In the director’s cut, he actually leaves Electra on the rooftop to investigate the screaming. Apparently the studio wanted to have a sex scene with Jennifer Garner in the movie, so they had him stay with her in the theatrical release. Daredevil was one of my favorite hero’s/comics as a kid in the 80s and that choice always leaves me feeling a bit annoyed at this version of the film. I do enjoy the director’s cut as a bit of a guilty pleasure, and it’s for many of the same reasons you both brought up. And Jon Favreau, Colin Farrell, and Michael Clarke Duncan really do make this very watchable (along with the very 2000s soundtrack and editing). I’m glad you both had fun with it.

What people forget is that for it’s time, it was actually considered a decent enough film. We laugh now at some of the things that look “off” but were amazed by those same things back then. I wouldn’t rewatch it today, at the time of release, I really enjoyed it.

I dont think this is entirely true. At the time it was pretty universally trashed.
