The dimension ship that ferried the army of energy vampires away from Pallimustus was large. It was a freight barge compared to the smaller and more luxurious private jet that Umber had used to move Jason. The magic used for the final step, passage into the corrupted afterlife realm, was likewise different. Jason had been moved by a small, hand-crafted ritual circle. In the bowels of the larger ship, in an empty cargo hold, a tall archway had been put in place.

The arch was made of thick, dark stone, with intricate ritual engraving carved over every surface. Set into the engravings was a very slightly less-dark stone. A long queue of energy vampires were shuffled into the hold and through the arch, where they vanished immediately. Looking on were Umber, who had arrived from his own vessel, and Thadwick Mercer.

“I cannot guarantee that the energy vampires will obey me,” Thadwick said. “My people will follow me, but your Order of the Reaper vampires have their own hierarchy, and I’m not in it. You have taught me how to convert regular vampires to energy vampires, but I did not sire the Order vampires in the first place. I have no means to command them should they decline to listen to me.”

“You are closing in on diamond-rank, while they are all silver or gold,” Umber said. “If you cannot control them, the failing is yours.”

“I acknowledge the point, but does it matter where the blame lies? Failure is failure, regardless of who is responsible. If your influence doesn’t extend to within the realm, then you must establish your authority to the point that they continue to obey, even when your power cannot reach them.”

“If I left sires amongst them who had created the others, you would represent a challenge to their supremacy, and they to your command. They understand that they are there to hunt Asano, and the consequences of straying from the path.”

“Even if they remain focused, what do you hope to accomplish? Many of these people are silver-rankers. How much can they be expected to achieve?”

“Every fishing trip requires bait. I would hope I do not have to explain to a vampire the nature of the hunt.”

“And if they all decide to pursue their own interests instead of yours?”

“I have made clear to the vampires that, in this place, they are the only ones with the power to die. Everything else, Asano included, will come back no matter how many times you put it down. What state it comes back in is a more open question. They know that the only way out of that place is through me, and only if they hold Asano for long enough. That if he finds a way out before your planet’s little goddess has finished her schemes, l will leave the vampires where they are. They will never be returned to your world.”

“What of me and my people?”

“Regardless of outcome, you will be taken back to Pallimustus, as per our agreement. So long as that outcome involves you still being alive. It’s my Order of the Reaper vampires who will be abandoned. Shipping them all one way was bad enough. I had to call in favours to get a vessel that would hold them all, and I’m not doing it again.”

“You’re going to leave them, even if they succeed?”

“Things will go more smoothly if you don’t tell them, but what do you expect me to do? Send an army of energy vampires back to Pallimustus? I may be above the concerns of most mortals, but that would garner the attention of people I would prefer pay me no attention.”

“So, you’re lying about taking them back once you’re done with them.”

“I am.”

“You just told me that I’d be taken back once we’d done what you needed.”

“So?”

“So, it doesn’t fill me with confidence that you’re lying about ever letting the energy vampires out, given that I am one of the energy vampires going in.”

“Oh. Yes, I can see how that would be the case, but I can assure you that you will be brought back.”

“Did you assure them as well?”

“I don’t think that ‘assured’ is the right word. ‘Implied,’ I will acknowledge. I might even go as far as ‘suggested,’ but to say that I made any kind of—”

“You promised them didn’t you.”

“Well, yes, but you’re different.”

Thadwick gave Umber a harsh side glance.

“It’s not like I have a choice. I’ve never seen contract magic that powerful before. Do you really believe that we have any kind of chance against Asano?”

“The energy vampires converted by you might not share your ability to turn other vampires, but they share your other advantages. Enough of you working in concert will be enough to give Asano a surprise.”

“I’m not so sure. Asano is famous for the strength of his aura.”

“And that would be a concern if he had it, but he does not. That isn’t Asano himself in there, but an avatar, sealed off from his astral kingdom. That means the avatar cannot call on the power of Asano’s soul. The aura it produces will technically be artificial, and certainly not as strong as usual. His expertise in aura manipulation will remain, but his strength will be quite average for his rank.”

“He’s close to diamond-rank. Like me.”

“Not close enough. Numbers will overcome.”

“And if they don’t?”

“Then you will need to work harder. Get creative. You’re the leader, Thadwick Mercer. Finding solutions to challenges as they appear is your job.”

