Subscribestar Poll Results and Future Plans For Patreon (Patreon)
Content
The results from the recent poll to move to subscribestar are in, it's unanimous, and I won't be abandoning Patreon.
HOWEVER...
I will change how I upload game updates to Patreon.
One of the main reasons I wanted to move over to Subscribestar was because of a huge flaw/exploit in the "Per Creation" billing schedule. On the surface, "Per Creation" only charges patrons at the end of the month if I've made paid content, seems fair, that's why I selected it, but there's a whole lot more to it and I don't recommend it to any game dev creators out there.
I don't wanna get into too much detail on it but essentially, people would take tier benefits and then not get charged at the end of the month, leading to very huge losses for me, especially in Patron count. We should be over 50 by now, but due to people either exploiting the flawed "Per Creation" billing system or whatever reason, there has been no visible growth since March, despite all the effort I've been putting into creating new content and promoting my Patreon page.
I understand a lot of you prefer Patreon so I will continue to post game updates here on Patreon, but only through DMs and to only to Patrons who have been successfully charged in the past.
Here's a list of all the Patrons who qualify for the DM updates
Maikel Uwland Dan birr Austin G Gruver mark peterson Marquesas Joseph Alex Grochmal Napier Dalator'e Joshua Bernhard Sean Cody Vanlandingham Dave Crescendo john guul Mark Dempsey Kevwill Rodger Treadwell karl Johnson maggimesti Indi Champ John123
Others/New Patrons (IMPORTANT!!!)
For others, especially new Patrons, first of all, welcome, and apologies for this weird circumstance and inconvenience, but I highly encourage you to move your subscription to Subscribestar where you will be charged monthly and receive all updates through posts as originally intended.
If you would like to continue your support on Subscribestar, I recommend moving before the 11th of May when I release a paid post, as you will be charged at the end of the month for the paid content you've already received on Patreon, and then will gain access to new Patreon updates starting next month (June), and only after your payment has been confirmed.
This is the best solution I can come up with since I can't switch my billing schedule from "Per Creation" back to "Per Month". I spoke with Patreon about it and they said they'd help, but it's been weeks of back and forth and honestly, there's a high chance it'll never happen.
At least the main supporters of the game who prefer Patreon can stay and receive updates through DMs. And newcomers can be charged as intended over on Subscribestar.
This has all been a huge hassle for me, but Patreon has really twisted my arm. I just wanna go back to only thinking about creating new content for the game instead of constantly being distracted and worrying about problems like these. There will most likely be only 1 update this month because of this hassle, which is a huge setback for me.
I hope you understand, and Thank you all for your continued support, whether here on Patreon or Subscribestar.
Love,
MetalB 💜
