What is omegaverse?

Omegaverse, also known as A/B/O (an abbreviation for "alpha/beta/omega"), is a subgenre of speculative erotic fiction, and originally a subgenre of erotic slash fan fiction. Stories in the genre are premised on societies wherein humans are divided into a dominance hierarchy of dominant "alphas", neutral "betas", and submissive "omegas". These terms are derived from those used in ethology to describe social hierarchies in animals.

In the ABO universe, there are three levels of castes.

Alpha, the highest and respected.

Beta, basically same as an average human.

Omega, both men and women can get pregnant.

Both Alpha and Omega have a heat period. Their average heat period is about 5-7 days in a month. When Alpha is in heat, they will release suppressing pheromones to the people around them, making other people feel afraid or threatened. When Omega is in heat, this is dangerous for them because their pheromones will make the Alpha become aroused and attack them uncontrollably. Then what about Beta? of the many existing world buildings, Beta can feel Omega's pheromone, but Beta can control themselves.

During the heat, usually, Alpha and Omega drink suppressants so that the pheromone that comes out of their bodies is not excessive.

When Omega is in heat, they usually cover their neck with a special necklace. This is done so that Alpha can't bite their neck to 'claim' them. When Alpha has claimed Omega, then Omega is wholly owned by that Alpha. If bad things happen, and they have to separate, then misfortune will befall Omega because the Omega who has been claimed for life will no longer feel sexual pleasure.

Can an alpha woman impregnate an omega man? The answer is yes. Alpha women are described as having a penis and a vagina.
