According to wikipedia it's kayokyoku. The Japan Times describes it as Showa era pop. Emperor Showa reigned from 1929 to 1989. It has a wide range of influences. Traditional Japanese music, blues, jazz, Latin pop, Euro pop, rock n roll. Iwasaki Hiromi's second album was disco themed.