***

Thadwick was the last vampire through the arch. Shortly thereafter, it crumbled to dust. Copies of Umber’s body emerged from the shadows to clean up the pile. Umber then moved to the observation lounge where someone was waiting for him. A man stood in front of the large window, looking out at a white dimension ship. Much smaller than the cumbersome one to which it was docked, it was connected via an airlock tube.

“Lord Velius,” Umber greeted. “Have you come to make sure Father’s will is carried out? I can assure you that everything is going to plan.”

The Prime Vessel of the Reaper turned to face the Reaper’s offspring.

“That’s what worries me. You underestimate Jason Asano. I came to make sure that you placed him into the corrupted realm.”

“I think you overestimate Asano. He can be confounding, but it is done, he’s there. I find myself resentful of your lack of faith in me.”

“You would not have accomplished this without the Reaper’s aid.”

“And I am grateful, but the challenges were with the realm, not with Asano. Perhaps you can help me understand what makes him so special? Enough that my brother would give up everything to side with him forever.”

“It’s not about Asano. Not really. It’s about you, Umber.”

“Me?”

“How long have you been trying to show Shade the error of his ways? He has been trying to show you the error of yours for just as long.”

“By what? Letting me suborn his summoners and trap him time and again across the eons?”

“You are not foolish enough to think that he has allowed that cycle to continue without purpose.”

“What purpose? He thinks I’ll suddenly realise that I was wrong the whole time?”

“Not suddenly, but yes.”

“Then what changed? Why turn his back on our father?”

“Your methods have grown indiscriminate. You no longer care who you hurt along the way. Turning his summoners again him was one thing, but convincing his summoner to let you use soul engineering on him? To be turned into a tool that let you create what Thadwick Mercer has become? It was a step too far.”

“That has nothing to do with Jason Asano. Shade sanctioned himself in response to father’s actions against Asano while fighting over the Cosmic Throne. Why would he go that far, for him? How many summoners has Shade had that were far more impressive?”

“Many, but this was not truly about Asano. Shade was moving long before that.”

“What do you mean?”

“How many times did you suborn his summoners? Create rifts, or have them turn on him outright? Shade was willing to endure betrayal, but turning one of their souls into a crafting material was the last straw. He needed a summoner beyond your ability to corrupt, and to make you understand that he would never return to the Reaper’s feet. Even if that meant stepping away from the Reaper for ever.”

“And Asano is this special, incorruptible boy?”

“No, but Shade needed something different. His previous summoners were exceptional, paragons, yet you turned so many against him. When a potter needs to make a masterpiece, he doesn’t reach for a finished work. He finds fresh clay with the potential to become what he needs it to be, once enough work has been put in. Asano was far from perfect. On the contrary, he was deeply flawed, but perfection is not where a masterwork is formed. The flaws and idiosyncrasies of the base material must be worked around. Drawn out and turned from blemishes to features. Asano was someone that Shade could guide. Shape into a person beyond your ability to ruin. A companion worth standing alongside forever. This is why he had the Reaper place them together.”

“You’re suggesting that Shade was planning to turn away from father long before Asano came along.”

“That’s what you never understood, Umber: your brother never turned his back on the Reaper. He always respected your progenitor and his principles. Even now, that hasn’t changed. There simply comes a time when one must put away childish things, and become their own person.”

“The Reaper doesn’t see it that way.”

“Is that so?” Velius asked lightly.

“He was furious at what Shade did.”

“In the moment, while embodied in a mortal form, certainly. We mortals are quick to anger, but the Reaper regained perspective after leaving the mortal box Asano put him in.”

“If Father is not angry, why is he helping me do this to Shade and Asano?”

“Because they have a chance to do what the Reaper itself cannot.”

“And what is that?”

“It doesn’t matter. There was a chance to act through you and the Reaper took it.”

“You’re wrong. Father has finally realised how far Shade has wandered from the fold. That I was right all along and that Shade must be brought into line.”

“Shade was never out of line. He walked his own path, but it always moved in the same direction as the Reaper’s.”

“Will that be the case now? Father has helped me lock Asano away at a time that is very important to Asano. It wouldn’t have been possible without Father’s help. Do you think my brother’s summoner will be happy about that?”

“He will not, but he will do what the Reaper wants.”

“Are you sure you’re not underestimating him now? We speak of a man who is in this situation because he’s defying a god. Has defied my father before. Why would he do what the Reaper wants now?”

“Because it’s the right thing to do. He will extract a price, but he will do it. Not just because he must, but because it’s right. It is one of the few areas in which Jason Asano is utterly predictable.”

“And what is it that Father wants?”

