under_wulf

Klizer

Ten ten changed hair colour and anime cause she got treated in naruto😔

gusttafa

cant wait for next episodes

Vaxus335

Yeah, this arc was PAINFUL to watch week to week.

Jordan Landry

The names are all German, so just pronounce them phonetically and you’ll usually be pretty close 👌🏼

Holliday

yeah the first class mage exam really befits being watched like a movie instead of episodes it's a great arc and has a ton of moving parts so it's hard not to just watch the whole thing in one go.

Jordan Landry

And that’s exactly why I said “usually” lol

RiShinMarco

Do you want to know what all those German names mean?

Yuno Pain

It's only a mere 2 years wait. 😭

wiski

If you watch them in a batch like that, you should post them in a batch too. Not for our benefit or anything, just because... ;)

James B

I've seen the definitions here and there but it would be nice to have a list all in one place, if you have it.

Lee

glad you are so into the series + fantasy elements. I enjoy seeing genuine reactions to this show

Hunter Smith

I just gotta recommend Dungeon Meshi (Delicious in Dungeon is what its called in English) i don't know how next series recommendations are submitted but i think its the perfect follow up to frieren as they fit a very similar fantasy theme

Leegion

I love this little arc so much, the combat of the mages and their choices in their magics is like all personalised and specific to their characters, its such an interesting magic system.

Darkwisp

"Why do I feel like something is wrong?" - Lugner "Again. What is this feeling of wrongness?" - Ehre

Danny

Denken's tied with Old man Voll for my favorite character in this season. I want them, Frieren, and Aisen to go on an adventure together. I need that spinoff 😭

Danny

Such a mid show sorry. It's just recency bias. There's way better series she could watch before getting into that.

Danny

This episode was my LEAST favorite watching it week to week but watching it back to back it's actually not bad at all.

Alex Hencher

One of the greatest tragedies in fiction is when a character endures the ages, when those around them do not. Being trapped in time would just be unending sorrow, speckled with bright spots of levity. The saying "better to have loved and lost, then never to have loved at all" kinda gets turned on it's head in this context.

Holy Arathi

Ok I don’t really understand the mind set of killing of people in a first class mage exam. Like I understand weeding people out who are too weak to be first class but that doesn’t mean they won’t be later on in life. If you kill them off you’re only making the mage population smaller in total. All it does in the long run is hurt the community.

2026-09-05 07:00 As a German, the thing you felt with the guy named "Land", I feel with all the names in the show 😂 All the character and place names are just normal German words, it feels so weird

You can tell who the experienced mages are, especially Denken and Frieren. Then there's someone like Fern, who feels like an experienced mage even though she's one of the youngest people in this exam.

Übel: Bad Land: Country Wirbel: Whirl Scharf: Sharp Ehre: Honor Denken: Think Richter: Judge Laufen: Run

Alibey Bal

to be fair she's not much different than Tenten in terms of character quality but I enjoy both because I like their designs. Literally do anything with them and I'm on board.

Alibey Bal

Names might be the weakest part of the show.

How do you test for dangerous situations without putting them in risk though? Best you can do is set requirements then warn the participants of the danger, which they do.
