On the elections sponsored by comment: I used to work in DC when I was more hopeful about the ability of DC to do something for the hood, at the time I described my workplace as the liberal Cambridge Analytica. At that time someone that I worked with left to start a company in Spain with the goal of essentially Americanizing elections across the EU, meaning making them more dependent on money and data. The person that championed funding this was one of those people in DC that can siphon money from non-profits and unions and other into the most random dystopian little projects.

For anyone who really wants to understand what is going on in The Philippines and really everywhere I recommend the book Gold Warriors by Sterling and Peggy Seagrave and the whole WACL series on The Farm. You can't say Marcos/WACL/Moonies/Old Boys/Iran Contra/The Enterprise without saying Golden Lily & Black Eagle Trust.