“It doesn’t matter. You have what you wanted.”

“I AM NOT A PAWN!”

“No, Umber, you are not. You’re a child, and children need boundaries. Then, when they are ready, they are allowed to make their own way. That is the difference between you and your brother: he grew up.”

“I am so much older than you that your entire life is a rounding error. You call me a child?”

“Being an adult is not about age, Umber. It is about taking responsibility for yourself and your actions. There are civilisations younger than you that understand this, yet you still cannot.”

Umber’s bodies emerged from the shadows to surround Velius.

“You should watch your words, servant. You have no idea of what I can do.”

Velius looked around himself like a daycare worker looking at children refusing to lie down for nap time.

“It’s true, I am a servant. Of your father. Do I need to call him?”

All but one of the shadow bodies vanished into the dark crevices of the room.

“No,” Umber said, his remaining body starting at Velius with burning orange eyes. “You don’t.”

“That’s what I thought. I’m going to go, now that I’ve confirmed that you have things well in hand. Goodbye, Umber. Try not to cause too much trouble.”

***

Jason stumbled as his consciousness returned but managed to keep his feet. He had become used to dimensional travel over the years, but getting shoved into a corrupted afterlife was a rough ride. He looked around what appeared to be a desolate moor, a bleak grey sky overhead. A biting wind blew over tough grass and low-growing flowers with muted colours.

In the distance stood a castle that had seen better days, with much of the brickwork crumbling away. It was dwarfed by an edifice that loomed much larger, despite being farther away. A monolithic tower, it was far broader and immeasurably taller than the castle, rising into the sky at a slight angle to where its upper reaches were hidden in the clouds.

“What is that?” Jason asked as Shade emerged from his shadow.

“I believe, Mr Asano, that it is a sword.”

So once again, there are layers of deceit and manipulation. Wish there were a few more straight answers. We’re in the endgame now 😉

Rick

Wait Jason is on Azeroth?

MentalLogic

Yeah I am getting tired of Umber, but more so of the reaper. Jason let him last time. I hope this time Jason won't be as kind. He needs to really take over the cosmic throne and stop this GABs from all acting out all the time....

Kallisti _

Finally! Finally Umber has at least a puddle's worth of depth. Previous appearances by Umber were so utterly villainesque cartoon-ish that I was worried.

Captain the Red Beard

There better be some amazing pay off for Jason walking into this. I love this series so much, but this whole situation is really off putting. I know it'll all work out, but man, hasn't Jason suffered enough already? I know this is the last book, but you better give us an amazing epilogue when it's all said and done!! Love ya shirt, tyftc!

Andrew P

The greatest shortcoming to his immorality is losing his loved ones. Enter abandoned afterlife, a bit of a fixer upper...

Orod

Anyone else thinks that The Reaper wants to reap God's 😁 After all that's the path Jason has chosen

Timothy

Would shade even qualify as Raven?

Parker Bond

A sword bigger than a skyscraper!?!

Zachary Blevins

So the reaper used umber To gather up a bunch of snacks oh I mean energy vampires, not for Jason to like eat to get to diamond rank quicker, so Jason can come back and kill a God so the reaper can get his hands on a God

Dax

... no. He's in The Elysium Fields.

Yzergin

Sword? What sword?

Hayden Leech

Had to sunder that throne with something

Dax

I believe that isn't completely different from the Reaper's ultimate aim. The Reaper stands at the end of lives, and yet there are many beings in the cosmos that are eternally exempt from that fate. I suspect that Jason Asano is here to learn how to kill things that cannot die.

Rick

If that is so... why is Sargaras Sword there?

Ray

excellent I love the layers of plots going on, might need to add another book though or a really good spinoff

Mist Sparrow

Is he gonna convert the afterlife woth his reality hegemon title ? The whole taking in and purifying death energy thing has only improved with the story from his first corrupted transformation zone. Granted I thought he'd used reality hegemon to annex territory from the builder.

Youkai-sama

DaFUQ!?‽ Why the 🏰 a 🗡‽!

WESTON FRENCH

Why would Thadwick fight Jason again? I mean what is in it for either of them? They don’t hate eachother as far as I know. They are both weakened if they fight, Thadwick maybe dies, and if he doesn’t he most likely is left there to forever to die.

Stephanie Washburn

Yeah, like.... Being forced to use soul engineering on himself? Nasty business.

