WAAAAAAIT A FUCKING MINUTE. I need more info into this nexus btwn Ervil Lebaron arms trafficking to various groups in México. Specially the LC23S, because, as far as I am into it, they were big opponents of the government's paramilitary groups (MURO, TECOS, etc), so im reaaally confused. Does anybody has more insight into this?

Sneakaboard

Well, if a contractor for the Pentagon says it is all above board then who am I to question that?

devils cherry

obviously some of you in the comments have never had a special interest before

Shfifty_five

Lol I don't mind it but the Recluse's voice is definitely a combination of Bill Maher and the Comic Book Nerd from the Simpsons. I think people are having a visceral reaction due to the subconscious association with the former. Maher is the smug liberal that haunts the dreams of the proletariat.

Dennis

This was an all-timer, fantastic episode yall hats off 👏👏👏

cmanenarwhale

yoko ono didnt break up the beatles, it was a long time coming.

Sam D

Hell yeah, the Recluse is back

yerrak

REEECLOOOOOOOOZS!!!!

Some Guy

Just move to Utah already

Not Andrew

Are you talking about Edgewood Maryland? I was born and raised right there. I didn't realize it was that kind of spot until recently. Aberdeen Proving Grounds 1 town over was always the big one.

Joe Warren

Great to see the Utah saga (Utahga?) continue. With Abe’s death on the headlines, could we expect in the future to see an episode or two on the beginning of modern Japanese politics and it’s roots in the postwar American occupation? I feel that there could be some really interesting content there.

justdave

Elvis was a blonde he dyed his hair

justdave

And brace is correct, the beetles are dumb, yoko was their strongest asset

justdave

'The Monkeys' however, fukn rule

Graham Hoese

Just an FYI, "baptisms for the dead" are only done for your direct family members who have passed away, you can't just go and say "hey I want George Washington to have the opportunity to be a Mormon" which brings up the second part, that we just see baptism as one part of a saving ordinance, and they have to accept that ordinance in the afterlife, so it's not just a surprise conversion or whatever. Do what you want with that information.

Graham Hoese

In complete fairness and transparency, there have been very misguided members who have tried to do stuff like that, doing temple work for famous people, and the church has strongly come out against that.

Jamie Sego

I feel like I’m going to have to listen to this like three times to process it all.

a clash of purple

The history of Japan in the 20th century is totally fucked up. The Germans get way more attention, but Imperial Japan was just as demonic as the Nazis, and they got away with it even more than the Nazis did.

Oatmeal

Yoko didn’t break up the Beatles, Lennon broke up fluxus

As you discussed the possibility that abusers use fantastical theatrical ritual imagery (whether by performing it or by attempting to introduce false memories) in order to make survivors’ stories hard to believe, I immediately thought of photos seized from the Finders, depicting children and adults in white robes killing two goats, disemboweling one that was pregnant and pulling out the fetuses. These seem to have generated more news stories than the photos of nude children, appearing to accent their genitals, or of electronic communications to someone in the US embassy in Hong Kong, appearing to place an order for a child. Continuing to listen, I hear you connect the Finders directly to these networks, and immediately we have some evidence *from* this milieu of adults involving children in an (apparently) ritualized act of animal sacrifice. “Photographs of three children and three white-robed men dismembering two goats were included in a state police affidavit seeking a search warrant for two farms linked to the Finder’s cult, court records show. But the ensuing search of the rural Madison County farms found no evidence of criminal wrongdoing, Virginia authorities said today. ″We haven’t found any reason to seek anyone,″ state police spokesman Charles Vaughn. The affidavit said the photo album titled ″The Execution of Henrietta and Igor″ was found in an earlier search of Finder property in Washington, D.C. Among the pictures were those of a crying child looking at a decapitated goat, another captioned ″Ben finds Henrietta’s womb,″ and three others showing children playing with goat fetuses. ″I don’t know exactly how to interpret those photographs. I don’t think that anyone does,″ Vaughn said.”

Stewie

I also recall that when police arrested two adult men of the Finders, and several naked, dirty children traveling with them, the children told police they were on their way to Mexico.

Stewie

(The quote is from an old WaPo article on the photos. Worth reading the whole thing, given what we know now about the Finders and similar networks, for how the paper seems to be so baldly running cover for the Finders.)

dam

This dude sounds like the guy that had a TLC show about fucking Grandma's

Kyle Sipple

Unless this is a super recent change, this isn’t true. You can just show up to do baptisms for the dead and they’ll have a list of names of people you get baptized for. It’s true that you don’t just pick the people, but my understanding is that you can submit long-gone ancestors to the pool of names. But when I did it as a kid, the people I was baptized for were just a bunch of random people not in my family tree.

