TL;DR:

Book 11 is complete for silver rank and above patrons

Chapters will continue until the end of the month

There is a poll to gauge community opinion on how the break should happen

Chapter 882 marks the end of book 11. Chapters will continue to come out as normal until the end of the month.

I built up a chapter buffer over the December break and they proved extremely useful as I have had a very busy year. I will be taking April off, although I will be working through most of it to rebuild my chapter buffer. Then I'm taking my brother and his family to Disneyworld. How I handle the Patreon through April is still an open question. I have two options, the first of which is to pause the billing as I have done in the past. This should be the simple option, but that has demonstrably not been the case. As many of you know, and have had to deal with, this causes many, many, many billing issues that I spend a month after each break dealing with. Losing chapter access, getting double charged and countless other problems have plagued patrons during and after breaks.

The second option is to do something I did with my first break, years ago now. I leave the Patreon up, release one chapter per week and people can opt out of the month if they don't want to pay for the reduced release rate over April. This was an approach I moved away from because I was on the old schedule back then so I burned out hard and needed breaks to stop myself from going insane. That is no longer the case with the new schedule and my mental health is much better.

I will be open right now that I am very much leaning towards option two, for now and in the future. Not only does it reduce the technical problems but it also makes any future breaks more flexible if I follow this pattern again. If I pause billing, it locks me into calendar months. If I have more flexibility, I can take a week to visit my mum, or a couple of weeks for a holiday.

That being said, if the community is seriously against this approach, I will will rethink it. As such, here is a poll to see what you all think.

Matt Turner

Shirt enjoy your break. You don't even need to produce one chapter while on break, in my opinion. I'll happily give you money either way.

Vincent Ciavone

PLEASE OPTION 2 I NEED SOMETHIN DRUING APRIL

Mist Sparrow

Even crumbs will do milord 🥹

Zitensi

I didn't run into issues with the billing, but I don't mind a light month here and there

Joe Foreman

I say Pause the billing, and take your time to get everything in order with relaxing for the month without having to worry about uploading the next chapter. Making your chapter smaller will only add to your stress

Greg Danes

I think option two is the best. 4 Chapters in a month is plenty. Enjoy your vacation.

Timothy Scott

Yes milord, spare a crumb for your loyal readers

Karin Fish

Whatever works for you, is easiest and keeps you sane makes me happy. A happy author is a happy reader! Have a wonderful spring break!! Can't wait for book 11!

Thomas Black

Even if it wasn't one chapter per week I would still want you to keep it up. Said it before that you earned this break and I would still support you for that month even with no new content.

Darkdragon

Enjoy your break, in the end its up to you. You will be going on break and you should relax during it but its ultimately up to you and if you want to pause taking a full break or just pushing out one chapter a week. I will support any choice you make.

Adam Sandford

How about - just bill me, give me nothing and you take your well earned vacation. I get way more value from my $10/mo than expected, you deserve it.

Michael McMahon

It's fantastic to hear that the mental health is doing better mate. As long as its not putting too much pressure on yourself, Option 2 is the choice for me. I'll take some chapters over no chapters any day.

Jazzlovr

I'm a mod for another creator that Graphtreon says is near the top of their category. When they go on hiatus it creates havoc on Patrons until their return, while Patreon keeps throwing examples at us, when we bring issues to their support-folk, of creators who have no issue at all. The difference: size of the creator's member-base. It appears the bigger, the more-likely there are to be problems. If you can find a viable way, at your size, not to pause billing, it'll likely be good all around.

Aaron Pulver

Any chance for an appearance while in FL?

Cameron Baldwin

The quality of this book is more than worth it even if it was only 4 chapters every month, instead of 12. Enjoy your break, we'll be fine.

Gilgamiso

Enjoy your vacation!

Redbevrd

Overwhelmingly one chapter a week please!!

Nathan Emerson

I'm opposed to option 2, I like the pause better. I don't have to do anything when you start posting again.

Wayward_Vagabond

Good to hear the new schedule is working out!