NicN

Tftc

Michael Romo

I dont see this ending well for the reaper. Jason let him got once. In book 1 we see he doesnt do 3rd chances and we are headed back to the cosmic throne at some point so....I have a feeling the reaper will not make it out well. I know Yuri is silver rank and most of his family but if they pass on while hes sealed. Jason is going for the throat. Maybe Jason becomes an afterlife?

Michael Romo

In b1 he says he doesnt do 3rd chances.....

Michael Romo

Pay off, that made me think. The death god said that even gods die, maybe as a repayment the reaper kills knowledge? Either that or jason is goin to the the cosmic throne and will mess things up.

DJ Doughty

Well said. It would mirror last chapter's theme of progression to diamond from making his stand. Great call!

Matthew Wilmsmeyer

I think that's exactly what Jason can do that the Reaper can't.

Captain the Red Beard

I really think it's going towards Jason eating all of the energy vampires, powering up to enable him and gordon to do some wild ass ritual that will allow him to kill a god. It makes sense for the reaper to want to help him achieve that goal. I think my biggest issue (and it's not really an issue just a preference thing) Jason has always dealt with a lack of agency, so he starts flipping the board, it felt like he finally got some of that agency back. But it turns out Knowledge has been pretty much controlling everything from the get go. So now Jason is back into a situation that seems a lot more dire than ever and again is forced to suffer from a lack of control. But here even if he flips the board he is still dancing to someone else's tune i.e the reaper.

Orod

Thinking back on. This my head theory The other Death Gods also want this. Thinking back on the conversation between Jason and Death. On how some cycles are just longer than others and Death even agreed to it. Then the pact was made

John Durrett

Agreed @Dax. Jason and Shade will forge an even stronger resonance or combination. "I am become Death, Destroyer of GODS". And deliver wonderful confectionery prizes afterwards.

Jacob Kraus

What an interesting piece of writing that interaction between Umber and Velius. I've always wondered why Umber had such a vendetta against Shade, and this was very enlightening. It's wonderful to have you back Shirt!

John Durrett

What I really want to know is - Is the Fiery Spider with Wings Dawns ORIGINAL form and Species? Or what she looks like when she's using her Powers??? Cause Jason and Dawn..have some explaining to do! That we now have 2 Spider beings posing as humans...I don't believe in coincidences.

RonGAR

Poor Umber... a billion years old and still a 'boy'. SMH. LOLOL --------------------- Well, this chap proves it. Pretty much what many here on the comments have already surmised 3 chapters ago. This so-called' TRAP ' isn't one. At least, not for Jason. ------------------- Damn... Does anyone else think Jason and the others didn't have enough battles while they were in GOLD???? Also, I didn't see personal battle / POV's while in battle for Sophie, Belinda, Hump, Jason's son, ANYONE... Where was there time to shine? And did we get any battles of 'desperation' where their lives were on the line and they really had to 'push hard to survive'. ----------------- Hmmm I think Jason is going to break the 'curse' on Thadwick and gain a temporary ally. ----------------- I found it funny when Umber was telling Thadwick, "I Lied to them, not YOU!"..."I told you the truth. They will die, not you,, Don't you believe me?! " LOLOL

Kelfu

What sword?

Kelfu

Nah, Gordon kills knowledge "When Gods fall, you are the arbiter"

Oblivion

This. Jason is about to become much much stronger from fighting the energy vampires. Maybe not in terms of actual access to power but how he utilizes it. And perhaps he walks out of this with a big ass sword.

Lewis McReu

I recall her essences being about fire, webs and wires. Probably why she can take that form.

Matthias

Tbf, Umber has only appeared in the series in the last chapter of book 13... He hasn't had many chances to show us his character

Matthias

Oooh, now that's a thought! 😃

Parker Bond

Hear me out: but what if it's also a gun

Hayden Leech

I wonder what role admiral jakaar and his pirates are going to play. It would be a hilarious fuck you if as a middle finger to knowledge he invited Jakaars people to earth just to give knowledge a mess to clean up.

David Harshman

I disagree. I think the reaper wants this afterlife fixed. That's the right thing to do that Jason can be predicted to do. The tools needed for killing Knowledge seems more likely to be the price Jason exacts from the Reaper.

Zack

I'm still on the fence about what i want Umber's fate to be. On the one hand, the guy should die/be samctioned into oblivion. But weve also seen Jason take his outlook in a direction that is much more 'prevent further harm'. So I think it will really come down to what Shade asks Jason to do with him, and I don't think we've seen Shade want anything from Umber except to be at peace.

