We’ve usually had the Jedi Hero POV of the fascist Empire often seen as bumbling in StarWars. Andor shows us through the eyes of the ordinary oppressed citizen and the Empire’s authoritarian effect on them: The Empire is absolutely terrifying‼️ Andor is a masterpiece series.

This show is really flexing in how well it manipulates the viewers feelings toward the character by adding new layers over the course of the series. Syril, basically an overzealous mallcop on a backwater planet, turns out to also be the worst possible toxic simp with that stalks Dedra because he fetishizes her for her pursuit of Andor Dedra - an underdog we root for at first, being competent and a woman in an ISB full of stuffy, complacent men. Turns out she’s cool using the screams of dying alien children to torture Bix, which means we’ve been rooting for a stone cold bitch

I love that we see innovative torture methods in andor. In basically every other media that shows the empire torturing people it is always with this torture-ball-droid thing as an easteregg to episode 4. having just one method of investigating torture is just super lame for such an universaly hated empire. This method is cruel cunning und brutal, and on the other hand efficient and easy to use.

And although the ball-droid wasnt in the torture scene, we still got our episode4 easter egg. When bix gets tortured and the camera wents out of the door it pends down and followed then the feet of the officer walking by. That exact composition was also used with leia beeing tortured in ANH.