Andy Orsburn

Okay ten minutes of that annoying voice is more than enough for me.

Graham Hoese

Yes there is a list, You can either do names people have submitted or your own. What I'm saying is you have to be related to that person to submit it. For whatever reasons there are people who want their relatives work done but are unable to go do it themselves. But I can't just submit Joseph Stalin for fun lol.

Zach

Since we have 10 episodes on 9/11 and Jfk assassination maybe we can get an episode on Malcolm X assassination bc of the recent evidence that the FBI was definitely involved

Quincy Judd

Doin 4 utah eps in a row and you’re skipping us on tour

Kyle Sipple

Lol okay yeah gotcha. This stuff is so funny. It’s wild how members of the church wouldn’t stop baptizing Jewish holocaust victims despite being told not to over and over.

Moystoastman

Fuuuuuck yeeaaaah it's Recluse

Casey

I used to deliver pizzas to both Camp Williams and the data center. (they are essentially acrosd the street from each other)Camp Williams was pretty chill but I at the data center I was always escorted by a cop to the top of the hill where three men would come out with a cart. I put the pizza on the cart and then they would roll back inside without a word and I was escorted back down. I only delivered to data center late at night as well.

gibbypatrol

I would definitely be interested in learning more about this connection. Especially knowing that the Finders kids said they were heading to Mexico.

gibbypatrol

Absolutely loving these eps!!!

Graham Hoese

Yeah that's absolutely whack people were doing that and I don't give any support to the members who start twisting their own doctrine. But I'm sure there are weirdos in every organization, secular or otherwise who just make up their own practices. I mean I see it all at the time in the leftist communities, people have such twisted ideas of what socialism or communism is even though they claim to be one.

Mark Owen

always comes down to theurgy

The Fine Art Revolution

I told my friend to listen to true anon, but they hit this episode first… now they wont talk to me

miltonic

Why are you guys having on people who are cozy with insane fascists like Radix Verum?

Joe Warren

Absolutely! The myriad imperial crimes against humanity aside, the involvement of the yakuza in the forming of japan’s political parties under US occupation is fascinating, especially with how “legitimate businesses” operate there. I have Japanese relatives, and apparently the upper levels of corporations and finance are even more incestuous than those of America.

guter

Brace been like this for a while. Theres images of Brace “””ironically”” sieg heilong infront of an SS flag

Graham Hoese

The White Horse Prophecy is straight up a myth. BYU studies had a research article about where it came from. It was originally alleged to have been prophesy from Joseph Smith, but it was just written by this racist dude 30 years after Smith was murdered. After it was wildly circulated the church denounced it as false.

opal

i have a sadistic wish to hear this guy and michael s. judge on one episode. brace and liz would barely speak but it would be joyfully nuts and their pronunciation techniques would balance each other out

Brendan Garcia

Brace making a Gollum reference then pretending to not know how to pronounce Tolkien. I see you brother.

Brendan Garcia

Programmed to Chill has an excellent history of imperial-fascist Japan.

danny

the people want a thomas pynchon episode with michael judge👍

Kompromatic

Yea you got him he’s definitely a nazi

Graham Hoese

I mean, there's a lot of things that I disagree with in the podcast or that are inaccurate, but I don't feel like they're as harmful as spreading mistruths about made up race doctrine, and I don't really care enough to fact check everything. I've said before I'm the only Mormon in a 30-mile Sea of Catholics, so I'm pretty used to hearing incorrect things or just being made fun of, but when the conversation revolves around my religion, I do feel like it's my right and responsibility to correct what I can.

John Alaniz-Luras

I've been priced out of my apartment out here in Salt Lake. Shit sucks rn because there's a growing influx of homeless people and PMC/Tech Sector transplants because there's supposedly a bunch of housing being built. But the majority of this housing is ugly-ass high rises for the transplants. I work my ass off just to meet another person my age that's been here for 4 months and makes $96,000 a year answering emails for a tech start up. All the paying jobs out here are in MLM's, real estate, and tech. We are extremely short on teachers, mental health care professionals, nurses, and doctors. It a right to work state so a lot of people who work hard labor out here have no benefits and often end up ruined from injuries they can't take care of.

justdave

Your 'not a fan of this They Live stuff' - well I have one thing to say to you - put on the fucking shades man 😎

