Hello me Hearties!

How are you doing?! I’m aware the weather has been a disaster lately, I’ve heard about the storm in Houston, TX, there are floods also in Germany, France… even where I live I’ve received weather alerts for violent rain falls. I hope you’re all safe from damages? 🙏🏻

I’m writing you from the van after playing our first festival WIR LEBEN LAUT in Loburg, 1h30 away from Berlin, Germany. We have a 10h ride back to Bruck where the band has its storage room and tomorrow, Meek and I take a train home. 4 days on the road for 1h of joy sharing our music with people. As long as we feel it’s worth it, we’ll do it over and over again. And by worth it I mean: as long as we can’t live without this hour, as long as sharing our music brings so much meaning to our lives, we’d give anything to do it again. We’re not getting younger and tiredness is becoming a regular guest but it’s part of the game. It teaches us that we need to take rest seriously as well.

This first festival has been a bit of a challenge for all of us.

First of all, coming from a tour of club shows to an open air concert is very destabilizing on the in-ear monitoring side. In clubs we’re used to get a bit of sound back from the walls, in open air, it’s way drier and silent, we don’t get any reflected sound and it makes the overall experience in our ears way lighter and softer. I had to adjust to it and I thought something was wrong at first with our sound! Tom felt the same too.

It was quite windy on stage, and it hadn’t rain in this area so the wind was carrying dust, which is one of your worst enemy when singing. Imagine opening your mouth wide while wind is blowing sand to your face 🤣 I never drank as much on a show! And my voice had to fight a fierce and vicious enemy 😁

I was happy to have our front risers back but after 25 shows without, I kinda forgot when and how to use them 😅.

It felt so different. It’s crazy how you get used to a way of performing. I love open air concerts for the fact that the view is open, the wind takes part of the show. There’s something wilder, less predictable. I love the heat of summer shows too, it helps my energy flow (I mean, to a certain degree!), compared to clubs running AC constantly…

So this was a great warm up to the festival season and the next is no less than METALFEST in Czech Republic and we’re gonna bring a very special show… something we’ve been working on for a while now and that is currently finishing being built! 🔥 I can’t wait for you all to experience the new chapter as much as I can’t wait to perform in these new conditions 🤩!

Thank you very much Julia for this picture from yesterday! 🙏🏻

See you all on the 26th 🖤

Have a nice Sunday,

Clementine
