From the moment she saw her uncle’s Sc’rath Ali’ya knew what she would hunt. In truth, there was no other option. If she didn’t seak out the infamous Tyrannosaur that lent both name and depiction to her Clan, the System would certainly move one towards her. It wanted an interesting story after all, and she doubted having Ali’ya battle it out with a Liphon was sufficient for the people who’d killed an entire family as part of the KRIFFING TUTORIAL.

The problem was, Tyrannosaurs were Togoria’s apex predators for a reason. On a planet that had not one but two types of flying avian megafauna predators and a species of sentient feline predators who stood over six feet on the shorter side and could survive hundred-foot falls, it had to be a damned good reason.

The Tyrannosaur of Togorian had a few things going for it. First, its teeth. They were enormous, and held in powerful jaws that--according to one of only two research teams who succeeded in subduing one--pressed down with fifty thousand Newtons of pressure. Second, its hide. It was covered in enormous plate-like structures several inches thick. It took a strong warrior to shove a Sc’rath through their hide, and the First Hunt was meant to be completed with only claws and jaws as weapons. Even overt uses of the Force were banned. The Vetropolkatz were allowed only to use their enhanced senses, not even to strengthen or swiften their bodies.

Ali’ya could cheat, of course. No one watched the First Hunt, save the Wind-Gods and the Force. But it was a sacred tradition, and Ali’ya wished to respect that. And with herself unable to use the Force, there was only one way Ali’ya could see herself cutting through the armored shell.

The Iron Claws perk. Claws that could cut through beskar would certainly cut through thick plate. The problem was that, as she was still level 17, Ali’ya was three levels away from getting another perk point.

. . . Two levels then.

It was not difficult convincing Master Sora to stay in the temple for three months, long enough for Ali’ya to complete another Semester. Whatever happened on Denon had clearly ended well, but Ali’ya got the sense that the Trade Federation’s tactics wore on Master Bulq more than he’d admit.

In picking out her classes, Ali’ya purposefully chose ones that would allow her to complete certain quests. She needed only four more Force skills to completed Jack of All (Force) and three Lightsaber skills to complete Jack of All (Lightsaber)--one of them being Shii-Cho, which was only a few points away. She was fairly close to succeeding with Master of Some in both categories as well, though that left her with the difficult choice of which to pick. As experience got increasingly costly as she leveled up skills (it took twice as much to train her skill to Expert 100 as it did to train to Professional 100, and twice as much again to train to Master 100) she decided to focus on the Jack of All quests.

Thinking of things this way was hard for Ali’ya. The world was so real, so vibrant in a way that she’d never experienced back on earth (though that was mostly due to the Force). If there was one thing she was determined to do, far more important than some quests or even a rite of passage, it was to never lose sight of the galaxy’s brilliance, to never let the System’s display stifle her. Her routine, little changed from the previous semester, helped to mitigate her pre-rite anxieties. Meeting twice a week with her master--once being a Force philosophy session with her master, Master Tyvokka, and Knight Koon--and once a week with each of her friends, Kazdan having finally returned form his mission.

How did I have that many skills? Ali’ya wondered, scrolling through the chart. Her eyes widened as she saw the languages selected. She loved languages, and with an adolescent’s mental plasticity again she meant to learn as many as she could, reaching fluency in six already and nearing it in Shyriiwook.

Assuming that Young Legend (Force) worked the same way, Ali’ya spent all but twenty-six points on bringing Enhance, Heal, Telekinesis, and Battle Meditation up to Master 5 before increasing her Force (Trance) skill. Almost immediately the black text popped up again.