Soli116

I'm with every person saying take the break and don't pause the payments. I love the chapters and look forward to them, but I can handle a month without them, and still be happy to support you in my small way.

Chuck Haeberle

I too support this idea. You have to take time out for yourself and as a reader I don't mind supporting your mental health for a bit!

Bekannt Machen

My thoughts on it are easy and follow your own line of thinking, Travis. 1. Technical/billing issues. What a pain to deal with and the added stress aren’t good for anyone. 2. The reduced rate of release is not a full stop, and keeps discussions between the fans alive for the month. 3. Option 2 is your preferred option, that’s good enough for me. I support your writing because I enjoy it. Your mental/physical well-being is important because it means (selfishly) that I get to enjoy your work for longer.

Andre Parker

I vote one chapter per week because I need my fix, even at the reduced pace haha. Hope you have a good april break

Michael Deleon

I have a serious problem am I need the weekly fix. If you are able to keep up and not burn yourself out and spend time not writing I am all for option 2. But if you need that month off I am 100% behind it too. Either way both help you which in turn helps me.

Turk Hans

Shirt you knew what the answer would be lol

Michael

Keep the billing going mate and have a good break / Holiday. Those who need to or want to can opt out for this month. I hope this works out as Annual leave for you ;)

Bsoxmk2

I still want to see ride pictures.

Tim Miller

Honestly, anyone who votes for option 1 is the kind of person Jason would be disappointed in.

Anonymonous

Shirt, just make sure to leave up a pinned post about the decreased schedule

R P

I voted option 2. I'd rather have bread crumbs then nothing. Plus side for you it sounds like it would be easier then trying to figure out everyone's access issues if you paused it. Others can simply pause on their own if 1 a week doesnt feel like enough value. I suppose if there is a lot of backlash to option 2 afterwards one could just go the pause route next time or perhaps drop billing price a little during "slow" release months. Idk how patreon and/or customers would handle that option either though.

Doswyn

Do what you gotta do Shirt!

Alisa Glandon

When you mentioned it before, I had already mentally noted that I was comfortable with paying for April and not getting any chapters. That you're offering one a week is plenty given you'd be on break, and more than I had thought we might be getting. ❤️

Fabienne Bedry

I’d take some chapters with no mess to clean up for you over no chapter, even if it came with breakfast in bed, a puppy and a daily massage.

Bri

Doesn't sound like to much of a break if you have to deal with all the hassle of patreon screwing about, do what's easiest for you

Rook

I’m all for the slow month. That said, if your going to do this as a more regular thing I think you should commit to a maximum number of “slow” weeks (e.g., 8 a year) in the benefits section. That way people have an expectation of how often it will happen when signing up, I think thats only fair when you use monthly billing. I mean emergencies could still happen and cause you to go over that, fair enough, but setting realistic expectations is good.

Nick

Honestly if you need to take a month off, with how consistent you've been with chapters, I'm totally ok with just continuing payments on your off month. Defeats the purpose of the breaks if you get stressed out with billing issues after.

Sean Dustman

I'll agree with 2 if you post scary ride videos

Meruem92

Option 2, honestly a weekly chapter is better than no chapter, thanks for your consideration and asking us, have a good vacay

Jim Erwin

Don't pause billing imho. That seemed to cause more problems, and I don't think many of us mind... You should enjoy your vacation and have a drink on me 🤗

Alan McLaughlin

Votes are looking 10:1 in favor of a slow month. Looks like we're with you. Enjoy your break sir.

ted tian

Don't really care if I get double charged, but prefer to have a chapter a week anyways. Enjoy the time off :)

Andre Morales

Christmas once a week is still a solid win for me. Option one is the Thadwick choice, don’t be a Thadwick

Steven Ramey

The other authors I follow on here also do the thing where they stop for a month, pause billing, and don't do any updates during that time except for possible news about the future or whatever. So I am perfectly fine with that if it comes to it but I would totally prefer getting a handful of updates rather than none at all. This book along with the others I follow are often my motivation to keep moving from day to day so I love having them around to say the least.

