hello!  โœฟ๏ผผ(โ‰งโ–ฝโ‰ฆ)๏ผ โœฟ

I've wanted to make an art vlog for the looongest time so I finally just went for it. xD I had a lot of fun putting this together the past month and I hope you enjoy the video! there's a good mix of stuff in here from live drawing, reflections on art, business-related tasks, and some classic ol' cloud-watching. so y'know, basically the 4 pillars of life lol.

have a good day! โ€ โœฟ

I loved this vlog, your voice and thoughts you shared were so calming to listen to and it was great to see what what you did this month! And loved all the Kuma cameos haha

i laughed so much with kuma lol, cats sure are silly creatures. also, i'm happy that listening to eternal sunshine helped you shape your ideas for the sleepy creature comic. saturn returns (interlude) was a very magical moment in that album.

Really interesting watch! And some good laughs too! (the YouTuber cam transition)๐Ÿ˜‚ Cool to see your process of doing each piece and talking about inspiration and such. I especially love what you said about how art allows us to say and express things we wouldn't normally. It's a big part of why I like to engage with art myself! ๐Ÿ˜ Also that part around 6 mins in with the pen tapping was giving real ASMR energy. ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ‘ Excited for more!

Iโ€™m so happy you talked about social media at the end of the video, I sometimes feel the same way about it, but I also wanted to ask: Do you feel you can be completely free or is there an aspect to it that puts you under pressure as well because people are paying for your content now? Iโ€™m a bit scared that if I would start my own patreon I might overwork myself in attempt to deliver what I feel like people are paying for. Did you ever struggle with that?

the question of art and freedom is something i think about a lot and it genuinely feels like a question that has no satisfying answer. (if you're interested in pondering the topic more, i suggest checking out greg guevara's youtube channel, this stuff is his bread and butter). i used to think that freedom was a prerequisite for making art that felt real/true/representative of me. it was a big part of my reason for taking a hiatus from patreon, i didn't want to feel limited by time or other's expectations in the form of monetary support. i was also completely burnt out from patreon/life in general at the time and didn't have anything to give so i chose to stop. while the break itself was necessary, i can't say that all that open-ended time with no deadlines or people to answer to made my art better or more honest. if anything, the lack of constraints expanded the realm of possibility and ballooned my expectations to the point where i could never be satisfied with what i made, always pushing the goalpost further and making it hard to finish anything. i realized i'd actually greatly benefit from schedule and limitations and only then did i decide to restart patreon. i've gone into it with that expectation and it has held up its end of the deal. for where i'm at right now, the exchange on patreon helps me a lot. it didn't always and i'm sure it's something i'll have to renegotiate in the future. the present is all any of us have though, so for present me it's the best i can do and that's enough. :)

The feelings you shared about social media are so incredibly valid. Itโ€™s such a gift and a curse. Iโ€™m glad patreon has helped make art more sustainable for you โ™ฅ๏ธ

it really is! every time I think I land on a conclusion about social media, I end up having more thoughts to express haha. yeah, I don't think I can ever properly convey how wonderful and transformational patreon has been for my art practice, just know I'm immensely grateful for the support I receive here. <3
