The placement of these episodes is definitely a little strange. People probably told you to watch this before shippuden because that’s how it went in the manga. This was sort of the bridge between part 1 and 2.

Gyt

One of the best backstory but not even close to the best 😉 can’t wait for 248-49 LEGENDARY

Kisame

ye the placement between OG Naruto and Shippuden makes zero sense since its not connected to either so this one works better :) the manga did not have it planned as well so they fixed it :)

Kisame

what an impactful couple of episodes, they did an amazing job with this :) we have spent very little time with Obito but they made sure we see just how important he was, he helped form Kakashi as a person, even helped him perfect the Chidori thanks to his Sharingan :) we finally learned more about his father, the legendary White Fang, these kids all had such tragic pasts and rough lives, big respect to Kakashi for holding it together and being the person that he is today :) a little glimpse of the Yellow Flash as well he was super cool :D

I don’t necessarily disagree with your reasoning. I do think I know why they placed it here for reasons I won’t say for Flexies sake. I do think the placement in the manga though did work as a nice little palate cleanser after the madness that was the end of part 1 lol and giving us something during the break to prime us for part 2 to begin.

mal

amazing backstory. and in a few episodes we get my favorite fight in naruto.

Kakashi was a straight savage when he was little Naruto’s age

wugimara

So excited for literally everything after this

Gyt

Kakashi said tools like emotions r useless but he was carrying his fathers blade 😭

jastop94

It's always odd because obito name is only mentioned like maybe once in the original Naruto. But he's always visiting that memorial since the beginning

Gyt

2-3 times actually , 1st when kurenai talked to kakashi the day of the 3rd funeral at the stone and 2nd in front of the sweets shop when itachi and kisame came in the village

spectral.mozzarella

i remember thinking "damn, its gonna be a while" when you first started kid naruto. now we're here! crazy. i can't wait to see what you think of the rest of this show. it's some truly next-level shit.

dairyhouse

The people who grew up watching Naruto inherited the Will of Fire. In my opinion that's the whole purpose of the story.

dmc 1219

So emotional 😢

Flexie: “They’re having a massive eye moment right now” Me: 😬😬😬

The reason a lot of people probably wanted you to watch these episodes before starting Shippuden is because These two episodes were actually how the Shippuden story line started in the Manga. They re-arranged the story for the anime for some reason and many fans believe that the story flows much better if you watch it in the original order. For example when Kakashi has that little speach with Sasuke that you referenced you would have already seen this and would know what Kakashi had been referring to. Personally, I don't care either way the story's told it's good, even if there are some things that flow better te other way. But everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Mystic_ramen

Best part about watching someone experience Shippuden for the first time is seeing them rave over episodes like these and they think they're experiencing the meal but knowing they're still on the appetizers.

JC

More episodes to come w/ kid kakashi

AJ

Kakashi was 12 when he became a jonin

MilkSteak

I think this is the first Naruto episode that really made me cry. There are definitely more to come haha

Starfish3132

Kakashi was a Genin at 5, Chunin at 6 and Jounin at 9

Keny

Obito was a real Goat he will be missed

Ve

true friendship, love, and how to empathize with everyone. innumerable lessons

Alibey Bal

no you wouldn't. Kakashi's lecture to Sasuke was in Sasuke Retrieval Arc. The chapters these episodes adapt happen after that.

Alibey Bal

"In the ninja world, those who break the rules are scum. But those who abandon their comrades are even worse than scum." Kakashi taught Team 7 with Obito's words.

Alibey Bal

23:40 that's an emote face if I've ever seen one :D

Perfect writing. Kakashi says useless things like emotions should be discarded while on a mission. He still keeps his father's blade. While the blade is useful, it's not just a powerful weapon, it also represents his father's memory and the pain of losing him. So Kakashi, by his logic, should've discarded the blade. It shows his hypocrisy. Kinda. When the blade shatters he truly "discards" something useless. He moves past his pain. With the "useless" pain discarded, he becomes stronger with a new chakra blade, that being the Lightning Blade. Even though the Sharingan he receives also comes with emotional baggage, he integrated that "useless" thing to himself. He grows up and becomes stronger.

Alibey Bal

how the fuck does this one work better? The story isn't needed for the main story so putting it between part 1 and 2 makes more sense. You can put this story practically anywhere in the story.