Kage

Close vote 🤣

Willow Peak

You've more than earned a wonderful vacation! I hope you enjoy your time with family and please don't spend too much time working on your chapter bank!

DeltaByte

Option 3 for no chapters for a month then have a load dumped when you get back for binge-reading? ;) Seriously though, having fewer or no chapters sounds better to me than the strange billing issues you've described.

Bingus McCready

Easy choice. If you can put out a chapter a week while taking a break and still actually get rested, that’s a win win for us. This week’s chapter had me about on my feet, cannot wait to see where book 12 goes

True

i just joined and my billing date is 12th so i am a bit annoyed at myself so but whatever

Sean C Jackson

I actually wouldn't care if you took your break and didn't pause the patreon.

Matt Streit

Love your work. Happy to support while you recharge and excited to see how book 12 goes. No worries on reduced chapters for a month; I'd support even with no chapters for the month given that you've communicated the expectation.

Thebadtank

There is a reason I support you. You make amazing content. And part of that is supporting your mental health and relaxation. I would support you taking the month off and releasing nothing while still charging, but I think 1 chapter a week is a great middle ground.

Caleb Reusser

I'm for whichever choice is least stressful for you.

J Holmes

"Do you want me to stop accepting your patronage because I'm a human who doesn't deserve a break?"

Jarrett Glass

I do agree, but if we still get a chapter a week out of the deal, I will not say no! :)

J Holmes

(a chapter a week is fine man, go recharge your batteries)

Jarrett Glass

Would be nice but defeat the purpose of a buffer-building break!

NethanielShade

I’m definitely not a fan of the billing pauses tbh. Every time you’ve done it, I lose access to all chapters, and keep getting charged despite not being able to see chapters, after the break is over. It always ends with me having to fully cancel my subscription, wait a few hours or even a day, and resub (which leads to me being charged twice that month) Even if you don’t end up posting one chapter a week (which is currently the far far majority vote) I’d literally rather just get charged during the break month to not have to deal with any issues after the break lol

Kalanaere

Make it easy on yourself snd everyone. Just leave things as they are. 1 chapter per week or none it is honestly less of a headache all the way around judging by past events. Also for anyone that whines about there only being 1 or none screw em! I'd guarantee the toss away well over 10 bucks a month on indulgences

Eric Poulin

Do what you gotta do, we'll be here when you're back, keep making beautiful work when you're recharged

Doodlyboy15

Do you, I'm fine with both.

Duke Kireej

Personally, I would still let the billing go through even if there were no chapters released in the month. In one point of view, we are your employers, and everyone should be entitled to time off without having to worry about work at all. so I say, do whatever you need to do to stay fresh so you can keep this great story going!

Tom Rhyne

If it’s less work overall to do one chapter than deal with crazy Patreon billing angst, I’m all for it. It’s your break. Whatever’s easier.

Alan McIntyre

You do whatever keeps you sane and healthy. I'm fortunate enough to be in a situation where I don't mind supporting through a dry spell, and I want you to be able to continue telling the story in the best way possible!

Fuzzy Wuzzy

I don't mind paying. I genuinely enjoy your content and am happy to help where I can.

Derek C

Just the fact that you are concerned about this puts you miles ahead of a lot of creators. Your work is fantastic and I'll be here when you get back! Rest is a major part of a healthy mental state.

Loyd Blankenship

I wish you had option C - continue billing, no chapters. I'm happy to fund a vacation, as are many others I'm sure.

Steven Miller

Another great book in the bank, enjoy your beak. One chapter is small word count to keep the rust away and more importantly send time with the family.

Richard B

I sub to support you in creating this amazing story. Getting to read chapters is just a bonus, like sprinkles on ice cream. One a week, or one a month you will continue to have my support.

Sean Aguayo

I will happily take a month of one chapter over a one month cliff hanger lol. Take the flexibility.

Night Wolf

I do not really mind. Whatever works best for you.

