The intervention of the US, France and Canada in Haiti to topple Aristide in 2004 was very formative in my political consciousness, as it inoculated me against the liberal proposition that the war in Iraq should have been carried out under the auspices of the UN. Haiti is an often overlooked intervention of the 00’s because it doesn’t really fit into the schema of the War on Terror. In Canada, however, many activists did organize around Haiti and opposition to the MINUSTAH occupation, because Canada was and is one of the major players in western designs for Haiti. We were pretty jubilant with the election of Rene Preval, but it is unfortunate to see another comprador imposed upon Haiti again. All victory to the Haitian people in their righteous struggle for sovereignty and justice!

It was touched upon in the episode, but to my knowledge, the various right-wing individuals and organizations who cosplay as freedom fighters against the UN have never made Haiti a rallying banner (or Korea,etc.). The silence is very telling.
