I remember being 14 on the way to my cousins house and WAAF (boston rock station) cut off the music and Spaz,Mike Hsu, and Mistress Carrie reported the bombing. I live in a city 50 miles away but remember all the staties out and the general sense of “holy fuck did that just happen so close to home?” Watched the manhunt on TV.

That spring my band played this big benefit show in Boston with bands like converge and wrecking crew getting back together. I think the show raised over 10k and the promoter pocketed it and fled the city, lol, classic.

I could write thousands of words on all the absurd shit happening in and around Boston in the days after, but the memory etched in my brain forever is going to a A's-Red Sox game at Fenway eight days after the bombing and listening to a drunk meathead yelling "Weaaahh Boston Strong, youahhh Oakland Soft!" over and over as the A's took a 12-0 lead in the fifth inning.

We had a senior class trip to that Red Sox game. We could see the smoke as we left in our school bus. We didn’t go to the end of the race bc we were tired, our teachers were pressing us to go. Our gym teacher was at the scene of the blast trying to help people hit.

I was in geometry class(in california) at the time. My extremely stern teacher was a big runner from the Boston area. He took a phone call in the middle of class and burst into tears as a lot of his friends were in the race. I’ll never forget it!

A family friend who lived in Watertown went out for a walk during the manhunt, got tackled by the police, and then was temporarily in police custody until they realized he wasn’t one of the suspects. Shit was wild!!!

theres two "notes" — one portion is carved into wood paneling on the boat and another longer portion, which the US govt in their appeal characterizes as a "manifesto", is written in number two pencil on fiberglass. the message carved into the wood in the boat ("stop killing our people" etc) was then hit with a fire extinguisher to highlight the carvings with white powder, per reporting by Michele McFee - xx L

So there's several subway stops near the marathon finish line, and also one a couple blocks away from that whole foods store, just fyi. But then I got really curious about if there was any mbta footage reviewed following the bombing. But I couldn't find anything about that before my attention span ran out after like 15 minutes. But I did find some other nifty links which I might send your way if it doesn't seem immediately likely to me after listening to parts 2 & 3 that you might've seen them/similar already

There was a show going on at the Cambridge Elks Lodge in Central Sq. And I remember coming out of the bathroom and the MIT cop who got killed was on the TV. The show got out and everyone was in the parking lot/street and you could hear sirens really close and a bunch of car engines revving and the SUV came barreling down the street almost hitting a bunch of people in the street followed by what seemed like 10 or 15 SUV squad cars chasing them.
