drawing the same thing over and over again (Patreon)

in which I like to make random art challenges for myself based on what sounds fun and interesting in the moment!

I've long had the suspicion that the drawing tool I'm using can have an effect on how I draw. how significant that effect is is of curiosity, so I picked out 7 different pens, pencils, and markers to draw the same thing back to back (every good experiment needs a control!). I was delighted to find that my drawings did change in specific ways from tool to tool. what seems to have the most effect is how large the nib is and how opaque the medium is. the level of detail and the amount of shading I could get really changed up how the drawing looked and some tools were more enjoyable to use than others. turns out the classic pencil?...really can't be beat. I'm glad I have these drawings for reference now so I know what implement to choose based on whatever mood I'm going for or in.

anyways, that was fun! I wonder what little art challenge I'll cook up for myself next! ( . .)φ__
