Rrr sas

Crazy heartbreaking to listen to this now. You have to do a long COVID ep and have Sam Rhodes on.

Jim Rossi

*assess. asses would be cool too, but I thought Brace broke up with Liz Warren?

Spooooooky

Asses? Hell yeah brother

Dustin Balloun

Here for the insightful commentary, sticking around for the asses. Xoxo

Jimothy Realname

Guys! I got it! I got the 'roni! I'm having mild shortness of breath and muscle aches!

Lana Kay

All that damn vocal fry, can young Chomsky edit that out??

Andrew P.

Fuck what movie is the music from when Brace is talkin about the psych ward at like 8:00 min. Sounds so familiar

Shiv

Should we do this as a bit? Ahhhh. Adorable

Jon Spiegler

I really appreciate the 3 of you.

Ira Lewy

Liz is right in her conclusions and wrong in her historical analysis. Don’t kill the boomers. But no they didn’t stop a country from being nuked.

Ira Lewy

Adam Curtis film. Either hypernormalization or power of nightmares

LANCE UPPERCUT

Everyone should buy a gun and become familiarized with firearms and safety. Better to have it and not need it. Be Safe people and call ur mama like mr T said

Andrew P.

Ahhhh! The power of nightmares, yes!

Katelyn Page

I love this podcast more and more. It’s weirdly relaxing to not feel like the most paranoid person in the world 😂

TrueAnonPod

it is mentioned in several kissinger biographies that kissinger talked nixon down because he said he would "lose the country" — there were weekly bombings in major cities. they absolutely stopped vietnam from being wiped out sry

Sebastian

I really needed this today; I feel kinda sick and in a high risk group 😢 kinda scary; also not sure what to do I'm taking my dog out but there are so many people out and about in Los Angeles 😟

Brendan Deery

Great show really insightful and I am hopeful that a better future is coming if we band together and make it happen.

Ira Lewy

Don’t be sorry. I’m familiar with two instances of proposed nuclear weapons strikes in Vietnam one in 1954 and one at the battle of khe San. Further more they did kill 4 million North Vietnamese and conventional bomb the hell out of the country. Plus Nixon won two elections I think you might be over emphasizing the size of the anti war movement. The choice to not use nuclear weapons I would think has more to do with China and the USSR than domestic instability. But give me your sources and I’ll be happy to change my mind and admit I’m wrong.

Dustin Balloun

Brace - pls tell us more about the possible plot lines. It would seriously help with my anxieties.

Ian B

Thanks for the Eno background.

Ian B

It's a big ship.

Michael Barbarich

Whelp, I'm a teamster production worker in an industry that cannot pause for long. My plant has several D.O.D. contracts and we can't halt food production indefinitely. I may be a smoker and on the wrong side of 40, but I've been shelled and shot at, driven off a cliff in Herzegovina, and grew up as the weird friendless foriegn kid in the howling wilderness of Michigan's upper peninsula. I'll survive one way or another. I've got an autistic 4 year old who absolutely needs me, so wish me luck y'all. If any of you find yourself up shit creek in central Wisconsin, look me up. I'll be there for ya.

TrueAnonPod

Brother I’m with you all the way. I Was an ILWU production worker until very recently and while our shit was not necessary for life to function (though it was beer so some May take issue with that). You need anything send us a message

Joshua Dubler

Really appreciate you all for this conversation. Most useful conversation I've heard to date about the virus. You might consider making it public?

Aubrey Graves

honestly this is becoming my favorite podcast. I think we’re past the final seal.

Dearl Venneder

Holy shit Brace go off what the fuck

Himbo Slice

Boomers fragged their c.o.'s and stole helicopters to drop anti war leaflets, while simultaneously accurately broadcasting the brutal and cruel reality that was the Vietnam war, it is only because of the complicity of the modern media that wars like Afghanistan have been allowed to continue for 20 years, US regression is the only constant

Angus Shaw

This has really steeled me against my ‘formless fear of the future’ as Brace put it. We are all so reliant on each other, that is more obvious now that even before. Amazing podcast all three of you. Brace would you consider putting up the thing you read at the end in text form? I really want to show some friends.

