Since nobody has said anything about it yet, the reason you were thinking some of this stuff had already been talked about or known is because this episode was actually supposed to air before 3x03, but the effects for the timeline stuff weren’t finished yet. So you get things like the joke at the beginning about whether the apartment number is 303 or 304 (about the season and episode number), Pierce talking about Eartha Kitt last episode and then acting like he’s bringing it up for the first time here, Shirley in the last episode talking about Britta’s “marijuana lighter.” Stuff like that.
