Hello, me Hearties, and welcome to my new creative space! ✨

One month after moving into my new place, here is the status of my creative space.

Things are put in place and organized, but the decoration hasn’t been initiated! Look at these boring empty white walls—brrrr!!

This space is half an office, a streaming corner, and a painting area, with my piano being the junction with the rest of the house.

I feel this space isn’t the largest, but the existing storage allows me to keep all my gear at hand. I would have even more room if things were more organized (put in boxes, for instance), which will be the case soon! I don’t feel like I’m lacking space, and I also like the idea of being in a cave, a nest, a cocoon! The day I want to paint on large canvases and do projections and so on, I might need to extend the place, but for now, it’s quite satisfying!

I have ideas to make this room cozier, more comfortable, and inviting for me to create and let go. I’ll paint the walls, and probably the ceiling too, the same color, so that the walls feel higher. I’m thinking of a delicate muted earthy pink or sage. I see so many nice ideas for interior design, but most accounts I’m following are in the US and use US products, so it’s not really convenient! I’m going to scout for good clean Italian paint brands soon and check out what they offer!

The main reason I decided to make my studio here and not in a real room upstairs with a closing door is because of the view and the opening to the garden. I love this large double door that enables me to go out whenever I want, to watch birds flying and cats (!!) passing by, like during our latest hangout! I love the light, the green, the sky, feeling somehow connected to nature, even if right now it’s too warm outside to keep the doors open and it’s hard to fully appreciate the garden as it’s infested with tiger mosquitoes. I’m a vegan, but if there’s ONE being on this planet I would kill generations of, it would be this pest. So annoying. Especially the tiger ones, they bite you many times at once, and it HURTS, as soon as you step outside. So it’s my first summer here, and we’ll spend the end of the summer on the road, so I guess I won’t have much chance to experience the softest summer days. But in a way, I’m looking forward to fall too; it’s going to be beautiful, and at least we’ll wear more clothes and be more protected from these flying needles!

I’ll keep you posted on the decoration process of this place. Let’s say that these pictures are the current status and the big “BEFORE”; I can’t wait to work on and share with you the “AFTER”!

Thanks for reading and see you soon!

Hugs to all,

Clementine

This space looks amazing! And it's very roomy actually. Love that curved shelfspace as well! I live next to a nature reserve, with a dam and a river running past me as well, so I know all about mosquitos, but there are great (natural) ways to keep them away from you. Citronella Candles works great for this and it actually smalls nice as well. You get them in all sizes and shapes from tea lights to really big ones. Then there is the natural enemies of mosquitos as well.. geckos and bats. If you can have plants in the garden to attract those, the mosquitos won't bother you anymore... I haven' had a mozzie bite in over 10 years here....

Thank you Andre!! So I'm not sure I can have geckos in liberty in the garden in Italy, I don't really know if that's a good climate for them where I live. But there's a least one bat flying around in the garden in the evening! I've done some research after this comment of yours and there are nice ways to invite more bats in your garden, I'll get into that! And yeah, citronella based product indeed work well it's just that it means you always need to light up something anytime you go outside ^^