Steve Cum

Hope you’re all safe and healthy ❤️

Flaccid Angel

Fired this bad boy up and knew right from the start yung Chomsky was wearing a fresh fit. You just hear it in the audio

TrueAnonPod

This is basically it but decided some of it was too corny while I was reading it

TrueAnonPod

In a way this is the easiest apocalypse in history. Almost Everyone is still alive. There’s food delivery. Online gaming is still intact, you can still call strange women beautiful by dint of an app. I can listen to the doors, fuck a girl who has showered, shower myself, take my medication and call the police. But there’s a pressure rising. It’s like we’re engaged in a forced march up some steep incline, but we haven’t gone too far yet, we can still turn our necks and don’t even have to strain to see the ground, the painted rooftops, the streets—our old lives. If we look up though, we’re met with a hell of a mountain—one that’s it’s all covered in an opaque fog. We don’t see how high it goes. We know, though, that should we continue upwards, the air will start to thin; in fact, this already started. There’s a certain hysterical quality to all our interactions these days. Speech is clipped or expelled too quickly. We’re sweatier than usually. I can admit to you that I’m a little giddy, and all of us, I think, have a pit in our stomach from nervous anticipation of unknown heights. To stick with this for a second—I can’t I’m much of a traditional mountaineer. I’ve never scaled any heights like this before. This is different than guns or drugs, or crying women throwing me out or sheer terror at possible consequences. This is the first thing that all of us have really faced together. It’s the big zit we can’t try to ignore. Beautiful. Beautiful! In the weeks and months after this you are going to witness amazing things and things that make you puke. You might know tremendous loss and sorrow or light headed ecstasy and new kinds of love. Or it might just be a tremendous pain in the ass. don’t know. I know history is happening. I do know that our whole lives, every second, have led to this moment. That’s true whether we want it or not. For me I know that my years spent in institutions, in cages, in bathrooms that mimicked cages injecting myself with poisonous liquids—all that has led to this. I will freely admit that I have suffered a lot; I understand a little bit the reasons for that now. But more than that I understand it’s possible to live under any kind of condition. The only thing that makes it easier is to try and look it in the eyes.

Varjon

one thing i think a lot of people are overlooking in their doomerism though is that there are effective treatments in the pipeline. cloroqinine could have up to a 75% success rate on hospitalized patients. if we can get 75% of the 20% that get hospitalized out, we've moved this from world changing crisis to a mere pain in the ass. that buys us a lot of time to get a vaccine made, which WILL happen (there's as close to a 100% chance of it as there is of anything), but is going to take a year. dont let down your guard yet, none of this stuff is here yet, but it is most certainly coming, and it will make things better when it gets here.

Anya

Thanks for this. I'll take the TrueAnon promise to be strong and and stay curious.

Johan

MAYBE PRETTY IMPORTANT: french health ministry said that anti inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen, cortisone, Advil and motrin(dont know tf that is) as it could worsen the infection. If you get a fever, use paracetamol which should not have this effect. And, Brace, Im right there with you on feeling weirdly invigorated by all this..

Joe Howden

Yung Chomsky’s fits are the only thing keeping society from crumbling rn

N.L. Ington

Yeah I read that too. Paracetamol and acetaminophen correct?

tabbyswipe

I work in d.c. for an important institution and we are preparing for the long haul canceling events as far out as July and August but beyond that we have no timeline

Marshia

iirc paracetamol is acetaminophen

casey

kiss kiss

Thanks so much for the past two episodes. I'm housebound with my sad and angry 8 year old who doesn't understand why her world has turned upside down and she can't see her friends or go to school. I'm trying to stay positive for her but it is so hard. Thank you for helping me not give into despair

mrakobesiye

I'm home with a newborn and have been listening to true anon during 1am and 4am feeds. So be proud You're helping prevent postpartum depression in a high risk mother -- I'm very grateful

Nandikesha

Love you guys. Thanks for helping keep us sane through all of this.

gus

Currently in self isolation due to a cold. It looks like my 2 jobs won't be around for much longer and people around me are panicking. Watching the world go by from my room, but you two have helped so much. Things won't be so bad, stay close to your friends and your family. Much love from Australia xxx Gus

D.G. Stone

Hey love you guys, “figurative Brace “ I am not your typical demographic 66 years old, live in north Georgia. I’ve been supporting Bernie since “16”and will util he’s not. I totally understand other generations being pissed at boomers. I’m DSA member Brace. We’re isolating here as well.

Frederick Von Drasek

...I'm in my sixities and have emphysema, but I had a union gig for a while and that pension pays to supplement my Medicare. I'm lucky as hell and scared as hell, but I am covered and a lot of people aren't. Keep on Mr. Brace and Ms. Liz (your piece on Freud and Bernays is the best, Liz)...
