My dad was at the Ambassador Hotel when RFK was assassinated. He was covering the speech for either the LA Times or the Independent Press Telegram. A neighbor and friend of my dad told me she was driving home from volunteering on the Eugene McCarthy campaign when a cop pulled her and her VW over.. She asked why and the cop said because she was wearing a polka dot blouse. When she told me this story in 2013, she knew nothing of the APB for a woman in a polka dot dress that night in 1968. I sent my dads neighbor a link to the Evidence of Revision chapter on RFK. Too weird, huh?

This friend of mine has been listening to his podcasts and has fully shifted into right wing conspiracy theory brain. Not sure if he’s fully to blame for this, but it probably didn’t help. She sent me a bunch of his podcast episodes and I couldn’t make it through a single one. Really sad since she used to be this sweet little yogi hippie girl. So much of that crowd has gone to shit now in the wake of covid.

This particular conspiracy theory rests on the idea that Sirhan was effectively a diversion. He shoots first to draw attention. Other shooter(s) then take advantage of the chaotic situation both to complete the execution and then to be able to do so in a way that allows them to get away. Also, the fact that you may be able to hypnotize someone to pull a trigger, doesn't mean that you will be able to hypnotize them to shoot accurately. It may sound crazy, but it's not as crazy as what is actually in the public record at this point in time.

Stage hypnosis can’t really get you to do anything you don’t already want to do. Derren Brown is a delightful entertainer but everything he does is a completely fake trick, especially his heavily edited TV specials. Interesting episode- I enjoyed learning about Sirhan’s upbringing

So they "hypnotized" Sirhan and had him shoot blanks, and we know this because someone said he had a vacant gaze and supposedly only blanks have muzzle flash? The weakness of this line of thinking makes me doubt everything Pease has to say, and sadly, undermines my confidence in Brace and Liz. If Sirhan was a hypnotized patsy, why in the world would they load his gun with blanks? Wouldn't the presence of blanks in the gun prove his innocence? Blanks don't look like a regular cartridge. It would have been obvious to anyone who looked at the casings. Why would they bother with blanks? Are we supposed to think the conspirators would risk the whole operation because they were concerned that Sirhan might shoot the wrong person. I am by no means convinced that Sirhan was a lone gunman, but Pease is a weak source with poorly reasoned arguments. I also think Brace and Liz know that, and put this show out anyway.

If you're fucked up enough to think you're actually shooting paper targets when you're actually shooting RFK, you're probably fucked up enough to not be a reliable triggerman. You can absolutely alter a normal cartridge to have a disintegrating medium in the place of the projectile, vs blanks that have certain safety concerns which influence their design. If the actual triggermen were close to RFK it wouldn't be smart to have your drugged-up patsy/distraction pointing a loaded handgun anywhere in their direction.

Gavin Farrell - my thoughts exactly. It makes absolutely no sense that they would load the gun with blanks - aka physical evidence that Sirhan is innocent. They would not be able to guarantee that Sirhan fired all the shots. Even if he did, and even if they were special "disintegrating medium" blanks, what if one of the shots was fired point blank into something or someone? It would be pretty odd if it did not actually shoot a bullet. Frankly, the "hypnotized" Sirhan theory seems extremely weak as well, but with the bullets we are talking about hard, physical reality, not just someone's state of mind.

I remember watching that Discovery channel special they mentioned years ago. They narrowed down a pool of like a hundred people to find who could be the best hypnotized. They ended up convincing a cop to carry out a set up assassination. Also, it was replicating the Patty Hearst kidnapping where her lawyers claimed she was hypnotized to rob banks.

Would recommend watching Darren (Derren?) Brown's stuff on Youtube as well, he's put his entire media output up there. He used to rock our world's when we were kids in the UK, watching him on tv. He does some pretty incredible shit, and as pointed out in the podcast does occasionally point out how he does it I have no idea why people commenting on this episode are so sceptical of someone being conditioned to pull out a gun and start firing it under specific conditions...

It's really interesting to see some of Derren Brown's stuff. He even has an episode about Sirhan, mentioned in the Trueanon ep, where he spends a few weeks conditioning some random guy to standup at one of Stephen Fry's live shows and shoot him from the crowd, when given an audible cue. No doubt there are plenty of performers that do rely on stooges in the audience or a bit of research on audience members before the show, but some of Derren Brown's stuff is unexplainable without accepting his ideas about how suggestible humans can be.

what I'd like to know is if the CIA mastered this technique of getting someone to do something they kinda don't want to do why aren't they using it more? the only followup programs I know after MKUltra is just kidnapping folks, drugging them up until they're dependent and then using the withdrawal symptoms as motivators for their victims to move in accordance with their wishes, none of that is needed if they mastered the art of mind control as this episode alleges. and none of it tracks with my personal experience with hypnosis to quit smoking, you are concious for the entire duration and no offense but MKultra did not produce killers, just a lot of damaged people. Drug dependency and withdrawal symptoms however are like hunger, great motivators for incredibly fucked up behaviour. in short, none of this tracks with reality from my perspective.
