I have found my place in Udine! (Patreon)

Hello mi Hearties !

How are you doing ?!

It’s time for me to share some news about the whole moving-in-Italy project! For those who just joined our ship (hello Nick O’Dowd, Alice, Michael and Andre), I have decided to move to Udine in Italy, where Meek from VOA lives!

The reasons behind it are: I want to live close to the people I can easily create music with and I want to have room in my home for a creative space. This is part of what “living the life of my dreams” looks and feels like! I’ve realized during this pandemic that life is way too short to live away from our happy place(s)…!

I have so many ideas for videos, music and art, I have to upgrade my working and creating conditions! Plus, I feel more like the artist I am as soon as I leave Lyon where I guess I’ve just spent too much of my life (since I’m 9 years old).

So, Meek and I did visit about 10 apartments all over Udine last week to find THE one that would make me feel home and correspond to the picture I have in mind.

And we DID find it! The 9th apartment is the one! I’ve attached some pictures of it!

Spacious (90 square meters, compared to the 39 square meter apartment I have been living in for 3 years now!) and luminous, a bit further away from the city center, with windows on 3 out of 4 sides, 2 balconies, 2 bedrooms (one will become my creative studio!), a brand new bathroom, a cave and a garage!

The kitchen is big and well equipped, having its own balcony where I plan to grow herbs and hopefully some veggies (cherry tomatoes for instance are easy to grow quite everywhere!).

The living room is large with double glass doors leading to a big balcony. The view from most windows open up on trees and fields, no direct building! The environment almost gives a countryside vibe though I’m 45mn on foot from the very center of the town!

We should be signing the first papers tomorrow, I’m so excited!!

Then, I have already plan to move out on the 15/16 of June, driving down with my mum with a big van to carry all my stuff, and my piano, which is still at my mum’s house at the moment.

I cannot wait to have my instrument in my home again, I miss it so much and I depend on it to write music… I tried to create with my Roland Fantom XA keyboards, “Wanderers” was actually composed on it, but I have to say I am way more inspired when I can sense the strings of the piano vibrating which makes me want to sing to it! I guess I’m way more of an organic-making music person than a digital nerd here. I’m in love with sounds, how they almost become things you can touch and taste and real instruments will never beat fake ones. (Which is why we have a bunch of amazing real instruments on the upcoming VOA album!!... Ok I stop here with the teasing :D).

This entire week of visits has been quite intense… having to make decisions, ask the right questions and also leave room for intuition and emotions to guide me. Since I’ll be working a lot from home, it has to feel comfortable and the #1 criteria for me was the light! It is so crucial to live and create in a bright, well-lit place, for eye and mental comfort. I did give up on my desire to live close to the very center of the city as this apartment did tick all of the other boxes!

I can’t wait to show you more pictures once I’m there and decorating it!