Mason Ryel

I wonder if that sword can kill gods ?!?

Steve Shelden

@David: this is what I came here to say.

Steve Shelden

I really think the Reaper DGAF about Knowledge. His whole thing is the sanctity of souls entering the afterlife. It’s literally all he cares about. This Afterlife is corrupted, and Jason’s the one who can fix it. Shade alluded to that fact a couple chapters ago and Velius basically just confirmed it. So the Reaper is about to swap some authority with Jason or just straight up bust him out in exchange for Jason fixing the Afterlife. It’s basically a diamond rank version of what he did with a vorger souls in the astral space at iron/bronze.

Iniko Betts

What do you mean this is the last book? It’s basically over by end of next year?

Agent P.

Well considering Thadwick isn't actually Thadwick anymore and has evidently the soul of Shades last summoner I'm going to guess that Thadwick becomes friends with Jason after Jason refuses to kill his turned energy vampires. Then Thadwick will be able to return since we know Umber wasn't going to bring him back. Jason is probably going to have to destroy that sword as it's probably what is corrupting the realm. And in the process he will learn how to kill Knowledge maybe using some knowledge gained from the corruption from the sword. It'll be interesting to see an army of energy vampires all using the order of the reaper combat style on Jason though.

Brad Gammey

TYFTC! Seeing as speculation is running amok, I can see Jason getting the information he needs to "kill" a god, and I'm gonna guess it'll have to do with the transition to Earth. Super excited to get back to Dawn, too!

Reaperess

I think he wants the corrupted realm purged. Reaping a god may also be on that list. 2 things can both be true.

Reaperess

I think its two-fold. I believe that purging the corrupted realm is 1 thing that the reaper wants, the other is the ability to, as someone else put it, "reap the gods" themselves/kill the unkillable

Sloth

Nah, if the Reaper didn’t step in here, someone else would have, potentially someone who would actually lead Umber and thus Jason into a trap he really has no chance of escaping anytime soon.

Sloth

I totally agree that’s what the reaper is *intending* to happen. I imagine Jason is going to do something to this Afterlife that gives him the ability to destroy astral beings/gods though, which is probably completely unintended

Kelfu

Yep, this is the last book in the series.

Ben Cooper

Throwing Jason into a broken afterlife, right at the time he decides to kill a god... What's the likelyhood he emerges, acting calm as could be while spiritually holding his prime avatar together by a thread, with a repurposed afterlife behind him, and a god(dess) before him that he needs to keep bantering until he figures out how to use his shiny new astral being-level, death-aligned soul power?

Esther Prenosil

I've just kinda been assuming that once Jason reached diamond, he could throw Gordon at her. Cause you know, "when gods fall you are the arbiter."

Esther Prenosil

I know Jason would just be like, "You were sent here to stall for time? There are way better ways to do that then fighting, I'm making this take longer right now, and I haven't even tried to assassinate you."

Nikolai Pesudovs

Thadwick was given the location of the purity relic in exchange for hunting Jason. He mentions contract magic which implies he’s forced to comply.

JW Saxby

🩶 Tyftc 🍻

Joshua Little

Gods already die alongside their planet. So the reaper already takes them when it is time.

Mitha

I think the immediate goal is fixing this realm and reconnecting it. After that you might be correct

Sean

Diamond rank.

Ben Cooper

It wouldn't surprise me if Gordon was a key component, but reality assassins don't inherently have that kind of ability to kill a god; if they did, Knowledge would have been far more concerned. Gordon's intuitive understanding of intrinsic mandate magic makes sense for why he would be an instrument of a god's fall, as he has an inherent understanding how to manipulate authority. But to outright kill a god? That goes beyond the knowledge of gods, astral kings, and great astral beings. It only makes sense for Jason to find the answer in the middle of a rubbage bin the Reaper sent him to sweep out because even the great astral being couldn't get a handle on the mess.

Kristy Riedel

Thadwick is contractually obligated to delay Jason in the afterlife for as long as possible. It could take a long time for them to save all the vampires.

Kristy Riedel

So, the soul that held the sword in the astral space was of Shade's last summoner. And Thadwick consumed the energy of that soul to become an energy vampire. But it was all a part of Umber's plan to bitch slap his brother. And Shade chose Jason as his next summoner in order to stop Umber's eternal games. Then the Reaper saw in Umber's plan the chance to have Jason repair an afterlife, with the side benefit of helping Shade teach Umber a lesson. Some crazy convoluted shit going on here.

