yeahhh, not a lot of drawing or painting has been going on. it's....I've just been crocheting truth be told. I started a year and a half ago when I took a free class at the library and it's been history from there. anyone else who crochets maybe you can corroborate this, but I get into these focus 'holes' whenever I pick up crocheting again? like my attention becomes laser-driven toward crocheting and I can do it for hours for weeks on end. and then inevitably I get sick of it, put it down for several months, the itch has time to build back up and creep in again, and repeat. it's kinda crazy-making, I enjoy it.
here's some of the projects I've made! patterns will be listed alongside each one.
starting off with the real crowd-pleaser: hungry caterpillar scarf. (pattern; final part with the eyes is cumbersome to decipher, I had to look up a random tiktok not made by the pattern creator, easy to follow otherwise)
✿ I mean...look at this guy, just excellent. this is one of the first projects I ever made and I'm so proud of it. this scarf makes people smile anywhere I go and people love to pay it compliments. I feel like it's an overall boon for society, pure delight.
I recently finished a 3 in 1 accessory! (pattern)
quick aside on youtube, I've recently discovered that it's an absolute TROVE of free patterns for cute designs I actually want to wear. this came after a search for what to make with all my leftover dk yarn (according to google lots of pot holders and ugly shawls for some reason), buying a vest pattern off etsy that ultimately didn't excite me, frogging the entire thing halfway through, and crawling to youtube as a "last resort" only to realize I was the ignorant one all along. and you get video tutorials with the patterns! what's betta than this.
✿ it can function as a headband, skinny scarf, or belt, though I've mostly worn it as a headband. I loathe having hair in my face so it's a great way to keep my hair in place and look cute. I have an idea to make a "hungry caterpillar" version of this with alternating stripes of colors that I think could look cute? we'll see.
current project I'm working on is this mesh star top. (pattern)
✿ saw the thumbnail and immediately knew I needed to try my hand at making this top. loved getting to learn a new stitch (solomon stitch) to make the mesh portion. I'm almost done with this guy and will report back once I'm done. no timeline as I've learned that undoing stitches is just a part of crocheting <3
