Feedback after the first shows in a year! (Patreon)

Hello me Hearties!!
How are you all doing!? What are your perspectives for the months to come? How’s your mood and thoughts?!
I am on my way back to Lyon after a couple of vacation days with my family in the South of France. Tomorrow I fly to Frankfurt for VOA is invited to perform on ZDF at Fernsehgarten on Sunday afternoon! 🔥 We are going to rehearse on set on Saturday to handle the camera placements and make sure everything runs smoothly for this performance! First time ever that I will perform on TV 😻 it’s a huge opportunity for us 🙏🏻
This was totally unplanned, we got the invitation for this one week ago 😂!
I can’t wait to meet with the guys, meet with my friends from Kissin’Dynamite there and have some fun 🤩
I wanted to give you a private feedback about the last two shows which some of you attended ;)
First we gathered in Austria so that we could rehearse for 2 days! We generally use a venue from the area where Thomas lives and we rehearse our set several times in live conditions. This enables us to get familiar with our in-ear balance and sound on stage and to have way more room when playing together. The drums get so loud it’s often times very uncomfortable for singers to practice in smaller rehearsal rooms.
We also took some time to relax together, going to the pool and the spa at the hotel where some of us were staying.

It felt quite special to go back to the exact same place where we played last one year ago. We knew where everything was and how things will be handled… it felt weirdly familiar! It does feel a bit the same when we perform at some festivals regularly but this place is so small that it does feel way more intimate then the big festivals sites.
We started to prepare for the show, we were supposed to have a soundcheck but everything ran late and we ended up on stage with only a line check which can be tricky on such small stages as you don’t get the chance to check every aspect. And indeed we had some technical issues all along the show! It didn’t kill our pleasure to perform and interact with the crowd braving the rain there but it is in these moments where I realize that there are conditions in which VOA isn’t meant to perform. I want to be able to deliver our songs and show in a proper way as we work so hard to create this material that it feels frustrating sometimes to feel like the conditions prevent us from feeling comfortable enough to give our everything. I had big feedbacks in my ears when approaching the front of the stage as the PA was too close to e edge of the stage and it can become really bothering. It’s part of the “job” to be able to keep playing despite all this and feeling uncomfortable. “Show Must Go On”. Always. 😁Maybe this becomes a bit technical but I just want you to be more aware of the behind the scenes of what it takes to be on stage!
Yet we were sooooo happy to be there, to perform again!! These sensations are unique and so powerful. I realized how much I missed them. I also realized that being on stage is also something made of habits and mindsets and after a year, I had lost some training and habits which took me by surprise sometimes!
We were very happy to meet again with some of our most dedicated fans 🙏🏻✨
After the show we had a great party with Freedom Call and the crew of the festival and we celebrated Thomas’s birthday! I had secretly organized a cake for him with the festival organizer ☺️

As we were going to headline this festival we had to rehearse a longer setlist. Once again we used a local venue. Meek and I had been driving from Udine on the rehearsal day and we had stopped at a nice restaurant right by a lake for lunch. I had a big mango sorbet (I generally don’t like ice cream so much but this one was really good) which turned into my nemesis right in the middle of the set during the rehearsal. I felt big stomach cramps, sucking all my energy and I finished the rehearsal lying down on the couch, passing out 😅
I’m generally not sensitive with food so I didn’t see that one coming!
Once the rehearsal was done the guys drove me back to my hotel where I went to bed right away… we were going to have a short night as we had to fly from Vienna at 9:30 on the next morning.
I felt better on the next day but it’s only after lunch and a nap at the hotel that I felt my energy was coming back.
I have to say show days are special to handle. You know you need to give your best on stage. You need your explosive yet constant energy in order to sing right and give energy to people. So I tend to spare my energy as much as possible during the day. I limit my talking and interactions to the minimum. I try not to have to focus on anything, I go with the flow and I rest as much as I can. This way I can give it all during these 70/80mn of stage performance! 🔥
The playing conditions on this show were really professional and we all felt way more comfortable regarding the sound on stage and in our ears to be able to focus fully on performing. I felt so much better despite the dark clouds gathering above our heads. It rained heavily during one song in the middle of our set. The water was coming on stage up to 1.5m deep and the stage staff had to cover all our gear to protect it from the rain. We kept playing, somehow enjoying this distraction and challenge! We could see the audience opening umbrellas and putting ponchos on. We were so happy and relieved to see them staying and not leaving their position haha! I really felt like we were all in this together!! 💪🏻🔥 This warmed my heart so much. Gave me so much meaning to what we are doing.
We could tell people were happy to attend a live show and they rocked the place with us until the end. I can’t wait to do this again….!
After the show we packed and I used this moment to have the guys try out the first drafts for their next outfits that Sophia had given me before I left France in July…They looked very promising 🔥
They we went back to the hotel and had a party in the lobby with Attraction Theory and Nightmare, 2 French acts for once!! It’s so rare for me to meet up with French bands on tour or festivals. Our bands have issues becoming professional and crossing borders…
I slept 2 hours then took the shuttle to the hotel and flew back to my mum’s place before leaving for holidays with my sister on the next day!
Another thing that I felt is that I really cannot wait to release our new album and perform our new songs live…I still love our songs but it is natural that I feel way more connected to what we created more recently… I really cannot wait for you all to listen to our new album 🙏🏻🤩✨☀️
After the TV show on Sunday our next show is at a private event! Not a wedding as I was told but a common bachelor party for both the futur bride and groom! This should be fun too!
Then hopefully I will have some time to finish getting settled in Udine… I still have a lot to unpack, my piano isn’t tuned yet and I have to invest in gear so that I can host live online chats and parties with you all! 🔥
Thank you for your attention and I come back to you soon!
With love,
Clemi
