I love that the this anime makes people feel the way it does but damn I can't help but think of the next 800+ episodes and think "good luck girl" lol. For me, this saga felt like a prologue, it was the first saga imo that felt truly serious, there were actual stakes involved, we finally see the world government as an enemy and the crew had powerups and finally solidified as a crew.

Couple things. The reason why Garp's blows affect Luffy is because they are done out of "love." The same goes for Nami when she beats up Luffy, Zoro and Usopp. The reason why they are beaten and battered is because her fists are also out of love. Though I won't tell you if/when any of Luffy's mother/grandmother figures appear, Luffy's VA, Mayumi Tanaka, actually asked Oda that question at some point during the series to which Oda explained his philosophy that "Mothers" are the antonym of "Adventure." If the characters we know were raised by a loving mother, then they would grow up without leaving her side. This is why we rarely see mother figures appear in One Piece. We actually heard of Michael and Hoichael earlier in Water 7 as Peepley and Tileston (the 2 Galley-La shipwrights who went to Enies Lobby w/ Paulie) had mistakenly thought that Michael and Hoichael were the ones that tried to assassinate Iceburg, not Kaku and Lucci. We can imply that Garp hides his full name to the Marines since they usually address Luffy by his full name but don't put 2 and 2 together that he's related to "Monkey D." Garp. Garp and/or the Marines also must feel the same way about Dragon as it appears that Dragon's full name is also not known to the general public as manifest that neither Nami, Sanji nor Robin knew Dragon's full name despite knowing that he's the leader of the Revolutionary Army. You mentioned how the treasure tree, Adam, reminded you of the tree on Ohara but that was called the "Tree of Knowledge" and was also burned down w/ the Buster Call so it's unfortunately not Adam. Finally, though you're not the first one to cry over a ship. Based on my experience you're the first one to cry over a ship that hasn't been built yet ;)

Changes don't mean spoiling things several arcs down the line. I'm fine with what the LA did by the by but downplaying it by calling it just a change is doing a bit of work. No one expected that level of change because it alters perspectives about current and past events. It's not the same as changing the scene where Shanks saves Luffy by having them be on a boat instead of in the water.

I feel like there's a misunderstanding as to what the 6 powers are. They aren't special to the point that only CP9 uses them nor is there one person who teaches them. Anyone who can survive the training can use them and it can be taught by anyone who knows how. You are far better than even the average soldier with them, but that's it. Usopp would know Yasopp is apart of a legendary crew now cause he was listening. Speaking of that crew, yes Shanks is a bigshot. He is part of the Four Emperors or Yonko as we typically say in the community. Blackbeard is not a Yonko. How Garp does what he does will be explained... at some point. We'll call it love for now. Coby looks so different because his balls finally dropped. He has hit puberty! Jokes aside, I think it's just because of his attitude changing so drastically and his body adapted accordingly. Oda likes to design characters based on that idea. Bad people look terrible and good people look great. It's not 1 to 1, but we've seen it here and there already and will again in the future. Also Coby has gone up 5 ranks in the Marines while Helmeppo has gone up 4. This is within a few months and is quite impressive. They are putting in the work.

wow what a memorable episode! I was waiting for this 😁 Garp busting through the wall and giving Luffy the fist of love! Actually "grandpa" is usually the one who hangs around. A person has 2 grandpas right? When I think of my niece, she calls my dad grandpa... but there is another grandpa who is from the other parent. When I think of my grandpa he stayed with us for a while... and I know whose dad he was - but as a kid we don't worry about if he's mom's dad or dad's dad... And Garp never says Dragon is my son... we just infer it plus all 3 of them are "Monkey D" Garp, Dragon and Luffy... so yea, I guess. I don't remember my other grandparents, they were far away. If I think about it... yes I do know they were on my dad's side, and the one who stayed with us was from my mom's side. Anyway... 😆 kids just call grandpa whoever is around.

Why do you think it's been 3-4 years? You can't judge age based on size or appearance in anime/manga. According to all available canon material it's only been around 6-7 weeks since they've seen each other.

According to all available canon material it's only been 6-7 weeks since Luffy and Koby have seen each other. From the time they arrive somewhere to when they leave is usually way faster than it appears, for example, Nami's home island was around 3 days, Usopp's island was 1 day, Baratie was 1 day, Little Garden was 1 day, Alabasta was 4 day, and Skypeia was 3 days. Also its only been around 5 days since they first arrived at Water 7 till now.

