When I was young I was put into a lot of extra curricular activities. In the hell hole that is the american education system, they would constantly ask me "How do you see yourself in the future?". Being from an abused house hold I couldn't answer that and I always made something up. I made up a story based upon what they imagined a "healthy", neurotypical, and successful individual would do.

Now it actually has been 10 years and no one could have predicted what went on in my life.

The sketch was supposed to be the younger version of me seeing myself in the future, but it didn't fit really as I saw no future when I was younger. I flipped the mirror to portray myself looking into the past which seemed to fit the theme better overall.

It was also quite interesting to look back at my more successful younger self. I honestly did not enjoy being who I was then, and I hated all the awards I got. In terms of my abusive household, all those awards were really for my mother. Who kept them, displayed them, and stored them in a large container. To this day she still has many of my awards.

In comparison to now where I take a lot of medication to keep functional, my body hurts a lot, and I have to deal/work/fix the past abuse. I do not have awards now and I feel so mediocre (but  that's depression talking): I worked a lot, I struggled with school work, I'm just simply not what my teachers kept begging me to answer "how do you see yourself in 10 years?"