Klint Knight

I agree with this 1,000,000%

Timothy Jordan

I agree with having option C, no chapters. I'm honestly hooked on the audiobook narrator and don't even read the chapters, I subbed to support development and will enjoy the content when a full book is released. As an aside, it would be nice if an EPUB and .M4B copy were provided on release for members who have cumulatively donated more than their cost. Assuming that isn't already done, I'm a recent subscriber so I'm not familiar with the book release process.

Ryan Berends

Everyone needs a break here and there. I'm down to pay 1 chapter a week from your backlog while ya do so. Have fun!

Nick

Look, I have a problem and any story is enough. Probably.

Sam Bennett

Will we be getting a pdf of book 11?

Rowdy Robby

TY Shirt. You always keep us up on the plan. It's appreciated that you care enough to ask. That shows up in your writing. To the question, make the tech easy. B

Scott Way

Option 2 and just so I make sure I understand correctly are we getting the 1st chapter of book 12 on Wednesday?

Aaron

Option 2 sounds better so that I get to keep my fix, but if option 1 is easier for you then that works for me. I’m 100% okay with either option

Diviknight

So option B sounds win-win. No tech issues AND a chapter a week during break.

Sean C Jackson

Yeah whatever he wants to is fine by as long he is able to keep putting out new books.

sjmcc13

1/3 the biscuits is still some biscuits.

Isaac Howe

Why worry about it. Just take the break and we still support you :-)

Isaac Howe

Same here. I support because I love the series not because of the chapters.

Morgan Amacosmos

I am here to support the story, and since the story comes from you, that means I am here to support you. I would have no issue with continuing to pay during the break whether there were new chapters or not. We're here for you shirt.

Toxiferous

Do what makes the most sense for you, all of us happy readers will figure it out and pause or not for ourselves. I personally started following your Patreon during your last break and I found it incredibly frustrating to have to wait to pay.

L Ko

I absolutely agree!

Magnus Draconis

Option two feels like a great fit to me. You get your break, as needed, and I get a chapter a week to help tide me over. As others have said, win-win.

Crystal Donak

I would pay and not get chapters. You deserve a break But I'm happy with one chapter a week if it works that you get a break too!

Ligeia

Yes, please, have a get-together here in Florida! I for one would enjoy meeting you. Just say where and when and we'll be there!

Crystal Donak

I'm not an expert but there are pdf groupings of chapters you can download up to they release them to podium for the audible production. (I believe, someone correct me if I'm wrong )

John

Deff Option 2!

Victor Mijares

Are you not able to reduce everything down to a dollar and leave it like that for a month? It'll keep you from dealing with the problems and people won't exactly feel ripped off and such.

Aaron Pulver

Yeah, I have an annual pass for Disney I’ll go there and get everyone dolewhips

TwoMoreYears

I really like the idea that that 90 percent of people voting to continue letting us throw money at the story.

Philip Pleiss

If the 1 chapter a week fed from your buffer results in less work and headaches, I'm voting on that one. I've been a patron, off and on, since you did that first break, so I may as well vote for it just for nostalgia's sake. Just promise you won't let the corporate mouse overlord bleed you dry.

Liesmith

One chapter per week sounds much more reasonable than getting into a fistfight with Patreon's bonkers billing system.

Timothy Jordan

They do have chapter grouping, but a pdf chapter group is a far cry from a formatted epub. especially when using an ereader.

Sandraacox

One chapter a week ok by me

Justin

One chapter a week is about normal for a lot of authors using Patreon. I’ve had problems with authors that post once every few months, if he felt like it and was completely unapologetic about it. You coming out and doing a discussion like this is a mark of an author who cares about his readers

Edward Muller

Option C: Whatever you want to do/is easier for you

Christopher Sampson

Am I the only one that heard a guitar riff in the background as Jason ascended his throne?

Reaperess

A little something is better than all of nothing ❤️

Harley Ahner

At the end of the day do what works best for you.

