On my life Joe was every one of us when we played the game. Drew is our reaction today whenever we think about how ASS the story was 😂😂

Damn, I knew about the Joel death in part 2, but I didnt know the game made you play Abby! I can see why people didnt like that, I mean most of what people care about is the relationship btwn Joel and Ellie, how do you kill him at the begining crazy!

MSephiroth

You say the majority of the game, but it's not, it's a too large of a part, sure, I agree with that, but it's only like 35-40% where you play as Abby, the rest of the game is still as Ellie. And you might not agree with it, which is totally fair, as I still don't agree they should have full-on killed Joel, but even more so in this day and age, with everything going on right now, the story that is told, the story about the pointless stupidity and brainless dumbassery of revenge at all costs, 'an eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind' is more applicable than ever before. And look at tit this way as well, the game sort of - for their story - had to have you play as Abby, but I still think the show doesn't have to do that as much. The thing that pisses me off, is the amount of death threats to Laura Bailey, to Kaitlyn Dever now as well. What also pisses me off, is the people that defend Abby, and that hate on Ellie for some reason. And to be clear, I don't like Abby, at all either, especially in the show because this Jackson thing makes it worse as well. Her bringing up her 'code' makes it worse as well. Abby is a massive hypocrite of a bitch that is in the wrong, and I still think Ellie was in the right, who tried to only go for Abby. So yeah, I'm not defending Abby, just to be clear Anyway, the choice is yours, and no one can, or should, force you to watch something that you don't want to. Although I will say that the gameplay of TLOU2 is amazing, and if anything, the game is great for the No Return mode, just to enjoy the gameplay

Not expecting to wake up to this episode reaction this morning. LOL! I never played the game, but I knew of Joel's death. From what I've seen in the playthroughs that I've watched on YouTube, I'm probably in the minority that I like how the show handled it better with the changes that were made. Loved the Jackson Hole town invasion scene. Which wasn't in the game. Tommy was a badass taking out that bloater. As much as I hated that scene, I do have to give Kaitlyn Dever, Bella Ramsey, and Pedro Pascal a round of applause for their performances. And knowing that Kaitlyn Dever just attended her mother's funeral just days prior to filming those scenes makes it more heartbreaking to watch. And again I'm probably in the minority, but I am enjoying this season compared to what I've seen in the game. The last time I saw Struggle Soldier this upset during a reaction was at the end of the season 2 finale episode for "The Mandalorian". I can't wait to see whether or not you continue on after this.

NJK_Jinkies

I never played the game and I was never watching the show….But when I heard that they actually had the balls to kill off the main character, I was blown away. I was so shocked, and so curious as to how they would continue after that. I was looking up everything and am now very invested to see how things play out. Also, I don’t think I’ve ever seen Soldier so upset during a reaction before

Bella's acting this episode during "the scene" was fucking amazing, they absolutely Ellie's desperation. Fuck everybody who wants to yell and scream otherwise as if it's the most important thing in the world. The Last of Us 2 is a fine and good game. The people trying to make it a culture war are morons with an agenda.

I'm one of the people who loves Part 2, but god damn it is so entertaining seeing how the story affects people who are show-only viewers and grew the same attachment to the characters. It is okay if you don't like part 2, but I think for the future episodes it would be better if you don't explain things from the game that hadn't happened yet in the show. I only say that because it would be cool to see the emotions Joe feels throughout the season and how they develop without his knowledge of the game. So many show only reactors I saw had the same emotional rollercoaster at the end of being so distraught that they weren't sure if they were going to continue the show. But, either way, your reactions are super entertaining and I'm glad to hear that the show is so far handling the story better for you

Bryan

Abby's hypocrisy being more apparent is a change I actually like for her character. I really liked Abby in the game, but when the surrounding characters would call her out for being selfish or a hypocrite, it felt like we didn't see enough of that for it to fully hit. I was able to empathize with Abby towards the end of the game, I know you and Drew don't feel the same way, but I think making her hypocrisy and selfishness more apparent is going to enrich the story between her and her crew. Whether the show will be able to pull it off well remains to be seen, but I am optimistic that they will make it work. I think they should keep watching because many reactors online had a similar reaction to Joe where they weren't sure if they were gonna keep watching, only to really end up enjoying the season so far, but it is their choice at the end of the day. Also, respect for explaining that you don't like something and not attacking others who do. The extreme people on both side of that line get frustrating. If you love or hate something, that is fine and we can discuss it, but the second it becomes disrespectful then you lose me.

MSephiroth

Oh I do think in a way that it is a good change, for the story, but it does also frustrate me more with her character, which I know is the point, but still, you know? I hope that makes sense, lol I think there was a small part of me that could sort of empathize, but not really sympathize in a way, and I just never felt like she truly took responsibility and accountability for anything. If anything, what Abby ends up doing in the game, is kind of worse than anything Joel did, as Joel only really knew Marlene, and not even in the best way Abby on the other hand... I think you know what I mean, or I hope so? I also do think they should keep watching, but like you said, it is their decision, but I would really enjoy watching their reaction to the rest, as I have been enjoying the show quite a bit as well. There's really some things that I think the show is doing better than the game. I mean, I still love the game, most of all for the gameplay as well, and I can appreciate the boldness of the story and I like the message of how the cycle of vengeance is bad. There's just some things that are really impossible to really get past. But of course, I couldn't agree more. After all, you can be on opposite sides of an opinion, and still have a healthy discussion about it and just agree to disagree while explaining the different views of things and getting a better understanding. But getting disrespectful, toxic and/or even just trying to force your opinion onto others, that loses me as well

I’ll be honest it took me a few days to decide if I wanted to keep watching but goddamn I’m glad I did and I have zero doubts bout u guys will be glad too

Ive been watching you a few years now and I’ve only ever seen Joe be as emotional as this to the finale of season 4 of Stranger Things, specifically what happened to Max. This man, well both, were wrecked that day. I’ve watched bits and pieces of this season after this, specifically episode 6, but nothing feels right after Joel’s death. I loved his character. I have so many views on all of this. I’m not a player of the games, I went into season 2 knowing he died, but I was just heartbroken. I’ve watched gameplay where people who had to play as Abby after Joel’s death just spent 20 minutes throwing Abby off a roof. I appreciated that 😂 Season 3 has been confirmed and it’s nothing I’m interested in.

And this ladies and gents is why I never got into TLOU. Joel's death could have AND SHOULD HAVE been handled differently. IDC what show I'm watching, you DO NOT kill off main characters like that. You just don't. And I know that there are shows where no one is safe like Squid Game, but even they know better than just to flat out kill off an MC. Like WHYYY!?