GTRoid

This is the line I'm following here. Jason knows the Reaper had a hand in the locationof his 'imprisonment,' and also knows the GABs dont do anything without a reason. I think this is 'Teach Umber a lesson or end him.' Jason has to learn to kill transcendants somehow.

Vodyinoi

I think that the Reaper wants Jason to bring the corrupted afterlife back into true, somehow, and free souls that have been trapped there in the process. The end result being that 'great astral being god thing' Jason will get an afterlife to attach to his whole kit and setup for faithful people, while letting the Reaper put souls that have been out of the rotation back into the reincarnation cycle.

Kyle Hunter

Can't tell if the Reaper wants to kill gods or get access to that realm again. Umber getting that talking to was interesting. At least Shade doesnt have to worry about Jason betraying him!

Kalanaere

Jason already has a plan you can guarantee it. He's definitely going to come out of this at Diamond or likely flat-out above it. Does Diamond rank really even hold anything for Jason? Honestly I could see him speed running Diamond as in on Diamond zero to Transcendent just because of who he is. Umber doesn't seem to truly grasp who and what Jason has become and is. I think thats what amused Velius the most but he won't say it. Everyone but Umber knows Jason is goi g to be taking control fast

Joseph Harris

Remember gods do actually die. When their world dies they die. So the Reaper has probably already had his hands on plenty of gods at this point.

Andrew P

Sounds like Umber violated core principles of the reaper in his quest to hurt Shade.

Kallisti _

I know he's only had a couple of appearances, but when the situation is as serious as being captured by Knowledge for very bad things, having the mood suddenly swing to a corny Darkwing Duck villain leads to whiplash.

R.B. Laser

That's what i thought too.. :-)

R.B. Laser

Finally we get to see the "Space Princess" in the "Small Galactic Empire" her Parents are running :-)

R.B. Laser

Well, basically it's been estabilshed that he already holds transcendent rank and only his Avatar needs to catch up, so i guess if he gets Diamond he will more or less automatically default to Transcendent. :-)

Kalanaere

Kind of what I was thinking. What is he going to learn in diamond?Rank that he doesn't already know or mostly understand

Ray

Give the reaper back control over the corrupted afterlife realms he lost by sundering the cosmic throne.

Soulessone

I think Jason prime/what ever version lives in his kingdom and keeps secrets/ made a deal with the reaper(maybe didn't tell his prime avatar) but this is all going according to plan

Soulessone

Agreed, I thought the same at first. But someone else already said it but I think the reaper wants this afterlife fixed.

Matthias

I wouldn't expect anything less from Shirt! We have been reading the same series, right 😂

Kristy Riedel

Interesting, but Umber isn't in the realm to kill, so could be tricky I'm wondering if Jason is going to end up with an afterlife spirit domain and pass off the Reaper lol

Kristy Riedel

Thadwick doesn't have the soul of the last summoner, he consumed the energy of the soul. There is a difference.

Agent P.

I am very confident there is more too it then that. Otherwise he wouldn't have questioned himself, or the actions he made prior to the soul absorption.

Mitha

Maybe this will be Jason's personal afterlife and he can banish knowledge there.

Frazer Liddle

You guys realise he's giving Jason an after life right? He has his own realm, omniscience what's missing....

Betsy R

The worm factory messenger basically hinted that Gordon’s beams would upgrade to transcendent damage at diamond and that would likely do some damage to transcendent beings…I figured he’d be able to put a diamond ranker down permanently at that stage but I’m guessing it’ll do some serious damage to a god too lol 😂 I image Colin would be really good at cleansing certain places as well depending on the situation when he hits diamond too just like with the blood root vine thing on earth.

ABTelford

Woohoo! That conversation between Velius and Umber was everything I didn’t know I needed! ❤️‍🔥. And I’m guessing Jason is going to free the souls trapped in the corrupted afterlife, bringing (proper) death to the dead…or bringing the whole realm back to “life”. Can’t wait!

Zachary Ross

Jason already has a title keeper of the cycle, he got it when he got Death's miracle.

Zachary Ross

I don't think he will default to transcendent but I think there's going to be something of a speed run at that point.

Chris Layman

I'm not sure he knows it is Jason he's up against

Chasen Mobley

Just did my second read of this chapter and that actually sticks out. Maybe it’s just about giants doing giant things and living in Valhalla but would be sick for him to take back a treasure from this journey, like a giant god killing sword or something like it

KyoDaDungeon!!

The pawn and the child should be the title