I just subscribed to your patreon and listened/watched your early access stuff while doing other things, and I love your reactions. I think the thing that sticks out to me about One Piece more than anything is its ability to pull you in every direction to an extreme. In this last arc you cried over a ship (canon event btw we all do it), rolled your eyes at the absurdly sexualized bubble secretary, got super angry at spam for being human spam, and were left bewildered by the lore drops that come from nowhere all the while smiling big when Luffy and Robin smile. It is Oda's ability to invoke emotion so strongly in pretty much every direction that makes One Piece so enduring. At least, that's my take.

Garp is so care free, spontaneous and blunt like luffy. Literally NO one in the one piece world at this point knew Dragon's true identity besides that the name of the leader of the Revolutionary army was simply Dragon. Yet here, a Navy Vice Admiral in the Marines who serve as the world government's police on the seas during this greatpirate era just drop an atomic bom on the regular navy soldiers under him and every other spectator there, that the Revolution army's leader, Dragon, is actually MONKEY D. Just to confirm, yes, you have now seen the "spoiler" that has certain people claiming that others shouldn't watch the first season of the live action. Feel free to blatantly ignore the people claiming that you still can't watch the second season of the live action if you wish, they have even less ground to stand upon than the first group... it is factually incorrect to call these things spoilers, they are just different ways of handling the same reveals, and frankly the live action does it very well, arguably better than the anime in some cases. I really hate it when people try to curate the experience of others based upon extremely flimsy reasoning.

One is free to like that reveal more in the Manga or Anime or Live Action, But It is by definition a spoiler for the Anime/Manga, If one watches the Live Action first and learn about Luffy's Grandfather in the East Blue Saga instead of at the end of the Water 7 Saga. As for season 2 of the Live Action, There has been some talk about when Flexie can watch it safely enough to not spoil her Anime experience of this series. As while the Live Action can be fun to watch, it is not really worth getting spoiled about stuff the Anime & Manga will tell x amount of arcs later (Kinda the same reason as why she does not watch the opening if it contains spoilers until after the anime episodes has shown all the content the opening was showing) Also it is not like the Live action season 2 will disappear if Flexie does not watch it until it no longer reveals/spoils stuff the anime has not yet told her One can watch it 1 month after it released or after 5 years, it will still be entertaining to watch. (Personally as someone who is up-to-date with the manga. I am waiting for Season 3 of the Live Action to watch Season 2&3 back-to-back, As I rather watch the full Arabasta Saga again in a different medium in one go, Instead of needing to wait after seeing half-way through the saga)

That's just the way she reacts, she's never going to change that. It irritated me quite a bit when I was first watching her reactions to Naruto, but eventually I came to terms with the fact that this is just how she will always watch things. Ultimately, we have already seen the show, so we aren't watching these videos for the anime, we're watching to see her experience with it. And her preferred experience includes a lot of pausing and rewinding, which is different from our normal experiences. Once you realize that it stops bothering you so much. I hardly notice it anymore.

It is by definition definitely not a spoiler. You cannot call one of two different official depictions of the same reveal a spoiler. The most that can be said is that maybe someone would enjoy it more seeing a particular version of the same reveal first. but that is a highly subjective thing. In the absence of one version of the show handling things so badly as for there to be clear consensus agreement that one version is handled better than the other, you don't have any grounds to dictate how other people experience things. It is especially irrational to absolutely demand that someone else must wait to watch several hundred episodes because some things are presented in a different order. If Flexie wants to do that for whatever reason, that's perfectly fine, but don't be pressuring her.

To say I pause too much while I'm getting a massive lore dump and mourning the loss of Merry is kind of nuts man... I just learned a lot - I want to make sure I'm taking in everything, reading everything, and truly understanding the material and sometimes it inspires ideas or theories. These episodes were big. Maybe it's been too long since you've seen these episodes, to remember the feeling. But I ALWAYS make sure I understand whats going on. It's partly why i'm so informed. Other reactors feel the pressure to not pause in fear of agitating people. I'm not afraid to pause and go back if I need to. And I hope you respect that and if anything enjoy watching me put the pieces together.

