitely doesn’t always make for an enjoyable character. The Iron Fists are not reincarnated, it is instead a title and ability passed down to those worthy enough to face Shao Lao the Undying (the Dragon). You’ll notice that a lot of the Iron Fist mythos was used in Shang Chi. Hidden pocket dimension city/realm, mystical martial arts, and dragons. Other stuff; Luke Cage was a marine and a cop in his past. The scenes with Luke and Danny mirror their partnership from the comics. And Elektra does have superhuman abilities after becoming the resurrected Black Sky.
