How come we stopped with the double upload of Frieren? Is it because of the move or is it just what will be released until this season is done?

DietPop

This episode always reminds me that the larger goal for their journey is to see and speak with their lost loved ones in Aureole - like of course Himmel and Heiter for Frieren and Fern, but I also think Stark getting to see his brother and dad, or Fern and her parents, or Frieren with Flamme it makes me so happy lol this story is so special

FlexiejayAnime

Hey! I haven't even been able to sit down and watch the next episode yet lol incase you were wondering if I was withholding. Please check my latest Schedule Update post! :D With so many fall shows coming out and moving, sometimes you'll get 2 episodes and sometimes you'll get 1 it just depends on my load - which is extrapolated on in the update post :) I hope you enjoy this episode!

I think Stark deserved that kind of closure. He got to see a family that was just like his, even from the same village, but not as dysfunctional. And he got a glimpse of what his older brother felt and went through as the pride of the village, and what made him tell Stark to run away. You could say he literally walked a mile in his brother's shoes. Especially with all that dance practice :D I'm sure he has a much deeper appreciation for the bond he forged with his master, Eisen, as the less dysfunctional father-figure in his life.

FlexiejayAnime

This is so beautiful - thank you for sharing these thoughts. I absolutely agree, and maybe thats one of the reasons he looked so sad the whole episode...

Jake Thompson

People hype up the fight scenes, but it's the subtle animations in every episode that stand out to me. The way hair moves, the subtle turns and facial expressions, the way cloth flows and warps to reflect character movements. From the scene where Fern sits next to Stark and casually folds her dress under her before sitting down I've been on high alert for all those small things they didn't have to do but still felt necessary to truly flex. The entire dance is top tier animation.

BoyBovine

I think the real reason is you just need a break from crying every episode.

Danny

Next episode is my personal favorite. Can't wait 😤

Seal Oppa

That was what I figured, just wanted to see if that was the case! Didn't mean to sound complaining if that was how it came across, just was curious. Thank you for all the videos <3

The wild thing is that whole soirée in the manga was one page (3 if you include the 2-page spread with the chapter title). The animators are definitely Stark/Fern shippers, because they put ALL the love into that scene.

Chris Berger

I ship them SOO hard, I will be absolutely devastated if they don't end up together.

For some reason I can see Fern and Stark getting together in future seasons. I have this scene imagined in my head where Frieren goes to visit them both and she meets their young children, maybe 1 who is working to be a warrior like their father and one who's working to be a mage like their mother.

wiski

Not OLDER women, SEXY older women.

nordquist7516

That’s that ‘noona’ or ‘onee san’ terminology lol

Elliot Pownall

i diddn't catch it until a second watch but at the end when Stark mentions the Lord wont have to worry about an heir - Frieren looks up at Fern and smiles. Proud teacher moment.

Kcosta

Right before minute 35, frieren did her adventure, she gets the rewards for free this time

Kcosta

Stark and Fern ship themselves.

Holy Arathi

Strangely enough my favorite subtle animation is the aura episode when Stark is leaving the church to beg Frieren to come back to fight for them and he puts on his jacket. They had to put half their animation budget in just him putting on that jacket.

Andrew

Ikr when i saw that jacket movement my jaw dropped

Holy Arathi

It’s just such a weird shot to put that much effort into, but o loved it regardless.

EHelström

Same here. Episode 16 is amazing.

Kramer Coop

the whole dance scene in the Manga was one panel and the animation staff was like "we can't have that"

Ilsuk Yang

The parallels in this manga/anime are beautiful, but so are the subversions of what looks like parallels. Lord Orden is a stern, but good man. He supports his younger son like Stark's father should've done for him. Sein finally got to see his "older lady" lol

Alibey Bal

They defeated the monster because Heiter did good work with his life even after the quest was done. He's truly deserving of the cloth.

Alibey Bal

which is a problem if the author doesn't intend to follow up on that ship. Same shit happened with Bleach. The anime staff was really into Rukia x Ichigo and Kubo wasn't really into romance crap so we got unbelievably salty shippers at the end of the story. People were burning all the tankobon they collected. The staff shouldn't go outside what the author intends else they'll either have to change the story or the story will suffer inconsistencies.

Alibey Bal

He had a double prepared but by cosmic chance a better double arrived. Not that contrived after all. If our party didn't show up in time (and they had a good few months to appear) the Lord would just go on with his original plan. Quite decently written.
