Hello and happy October!I've been working for weeks, if not months, on this project and it's probably the last ‘ambitious’ video of the year. I don't think I've ever done anything ‘creepy’ (well... slightly creepy) and I really wanted to try this genre. I drew inspiration from at least 15 different movies, whether it was a general atmosphere or a single shot! (how many can you spot? 😋)Although some aspects of the roleplay didn't turn out as I'd hoped and are a bit disappointing for me (the writing here has a lot of weaknesses), I'm delighted to have finally been able to complete it with the outdoor scenes I wanted to include.

For reasons unknown, the audio quality isn't really great on this one and lacks warmth (and don't forget to turn the Youtube "stable volume" off!), sorry about that, but I hope you'll find it tingly anyway. As often I will provide a no intro / no outro / no music version on Sunday, and here on Patreon the MP3 versions of the latest videos.Sleep well... I hope 🙂And enjoy your Samhain / Halloween / All Saints Day!Quick note: the editing was a bit tricky at some points. If you see anything wrong, don't hesitate to let me know!

Diane, you are too hard on yourself! You always make magic ✨

Mariah Huehner

This is better than many full length films. Incredible!

Belles Cuisses D'Homme

Charlotte Perez

Wow. Your attention to detail is awesome this is as good as any movie. Beautifully crafted. ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

JoannaG

I love it! My favorite videos seem to be the ones that you self-criticize the most! lol It is a masterpiece! Thank you 💜💜💜

Maylis

Patricia Hennigan

I feel asleep for most of it, but should the last segment be black with just audio? After the dinghy comes up to the beach?

Morganna

Beautiful video once again. Around 28:38 the background sound disappears for a second or so. I assume the black screens for a few seconds at 32:22 and at the end are deliberate? The transitions are a bit abrupt. Especially the one at 32:37.

moonlightcottageASMR

Thank you Erin. I guess that's part of the "game", sometimes I'm happy with the result, sometimes I wish I could do certain parts over again! 😉

moonlightcottageASMR

Thank you! That would make sense, sometimes I also feel like that the ones I like best are the ones that are least appreciated 😆 C'est la vie!

moonlightcottageASMR

Merci beaucoup Maylis ! 😁

moonlightcottageASMR

Yes, it's just a sort of soundscape/ambience as a transition to sleep for the viewer, I often add this at the end of roleplays 🙂 (submarine at the end of a steampunk RP, horses after a medieval RP etc...). Although there is one short scene showing the characters getting into the dinghy first. Thank you !

Patricia Hennigan

Thanks for that info. I'm usually asleep by then! 😄

moonlightcottageASMR

Thank you Morganna. 28:38? I've listened to this segment several times but I don't hear any sound stopping, do you mean the fire sounds or something? 🤔 Yes, the sudden black at 32:22 is deliberate, and you're right about 32:37, a slow fade would have been better... but then I'd be seen tripping 😅

Morganna

Yes, I mean the fire sound in the background. That bit sounds a bit weird to me. Like you're suddenly in a soundproof studio doing a voice-over if you understand what I mean. Tripping. Oops. 😅 Yes that explains the hard cut.

Scott Farley

I was nailed to my chair. Sometimes I gush a lot about your videos so I will just say, It's great.

moonlightcottageASMR

Hmmm I will listen to this bit again with my headphones tomorrow while watching carefully my timeline (I'm not near my computer right now), it's weird I don't hear this! Thinking about it a bit more, I'm definitely going to try a smoother transition for the last shot though. Thank you for always being so attentive, it means a lot!

Morganna

Oops, it's about 18:38, maybe closer to 18:37, my mistake. Just after "naval campaign". And I did use headphones.

Maylis

Simply Rachael Studios

I LOVED this one! Not that I don't love all of them. But the subtle spooky vibes were *chefs kiss*

Laura Jayne Roberts

Honestly Diane, I have no words that I feel are adequate to express your talent. I love this. I love your channel. I love everything. Bravo xxx

JPDotCom23

I just love watching your videos, more specifically for your hands, you have great hands for asmr

Elizabeth Brown

I have a couple behind the scenes questions! I've noticed a few of your videos are lush forest or beautiful ocean cliffs, do you live near them or do you travel for the videos? Was this set built in your studio because it looks so real ( though.. all of them them look real). I've watched every single video you've created and I've loved and rewatched every single one. You are so amazing 👏

Marge Ramsey

So many feelings!! This transported me immediately ….such attention to each detail! The fire, candles blowing, and glowing brighter..the pen sounds on paper….teacup ….pouring and stirring…your whispers. The cliffs and ocean…so many vibes! Yes, some spooky elements but not scary which is perfect. The empty dingy, and the look on your face, both fearful and hopeful at the same time was stunningly brilliant!!! Of course, like all your videos, I don’t want them to end, but each time it leaves me hoping for a sequel! I guess I just like closure lol! You never disappoint Diane. Every video has something for someone, so there isn’t a single one that I can say didn’t satisfy! You tend to water down your talent of writing, but sometimes the best part about a writer is that they give just enough information to allow the reader, or in this case, the viewer, to make up or fill in their own plot. And that takes extreme imagination and creativity, so own it! I’ll be watching this one a number of times for sure! Bravo!!

