Ugh, there's just so many things I love in this episode, besides Karasuno winning! In the shot where Asahi says the team is at its best when Hinata is, you *just* see Hinata's eyes and the top of his head in the corner, looking up at him. He's such a shrimp 🍤 I really like the girl's team coming to watch the boys play. It's nice seeing the support! The little bits we see of Tsuki in this episode show more of how he thinks, but they're also drip feeding us that info. I also honestly love Hinata messing up a serve late into the 2nd set! Like, I love the boy too, but he fucking sucks at serving. He has more room to grow 😂 Not to even mention my personal GOAT coming through and saving the ball with his FOOT! And Oikawa casually destroying in their first match, and intimidating Karasuno at the same time. We eating good the rest of the season!

I don't have names to drop this episode, so let's talk some Volleyball. Specifically, the difference in terminology between American and Japanese volleyball. First of all, the US uses a numbers and letters for their different types of sets. A Japanese "Left" is a 4, a "Right" is a 5 and a "Center" is a 2. The "Quick" are all 1, but the location of them are lettered "A~D." Ironically the Japanese call these "A Quicks/B Quicks..." while in America they call them "1A, 2A..." Though America also uses "Toss", the word "Set" is used more often. A "Receive" in Japan is commonly called a "Dig" in the States. When the blockers get a had on the ball, they say "One Touch", or "One-ch" for short, but in America they say "Touch" or "Tip." Finally, a "Feint" in Japan is known as a "Dink" or "Tip" in the States.

In case you didn't know! The sun and the moon imagery is related to Tsukki and Hinata's names! "Hinata" = sunny place/towards the sun and "Tsukishima" = moon island/ "Tsuki" = moon. Haikyuu has really amazing imagery for characters and teams and it's always so multilayered! I especially like when they bring in the team's mascot animals like nekoma being cats and karasuno being crows!

Good to have Haikyu to recover after that batch of One Piece episodes 😂