Dean Watson

FUCKING A RECLUSE 🔥🔥🔥

TrueAnonPod

I genuinely don't know if its tolkeen or tolkine

Brendan Garcia

I think it’s technically Toll-keen. I’ve always said Toll-kin though.

philip podolsky

Not only Utah: I grew up on the Vernadsky avenue in Moscow in the 90s and it was common knowledge that there was a huge underground “what have you” there, known colloquially as Ramenki-43. In the middle of Moscow there was (and apparently still is) a huge waste field surrounded by heavily guarded fences. Each day you saw bus loads of people going into work there in the morning and coming out in the evening on regular hours. Apparently it’s part of a larger underground network built back in the 1950s, though not many details can be confirmed. See the wiki article on “Metro 2”, a clandestine parallel subway system in Moscow: its size is disputed but not the fact of a huge underground facility BANG in the middle of Moscow.

Dinosaur

Punks hate everything you love.

Graham Hoese

To be clear I still loved the episode, no one I dislike more than the fundamentalist or the right wingers, so I can get behind bashing them. Or the feds who I know follow me to church every Sunday, it's just hard to tell whos who, everyone is in suits!

The Pissler

This has the energy of a bunch of kids who have convinced themselves that a house in their neighborhood is definitely haunted because it’s abandoned. Weird graffiti in the canyons, tunnels under SLC?? Give me a break lol

Dinosaur

Because people like Radix are often the only one's questioning the prevailing narrative provided by the MSM, which is unfortunate, but when you question the government's involvement in things like JFK, OKC, and Jan 6, shitlibs paint you as all kinds of things. This kind of limits your pool of people who will talk to you. Don't get me wrong, I think Radix fucking sucks, but that's because I hate Conservative Christians and think their minds are warped by the misery-fetish that is organized religion. As far as Brace, dude's a fucking edgelord who was in a punk band called WARKRIME and thinks that shit is funny.

Jawn Feddermang

Religions/Cults always have to get weird and sexually exploit kids and do murders and crimes and stuff. Like could y’all please stop? Or no?

miltonic

Yeah I didn't say, nor do I think, trueanon are Nazis. Just don't like that they are boosting someone so comfy around fash trash

malpertuis

There were a healthy amount of mormons.... well, kids of mormons in Silicon Valley in the 80s -( my perspective.) Their parents in the defense or/and military.

malpertuis

my best friends dad flew one of those planes with a pancake on it.... what are they called? Arghhhh

Ben

Welp my brain is fully fried now

SF

boo hoo

justdave

Everyone also has the same last name so that makes it tough to figure out whos secretly working for the archons

justdave

I like to imagine mormon church as just that town hall scene from 'Blazing Saddles'

justdave

(My name is actually Dave koch so I'm laughing with not at you brother)

Marcus

The sound around 56:50 - 56:55 just before Steven says "girls school" is so very unsettling.

Abby P

knew it would be helter skelter yas their rockiest

T Delgado

Brace trying to make recluse laugh by doing a mole-people bit had me goin lol

malpertuis

I think it was an E-2C Hawkeye.

sadie

Can confirm brace is a fan of the monkeys

sadie

love y'all but this ep was incomprehensible & the guest sounds like he has a neck beard and hates women

Brian Long

Do you know he was just trying to make a joke/ be funny

Brian Long

It’s the only way I listen to the pod.

Brian Long

And a few more episodes on 9/11

Christopher Bowcutt

I lived in provo for two years. There really is a strange vibe that everybody has there. And the tunnels beneath the temple are supposedly there to transport the mormon prophet from the temple to the conference center

Jonah Stocks ladd

im trying to get into a med study in slc if you need any boots on the ground

Vlad Bombast

An exabyte is easily googled. Where's this guy's inquiry mindset? Some researcher.

Graham Hoese

Unfortunately Brian he wasn't joking, there were weirdos trying to do baptisms for the names of holocaust victims even after the church said "hey that's pretty disrespectful please stop".

fauxrothko

unironically suggesting y’all watch Lifetime’s Escaping Polygamy bc the three girl hosts are ex kingston clan; they try (and succeed!) to get people out of uab, the order, and the flds. while camped up af for lifetime, it’s still pretty genuinely informative

will michel

holy shit i can’t stand this guy

gen~

love this guy

Junior Carmichael

This episode is worth it for the way the guest pronounces "documentary".