I have seen it a couple times and am always invested, I still cry at the emotional times and don't skip any filler episodes and I always rewatch things before you are going to react to them, and of course I respect you and your platform and how you do things, I was just saying multiple pauses during climatic or emotional times sometimes takes away from the moment, but I can also see what you are saying, ( also I have to remember these are just cut up episodes from your stream) so I guess in that aspect,you are talking to a bunch of people, not just watching, so I have to remember that as well. (Always fun when I do not get notified of a reply but do most of the time for a like :/) Your explanation only really make sense if the reveal of that information was from adapting the same Arc/Saga as when the reveal was done in the other versions of the story, Or if one will only watch 1 version of the series, Which is not the case here. You may see it as it being just presented in a different order, But that different order is enough to count as a spoiler for the other versions regardless how you feel about it, Which is why what the Live Action did was factually a spoiler for the Anime/Manga versions of the story. Lets say you are watching One Piece the Anime (or reading the Manga) and are at the Sky Island Saga. And you then watch the Live Action version of the East Blue Saga. Something you have already seen in the Anime, So it should be safe to watch without getting new information the Anime/Manga has not told you yet. However the Live Adaptation does tell information that would not be addressed until multiple Saga's later in both the Anime & the Manga. So regardless if the Live Action told them or a random comment told them that new information, It be a spoiler for them as the Anime/Manga had not yet told them about it (How much significance one gives to that spoiled information however is up to them) As for Flexie herself, From what I can see in how she reacts to Anime series. She does not like getting spoiled/see/read new information even by the openings/endings or Episode titles or when chat/comments tell her to "prepare herself for Episode x " or stuff like that. Meaning that in her specific case getting told new stuff from the Live Action in a Saga she had already seen in the Anime would be something she rather avoid, As it could reduce her experience when the Anime eventually tells that information. Which is were other people she trusts come in, Like for example her Mods and help her out with that, So that she can enjoy watching the Live Action without it spoiling the Anime for her or from which episode it is safe to watch the opening/ending and stuff like that (None of that is done by people pressuring her into doing something or not doing something)

The word spoiler references being told information before you can experience it as part of a piece of media. In other words, you are using the word spoiler incorrectly. That has nothing to do with the way I feel about it, that is just a fact. Two different official media versions of the same reveal can never in any context be called a spoiler. If it were otherwise, someone might as well start yelling about how Flexie definitely shouldn't have watched anime ep 67 before watching LA S2E3 because the former spoils a big reveal in the latter. Again, the only degree to which it could matter is if one of the two versions handles the reveal better than the other by enough that a viewer might enjoy seeing one of them before the other. But in nearly all cases, this one included, that is a highly subjective call that random people on the internet have absolutely no business making for others. The attitude that a portion of the anime community have about playing arbiter for everyone else's experiences is annoying as hell by default and actively toxic in many cases.

Because normally one should not need to expect to learn about future Arc/Saga content of the Anime/Manga by watching the first Saga again in a new medium (which is exactly how the Live Action has been spoiling people) For Example: If one reads the Manga version of Saga 1 , The anime version of Saga 1 is not going to talk about the Manga's version of Saga 5, Which is why the Live Action version of Saga 1 talking about the Anime/Manga's Saga 5 is seen as a spoiler for the Anime & Manga versions. (Side note: The Live Action being an official media version is irrelevant for it being able to give out spoilers for the Anime/Manga versions, The problem with that argument is simply that the Live Action said they are adapting the East Blue Saga. The main point I am trying to explain to you, Is that what the Live Action did is by definition and factually a spoiler for the Anime/Manga versions, as it is Irrelevant whether one likes the reveal more in one medium over the other or if one thinks such a spoiler is a non-issue for them. (4) And again in Flexie's case She clearly does not want her Anime experience being spoiled. So she relies on people she trusts, Like for example her Mods (not random people on the internet/the comments) to curate stuff like when it is safe to enjoy watching the Live Action version of One Piece without the Live Action revealing/showing/hinting stuff the Anime did not do in that same Arc/Saga

It really is only an issue if one watches both the Live Action and the Anime/Read the Manga, While not being up-to-date with the newest episodes/chapters or are not many Arcs/Sagas ahead of the Arcs/Saga the Live Action is adapting I really fail to understand how you can not comprehend that the Live Action simply does in fact has content in it that will spoil/tell information out-of-order/improperly for those who watch/read the Anime/Manga and do not expect to get content revealed from a future Arc/Saga It is not like if you read Saga 3 in the Manga and then watch the Anime of the same Saga 3, That the anime will suddenly reveal information from Saga 6 of the Manga in that Saga 3, But that is what the Live Action did do. "I am not at all the one being obstinate here." I resubscribed today just to watch the last reaction onwards. My favorite aunt, sweet but resilient, passed away today mid reaction to two episodes ago. After reminiscing with my mom and speaker calling my mom’s surviving sisters and daughter of the deceased, this helps a lot.