Zack

Clearly we are all addicts and need our fix, even if only once a week. But in all seriousness, do what works best for you and we will enjoy whatever you dein to grant us humble mortals.

Steve Hafner

If I want to pause my contribution I have the transparency from you that I need. Do you.

BloodStorm

Question shirt will we have more then 12 books?

DivineNapier

Shirt enjoy disney with the fam, build a lightsaber n have a ronto wrap for us all

Kalanaere

I think Shirt I'd going to try to kidnap a Princess thus angering the Mouse Overlord

Kalanaere

I think that's about equal to shutting it off. Everyone has to then go in, change their pledges and later change them back. I doubt Shirt can just whimsically adjust price or many creators might deign to randomly up their costs without saying

Kalanaere

I agree. The amount is a pittance honestly and I'm willing to bet in the course of a month every single one of us spends more on other indulgences than we do here

Kalanaere

I think the trouble honestly comes from contractual sale agreement after publishing be that Audible or Kindle. I've noted other authors state they are very picky about things being available elsewhere

Ken Peterson

I voted one per week, but vacation is vacation, so do what you want to do.

Kristy

When are we going to see book 11 be narrated?! Im hoping you've been sneakily working with heath miller to start recording months ago!! Enjoy your break!

Shirtaloon

That works be more trouble than just pausing billing

John Grizzly

two is better overall, with just reminders for people to opt out for that month before being billed. less content is better than no content AND added headaches from technical issues lol

Kage

Sadge. Have fun!

Justin

Shirt, I am picking option two because that’s what I would personally prefer out of the two options but if it’s going to cause problems for you then I would change my answer to the first one.

Daniel Wills

Good sir, do the thing that is best for you. Take my money either way.

Lorenzo Tassone

Keep up the great work, take your time we all support you. I'll take the story how ever you can deliver it!!!

Lorenzo Tassone

any idea of total number at this stage? I'm old school and have all your books as well so need to know how much space on the shelf...... lol

Justin Fralin

i would keep my subscription regardless. i have been a big fan since i started reading and would support regardless if the content is paused or not. have a good trip with your family

Crimson Ender

Do what you can handle bro, I don't want to dictate what difficulties you experience. If you think option 2 will be easier on you, then do that. If option 1 will be easier, do that. I enjoy your writing, but wish for your health more.

samwise

It’s fine, we’re happy to support you, will buy book 11 when it comes on kindle too, kind of hard to stop after 10books in. :)

Hanksville Noyes

I'll jump in with what I feel is the theme here and say that even though patreon is a "monthly" price, I don't think most of us feel like we are losing value when you take your breaks. You've got pretty loyal fans up in here, I'm confident that most of us don't feel the need to nit pick our chosen tier price based on posts/month or some such... Take the time you need, keep up the good work and let us know what's up just like you have all along.

Travis Neale

We need an Option 3. Something along the lines of "We realize we're patrons and not customers so we all agree to raise our tier 1 level this month so you can take a vacation and not worry about us!"

Matthew Avery

Even if I understand why it cant. We should have an option for "Keep paying like normal, but get nothing." Who would complain? You are a great author, and keeping you healthy, happy and fresh of mind is my own personal priority if little ol' me can do my part.

Vogarth

I appreciate the honesty here. I voted for limited release ultimately because I opened this patreon to support yourself as the author. This story is extremely well written and worth the wait. Pausing the fee for a month is only the fair option on paper due to pateron’s billing issues. My perspective - enjoy the month, release a chapters at a heavily reduced rate, and all is well.

KollegvomMirgan

You don't have to deal with billing problems and we still chapters during the break I would say win win 😄

Grumble

Option 2 - Allows people to keep supporting if they want to. Allows those that don't want to support during a slow month the option to unsub. Also removes the headaches you mentioned in regards to you suspending Patreon. Just slap a warning on RR.

Fred C

On Fire 🔥 Shirt.