ClownBabee24

It ALWAYS goes back to Iran Contra

Alias Dan Davis

My opinion: Although there's a creepy pasta/disinfo vibe to this, too much of it is verifiable. America is "actually" creepy when you start looking too closely. /// I have LDS, friends, coworkers, and family members. Most Mormons aren't any weirder than any other Americans. But, the upper echelon of many "breakaway denominations" of any religion tend toward "kooks". /// But of course, easily least half this guy's schtick has got to be bullshit, right? But, then the handful of things that are easily verifiable are horrific. /// Ogden's awesome though!

Of course

You could roll it all up and have a single series: "They Did It All, Yes, All Of It: A History of the FBI-CIA."

David

Please tell Recluse that it's ok to take a breath mid-sentence. Listening to him talk makes me feel like I'm drowning.

Miles

Southeast Utah is my favorite place in the world. Glad to know it’s probably a massive weapons silo

Heathcliff

You guys should watch rhoslc

phil

he didn't go for tranche :(

AbeLinkin

This guy has an annoying cadence / arrogant sounding delivery

Nick

Not my favorite voice :(

Nick

Liz and Brace (and especially Yung Chomsky) have great voices but a disproportionate number of guests have the voice of a guy who shows up to a community meeting in a big city and very patronizingly states a bunch of incorrect information about how trees work

ZeeBee

Had to dip about 20 minutes into this one. Dude's a little too kooky for my taste.

Kompromatic

Lotta voice shaming going on here and I won’t stand for it

orc

Liz has such a lovely voice

sammi sweetheart

I was physically jolted each time he did it again

Bobby Volcano

00:00:00 OK gumshoes, we're finally gonna explain why Utah's so crazy and has so many random tangents 00:00:12 Buckle up gumshoes we're flying to Mexico

a clash of purple

Truly bizarre comments on this one... People think Recluse's voice is bad but Brace and Liz are fine? Recluse is "too kooky" for people to believe? Recluse has a nasty attitude? What are these people talking about? There must be some kind of Recluse anti-fandom out there.

antipatterns

I can tell you're annoying as hell without even hearing your voice.

Snurt

This guy talks like a West Coast sex nerd.

Mark Ames

Pure candy. Spent 3 of the most paranoid months of my life in SLC & Provo and this reminds me I need more.

Evan

*brian windhorst voice*: what’s going on in Utah?

John S

also known as AWACs

Titivilis

I say this with absolutely no joy. But Brace, Liz: it's time for the Moonies, guys.

Timothy

I thought the world was pretty weird, and then I listened to Recluse.

00000000000000000000

I believe you mean the comic bookstore owner from The Simpsons. But he's a good egg.

malpertuis

YES!! Thats the name I recognize! Thank you!

Jose Coreas

the tunnels also go into city creek mall, which the church owns, and into a very important law firm!

steve

I work at a gun company in Ohio and I make barrels for desert tech, so this whole topic has been of interest to me for a while. Fascinating and horrifying listen. Great ep

Lucy Jones

idk why everyone hates this ep i love the farm but im autistic so idk😇

Sara Perrella

When I could get over the guest he had some really fascinating info, but he just sounded like the most pompous asshole who says um well actually unironically. Felt like he talked over Brace and Liz the whole time and got lost in some tangents

Hasufel

Can't imagine listening to a guest less qualified to talk about Mormonism. A good chunk of what he said was flat out incorrect. There's enough insanity surrounding the church and its history you really don't have to exaggerate or make shit up to tell a good story.

Connor Sick

Mormon eyes mormonize mormon eyes

Héctor

lol sorry but some guests need to be reined in. this person sounded like they came in with a script of their own, and you guys barely got in your questions.

Casey

I hope braces Tik tok algo has given him the Utah Mormon mom swingers drama

Dugan

When will we get Liz's Beatles cover album produced by YC, feat. Brace on Helter Skelter?

CT

Hey Bulldog. Clearly their best rocker

CT

Get a hinge

F

This guest is obscenely annoying 🆘

chronye

rossi was just finger printed and confirmed to be rossi… i think i read he’s being extradited or whatever

As a belgian, just wondering, is that a normal way to pronounce documentary?

2026-09-09 19:00 I live in Utah, in Salt Lake City. I’ve visited many of these places and have done contract work with the Pentagon. He’s right about a lot of this, but the reality is that this is way more boring than what he’s representing. The Mormons are weird, but harmless. The data center is here because land is cheap, it’s far inland and secure, and Mormons are easy to give government clearance because they don’t drink or do drugs and watch Veggie Tales into their 30s. I personally know several billionaire Mormon families and there are no weird clandestine operations. All they care about is hiding their money and investing in Utah real estate, which is absolutely exploding in value. I even have access to Romney’s tithings to the Mormon church. It’s a lot. Anyway, if Brace and Liz want to visit, I’ll take you to some cool places.

