August postcard complete! c:< For all the plant lovers out there~ (Patreon)

Hi everyone!

I've got a finished postcard to share with you all today! ^^ This is the piece for August's postcard, which will be sent out mid-September. I visited a cactarium during my vacation and had such a great time. I especially wanted to go because I love succulents and lemme tell you I was not disappointed. 

The place was run by a kind old man who shared a heartwarming story about his sweet dog who used to be the main attraction of the place. Apparently she was the friendliest pup and would happily greet visitors who easily fell in love with her. I saw plenty of cacti species that day and was fascinated by the multitude of colors and shapes that sprang from the ground. I'm particularly fascinated by succulents and admire their ability to survive in harsh conditions that only seem to make them more beautiful. I think prickly pears are my favorite out of the bunch. I love that they come in a wide variety of colors and sizes and naturally made them the focus of this drawing. I really enjoyed playing with and balancing colors in this drawing. Color will always play an important role in my work. I love studying it, experiencing it, and experimenting with it. In some way, it makes me feel a child-like sense of freedom and exhilaration and that's something I'll hold onto for as long as I can. <3