Richard Blackburn

I'm good if you continue charging even if you rest and don't publish for the month, everyone needs a vacation :)

Andrei

I think most people would be satisfied with having at least one chapter a week, which is indeed reflected within the voting. That said, after 4+ years I have to sadly take a step back from your Patreon. I have greatly enjoyed following and supporting you, but the non-compliance with the schedule stated in the 2022 poll (specifically decreasing the posting schedule to 3 days a week while building a backlog to avoid long breaks, which was followed by multiple month-long breaks in 2023), the decision stated in the current post of having week-long breaks which might end up with constant one-chapter-a-week situations (and a possible eventual shift to a one chapter a week schedule judging by the trend) and the clear overall focus shift to the publishing side brought the decision to drop the Patreon at the end of this book and continue reading the story in book form once available on Amazon. It's been a pleasure to being part of the community that's allowed to you reach a place in life you're happy with, and I wish you all the best for the future!

Andrei

They also have much lower pricing though if they only release a chapter a week. SenescentSoul for example, was billing 2.5€/mo for weekly chapters before the change last year.

Naotsugu97

Enjoy your Vacay bro! 😎

Sam Toller

Well, that’s pretty overwhelming. Take my money good sir!

BloodStorm

Make the release ever Monday & I’m staying 😃

Mike Wizowski

I say whatever is the least stressful for you. Enjoy the break and have some fun

Marvin bennett

Yeah this isn't the first account i joined with the first never worked again too rejoin.

David Workman

As much as I would love next chapter which I hope many have said. Although do not know how many have said keep taking my money work thru what’s going on and know I support you cause you give such a exemplary read! I have your back, even if 9-10$ a month does not help for everything your story is worth the wait and helping your bottom line needs.

R. Josef Anderson

No worries enjoy your time in the sunshine state!

J

Like I've mentioned before and on the discord like I don't know how other people feel about it but I'd be cool with you taking 6 months a year off by then go back to like you know three times a week or five times a week really structure kind of thing whatever makes it less stressful for you. But you've been doing this for what 5 years or so now 7 years maybe. I say take a year off man do yourself some good travel visit family all that good stuff I'm not speaking for anyone else when I say this but I know for a fact that I'll still be here waiting a year from now.

Kazren

If you just keep Jason and Company coming, I will be happy with anything that works for you.

Ruari Yeen

Patreon should be a tool for folks to be patrons to your work, not your workplace employers, so I'm all for keeping this up while you take a break. We're all human, we all need time to relax and live

Sébastien Kingsbury

To an extent, yeah. Some creators disappear for months at a time with no communication, and that's... not ideal. But yeah, everyone needs breaks now and then and as long as creators are communicative I don't think it's necessary to pause billing or whatever every time.

Kevin Anderson

Shirt, one thing you could maybe do on breaks is to release some "deleted scenes" so to speak. I would imagine there's side stories you've written but then taken out because it didn't quite fit anymore. Stuff that could be cannon that doesn't retcon the actual direction you went.

usa1ph

Has an added bonus of being a true patron exclusive bonus

Devin

Take the month. It would be interesting to get Shade travel blog from Disneyland.

Jacob Kraus

Is there an ETA for when the PDF for book 11 will be released?

Eleeyah

As far as I'm concerned, fuck patreon for the month. Keep the billing as is, don't release chapters unless you have the surplus and it won't harm your writing in the future. Don't worry about us feeling scammed or anything - as long as you're open and upfront about it, and understand that some of us may choose to cancel our subscription until we come back for a nice binge in a few months, the only people who will complain are those who aren't reasonable.

PacxDragon

Enjoy your Time off!

Matthew

I am iron rank. I really don't care what you choose and I just voted for what your said you preferred. Do what ever works best for you. Sorry patreon won't let you go back to the old pay model.

PacxDragon

^ this guy has good ideas! Everyone chip in a little extra to freshen up the old shirt!

Paratus

I mean, it's like you said. If people don't want to pay for reduced chapters, they can pause billing until you get back...