J Fitz

From monotone low talker Ben Howard to the sputtering I-can't-believe-I'm-really-here guy they had on the McMahon family episode, to this sleazo cheeseball, TrueAnon is collecting guests with every possible awful podcast voice

Laika

I went to college in Cedar City, UT (where Christopher Dorner went to school). In a town of less than 40,000, they have a nearly 2 mile long runway, way more than any plane that flies into there needs. There is a massive network of tunnels under the school, that feel like a fallout shelter if you manage to sneak in there. It's directly in between Hill AFB, Area 51, and Nellis AFB. Being in that town feels like you're the designated survivor of towns in America. Utah is no fucking joke, they're what's meant to replace the rest of us, should something happen.

misterr

Your Utah series is amazing

pzd

If youre someone who gets as triggered as liz does for the beatles you should be stuffed in a locker lol There are more worthy hills to die on lmao. Theyre not the worst but they are goddamn overrated

Treppy

this ep was interesting and the dudes vocal patterns were a little weird but some of y’all are losing it.

Treppy

it was fine.

David Constine

As a self-proclaimed Fairport Convention fan Brace, u should like The Beatles

mexicanhalloween .

Ah, now you get to play the game of "whiny dipshit or wrecker?"

BB

Seriouslyyyyyy

Jordan Scheibel

Also a pretty interesting history of Communist revolutionaries and still active communist party that pulls 10-15% in elections in some parts of the country

Brock Robinson

These Utah eps are just incredible. Thank u Liz, Brace, and Chomsky.

John F Slaff

I've never commented on any podcast (or episode etc), but if there's any chance liz and brace see this they must know that guest was absolutely infuriating. Some of the stuff he was saying was interesting but he was so goddam arrogant and condescending it was difficult to even hear what he was saying. Spoke over the hosts constantly乁( •_• )ㄏ, what an atrocious guest

mother god

Not a damn mention of the real housewives! It’s just funny-

babygurl

The talking over people thing, monologuing at a break neck pace... where is the chemistry we enjoy! Bring ed opperman back lol

sgl

yeah same, the vibe was bad! it was off! but I'll keep drinking that garbage

babygurl

oh yeah 100% I'll drink the garbage no question

Morgan VanYperen

you're being way too generous towards the church here and just accepting the way they frame it when they describe the change. in fact, "hey I want George Washington to have the opportunity to be a Mormon" is a funny example, because it is documented in church history that they purposefully did temple work for all of the founding fathers. they implemented the rule about only submitting direct family members only after generating a lot of controversy - specifically around doing temple work for holocaust victims - but before that it was commonplace to just do them for whoever. hell, they used to just seal women to Joseph Smith all the time after he was dead - even women married to other people. it was basically a free for all for a long time

Morgan VanYperen

they've got tunnels in provo too, but I'm not sure where all of them are. like definitely a network of them under BYU and the MTC and I'm sure the temple, probably some other places idk. general authorities like to use them to get around

bl

no

Sandy

In Twin Peaks: the return, part 8, the oil-soaked woodsman repeats the following over the radio: "This is the water And this is the well. Drink full and descend. The horse is the white of the eyes and dark within." This is the first thing I thought of when the "white horse prophecy" was mentioned.

John

Fantastic guest

Johan Stefonski

I'm surprised people didn't like this guest. This is exactly what I signed up for. It's episodes like this that bring me closest to the show's promise of making me insane.

Johan Stefonski

I'm just going to go ahead and disagree. I came here for frothing raving madmen and this scratched that itch.

bugsick

Recluse rules, the haters should stick with Chapo

havva

love this guest, could listen to him talk about this stuff all day tbh

David Constine

one of the best episodes. Steven Snider is absolutely incredible, please have him on frequently!

ACE

Nuke Utah

Benjamin Bustamante

Hope you guys didnt lose steam after this guy ruined this series, also david is lying ^

Sonja Briney

Can you continue the Utah series??? Please and thanks…

Little late to this.......but has anyone found out who the utah police chief Michael Aquino was trying to go to England with? The parliament talked about what he was doing in regards to the "allegations", but I can't find out who the utah police chief is

chronye

rossi was arrested and extradited

Kelson

Wait Michael Aquino was the Utah police chief!? Like THE Michael Aquino?
