This really is one of the best and most strategic fights in the entire series and that is no exaggeration.

Kisame

this fight showed us how clever both of these fighters are, really loved how it was put together :) sucks for Deidara he got the worst possible opponent pretty much :P was rooting for him :D at least he went out with a bang xD his flashback to the day he got drafted was quite epic, just added to Itachi's hype :) fun fact his jutsu C4 Karura, Karura is the Japanese Buddhist equivalent of Garuda which is a bird man of Hindu mythology that feeds on serpents, fitting for this fight :) his catchphrase "art is an explosion" was originally coined by famous Japanese abstract artist Taro Okamoto, whose works inspired many of Deidara's explosives :)

People make Sasuke out to be some kind of super genius, and he is...but as cool as this fight is, it doesn't exactly show off Sasuke's best. Remember, from the very start, Sasuke could see everything Deidara did, color coded, across the whole battlefield. Also from the very start, he saw 1 that Deidara was using an earth style hand sign, and 2 he's from the village hidden in the stones, which is an earth speciality village. So he could be like 99% sure his chidori would beat the explosive clay going into things. The only real fast one Deidara pulled on Sasuke, was beating the genjutsu and popping out of the bird. Not saying Deidara isn't strong, but considering he is a long range specialist, who can hangout midair, and shoot homing missiles at you...it's also not surprising a close range fighter like Sasuke had trouble getting up close and personal.

People say that because this one of the few fights he uses his intelligence first. He's not the most emotionally stable young man.

Man the puppet bombs look like shit. You can always tell what they added in the anime to extend the episodes since they look like shit. In the manga Deidara goes straight to the clay dragon.

I'll give credit where it's due, the sword having lightning when it stabbed a mine in the ground was done better in the anime.

Small trivia about the C4 Karura. From the Naruto wiki: "Karura" (迦楼羅) is the Japanese Buddhist equivalent of Garuda, a bird man of Hindu mythology who feeds on serpents. Sasuke is the serpent and Deidara is on wings. Quite nice use of mythology, though there's tons of that in Naruto.

Lol someone said giant Ino :D

Deidara mentions Superflat, which is meta, cuz its an art movement that emerged in 2000s, that was sorta kinda about recognizing anime and manga aesthetic achievements, and putting some of that stuff in recognized art world circles. What makes it meta is that the episode in which its said is good :)