Averill Frederick

I will throw in my 2 cents: I voted for a chapter a week, but I'd honestly even be okay with just pledging for nothing for a month. You post so much during regular months that I wouldn't even mind 10 dollars to support an author I enjoy for nothing for a month. I know it means you're less burnt out and producing better quality material. And if someone didn't like that, they could unsub for a month.

James Shackelford

Will keep monthly support regardless. You do so much already.

Jacob Conway

Shirt, you already write a ton of chapters compared to many other authors in the genre. I get paid for my time off at work, and I see no reason you shouldn’t too. So whether it’s 1 or no chapters per week I’d still like to support you.

Jacob Conway

It’s out now! Check the most recent post.

Grayvisc

You’ve obviously got your answer. Many of us have been with you since the beginning. Take your break and keep the awesome coming.

Ender419

Well said brother!!

Noxis890

Just joined silver rank and loving it enjoy your time in Disney world I'm sure we'll all get by on 1 chapter a week wile you have your time off with the family.

Paul Sharp

Enjoy your time off and don’t mess around with trying to stop and start billing. Have a nice April and I’ll look forward to seeing you back in full swing in May.

AL

Have a nice break <3

Bear

Enjoy! Bro I’m happy to pay you on your break. You’re my favorite escape from reality!

Jan Salomon

i like your book and characters and enjoy reading it. Im fine with both options. All i want is you being able and happy to continue the story in your pace so i can keep enjoying it. if it means i get some time nothing so you can recharge and handle personal matters thats just fine. Its human. If you are able to pull of the godly shit like your charakters don't tell my boss ok :D

Brandon Walker

Yeah, i prefer chapters just cause I am an addict, but I couldnt care less if I get charged for a month where you don't produce anything, as long as I know ahead of time so I know what I am paying for.

Paluello

What’s TL and DR on the top of the post ? Does anyone know?

Pekka Kohonen

Too Long; Did not read. An internet meme about people not reading excessively long posts (so this one is moderately sized)

Paluello

Hahaha thanks

Isaac Brown

Do what's best for Shirt. Love the content, and looking forward to more

Solace

One chapter per week sounds best if you're willing to work still/have enough buffer, otherwise just take the full break you've earned

Katherine Matthews

Thanks for asking for our feedback. It is appreciated. Option 2 works for me.

Ben Ruland

Dude, I pay what $10 a month and in return you give me some of the best literature I've ever read? I spend more on a chipotle burrito, if you want to take a month off and not publish anything, im not gonna unsub over it. I might cry a little and start rereading from book 1 though lol.

Rich James

Definitely Option 2 for me. I consider it amortising the cost of the subscription over a year. Even on a break, you are part of the productivity cycle, as you're "recharging the batteries" for when you get back and sit behind the keyboard, frantically producing some marvellous tales.

How about option 3? You drop the all chapters now. And enjoy your April? You have masses frothing for vampire blood bro. It’s a frenzy.

Im staying subscribed regardless

I'm with Leonard, give us the chapters on the last day before your break and call it good, some will stay subbed others won't but the numbers will be about the same as 1 a week and you don't have to touch patreon for your month off... unless you want to surprise us with an extra. I normally catch up every 3-4 months and my subscription goes through most of April anyways, so it doesn't really affect me either way.

Thanks for being so open about the problems facing you and asking for input from your fans - both are admirable. I have a wild idea - what if you asked your fans/members to submit short fan-fic during your breaks? Have limits on length and content. Ex: can only be 1 page long, cannot use main plot characters, cannot try to affect the main plot, no sex, etc. You could incorporate what is written or not as you choose. Canonize it or declare it awful bunk but it would be fun to read other people’s takes on the story. I’d choose something to intersect with Craig Vermillion and the “good guy” vampires. Of coarse, I think he deserved his own book, but that’s just me. 😉

I actually like this idea.

Thank you for the days of entertainment. I am looking forward to the next audiobook. If Jason ever wants to get Shade a gift I think I found the perfect book it takes magic (Jason wants him to read) but is about the butler (Shade's preference). The Wizard's Butler by Nathan Lowell.