Paulina Luczynska

Incredible. A perfect subtle ghost story. Thank you!

moonlightcottageASMR

moonlightcottageASMR

Oh you're perfectly right! In fact, I seem to have shifted part of the sound of the fire, leaving a gap here. Thank you so much!

moonlightcottageASMR

Thank you so much Elizabeth! Yes, I live in a beautiful area of France with many different landscapes (Bretagne / Brittany). I live near a forest, but my grandmother's house, which is still in the family, is a little further away, near beautiful cliffs and beaches, so I go there regularly :) And yes, all my sets are built in my studio (except a very few ones like those with a real fireplace).

Jake Field

Indeed. Do not be hard on yourself Diane. You are a very talented and inspirational person. I adore your videos and always look forward to them. I loved the Celtic style effect at the beginning and thought for a moment you were going to be pushed over the cliff thus setting the scene as you yourself being the spirit. I disagree about you having not done anything creepy or scary. Madame Dumais was deliciously Machiavellian. Your facial expressions at many points were superb here too, especially near the end when spying the rowing boat. That was genius. It is always difficult when you know what you want in a creation but can't quite get the effect you are looking for. This is not a criticism from me, just a reaction to what you yourself said in the intro. As I said earlier. You are an amazing creator. 💖

moonlightcottageASMR

Thank you Jake. Yes I had a bit of trouble with the storyboard for my intro and I'm prepared to read a few comments from people who thought the character was about to.... jump ^^' I've never seen Madame Dumais as creepy but... why not? 😄 Anyway, thanks for your support, and I don't think I'm being particularly hard on myself, I just recognise the disappointment when it's there, as well as the joy when I manage to achieve what I had in mind, which fortunately happens often enough! :) (and I'm always happy to get constructive criticism, so never hesitate!)

Jake Field

Madame Dumais gave some scary looks, especially when she wanted to make a point. From a personal perspective I could never tell if she was joking or not. That added to her character mystery and depth. She always reminded me of a teacher I once had who demonstrated a similar look. She was a good teacher but could be scary in that way as well. 😊xx

KatStar13

I loved this one. It was extra tingly and as always your attention to detail and creativity is aamazing.

Triple Crescent Studios

Seriously the videography in this is amazing. The cuts are great and tell the story perfectly. When the candle goes out and you turn your head. The bump with the teacup. You just get better and better.

Kelci Swain

I loved the scenery outside in this one! The unintelligible whispers are always my favorite, so those were extra tingly for me! You are so talented and make really high quality videos. Better than some movies in my opinion!

Amanda

Absolutely stunning! It made for an interesting situation where I was far to creeped out to sleep, but also so relaxed from the video. Two questions if I may: How did you film the ship graveyard? It can’t be a real place, or? Secondly, how did you make it so that the tea did not touch the islands on the map?

moonlightcottageASMR

Thank you Erica! Yes I liked this bump with the teacup, it was some kind of nod to Jurassic Park I guess :p

moonlightcottageASMR

Thank you Amanda! The ship graveyard is a real place! But it was a bit difficult to film there because the wrecks are much more recent than you'd think (most of them date from the 1940s/50s/60s) and there's a lot of graffiti... So I had to carefully choose the framing ! 😄 And about the paper: a simple trick here, I rubbed the islands parts with a piece of rapeseed candle :)

Indoora World 🍂 The Cottage Library

Oh my, I can’t believe I missed this post! I’m going to watch this tonight. 🤎 I love your videos so much that if there was something wrong I wouldn’t notice it. For me your work is beyond everything!

Votre soutien me va droit au coeur :)

Shannen L

My brain’s neurons were surely regenerated during this magnificent cinema. Such tingles! Especially during the whispering crystal and map selecting. Your hard work pays off, giving such delightful healing qualities. As to your written introduction, as the artist of course you’re going to notice the little things. And I guess those who are in theatre/cinema might notice the things you point out, but to me this work is flawless! Thank you for the cinéma and the tingles. You help me to rest my thoughts. And that’s a big deal for me.

Ro Schum

Brilliant, this was a masterpiece- as always. But this one was so very special so well orchestrated! The end gave me the chills …

Jennifer K Sanford

Beautiful❤️ I am so happy to be a part of your world!

Amanda

That is so cool, what an intimidating place! Thanks for sharing the trick with the wax

Cat B

I loved this video so much it inspired me to support you in Patreon after subscribing on YouTube for years, really love your content and hope a bit of support will lead to more incredible videos like this one!

Elsie

Diane - I don't know if you will ever see this but I was just rewatching and noticed another 'audio jungle' sound mark when the clock chimes at 17:35. I'd never noticed before as it's so faint! Not sure if you can still edit the video as it's already uploaded to YouTube 😫 but it's barely noticeable anyway

moonlightcottageASMR

Hi Elsie! Thank you so much again for your attention to this. Unfortunately, once it's released on YouTube, I can no longer edit it. The only thing I can do is cut this section—which might look a bit weird—but that would mean all the subtitles would be out of sync 😑 I'm afraid I'll have to leave it as is. My only consolation is that no one has mentioned it before, so let's hope it still goes unnoticed in the future 🤷. Now I'm trying to have my husband watch every video to ensure I've replaced all the preview audio-marked files with the final versions. Thanks again!

Elsie

I thought that would be the case but thought I would mention it just in case. It is so quiet I'm sure no one heard it - I only noticed when wearing headphones.
