[UPDATE 2] Starting on dat glass, jelly skin time. She won't be this transparent (more of a dark-shaded jelly), but this is a good point to understand her complexion.

Any ideas on a name for her~

----------

[UPDATE 1] First sketch (almost?) fully rendered. Got the solidified design down finally, really had to wrestle with what I wanted to execute but I'm extremely happy with how she came out!

Some footnotes for her:

She has essentially a ribbon worm tongue, which extends into her abdomen and is used to wrap and ensnare prey.

Her transparent belly retracts deeply as she shoots this tongue out, and then distends greatly after she pulls them back into her stomach (she is slightly larger proportionately than a human).

She has two stomachs: one in her humanoid belly, one at the chubby base of her fish body. I don't have a distinct purpose for each yet, but I will most certainly explore creative freedoms including clothing digestion/prey digestion.

All of her tendrils, bioluminescent or not, can retract into her skin.

I hope you guys like her design. Finished design and renders to follow soon. Cheers!

[OLD] Howdy all, got a quick early design for the abyssal mermaid. Gonna be some interesting elements in play related to the vore stuff (you’ll see what I mean), but I thought I’d drop some progress.

Colors and render subject to heavy change, this is a very premature render.

Let me know what you think in the comments, and stay tuned!

She's so sick dude, I'm genuinely so hyped !! I love that you didn't go for a pretty faced monstergirl and went sexy cryptid instead. This is really fitting her head and tail are perfect ! Regarding the body transparency, I can't decide really, I find it very original and creative that we can see her "bones" and organs, but on the other hand, I find her a bit more attractive without the apparent bone structure. Maybe her skin should only get transparent when distended. I really still don't know, I do like both options ! Have you yet decided whether her stomach should be in her tail or midsection ?

Again, amazing job dude, I'm already in love with her <3 !!

Aye I'm glad you like it so far! I definitely wanted to go more monstrous for this design, took a while to strike a balance I liked for the head. I do agree on the bone structure, I liked how fun it was to draw moreso than liked it for her design. I'll be tweaking a lot around. And yes, she has two stomachs! One in her abdomen, one in the thigh area/top section of her fish body. There will definitely be some fun, unique stuff with oral vore and prey distention in her stomachs. Stay tuned!

Guest14456

What are the things you'd like to tweak ? I'm quite excited to see that !

DFsDeep

Lots of tweaks, most dominantly the colors and eye shape. Just posted an update on this post. Cheers mate!

She looks amazingly cool in black, I'd even say she looks better than the first iteration. Though, if I may, darker tones might possibly work against you when you try to add transparency. Or maybe not, I definitely don't know. If necessary, you could try to make her two-tone. with her back being darker with a step gradiant to a lighter color on the belly, though that would make her more shark-like than abyssal.

I love the aquamarine colored highlights, that looks very deep-sea like. The bright green (or yellow ? I'm colorblind lol) bioluminescent lights are a great addition and you should definitely keep them ! And when it comes to her eyes, I personally prefered the souless big globes, I found it more fitting for an abyssal theme as well as more ominous !

Guest14456

Maybe you should also consider trying a somewhat light grey-blue tone for her main color. Might looks good as well. In any way, I like that we can still see her skeleton, it's very subtle and clever but not distracting at all, really perfect ! Her tongue looks very fun, too, excellent idea !

DFsDeep

Yessir, she's indeed slightly two-tone (a tad shifted into the teal-grays on her arms and back, and clearer on her belly. She's actually much more transparent than black; it's just that the background is black to simulate the abyss. You might be able to notice it especially on the forearm before the black hands! I fully intended on making the bottom sketch background light gray to illustrate this. Cheers!

As for the eyes, I 100% agree on the pitch black eyes. I have the irises glowing as they are now for the cuter monster vibes, but her eyes will definitely go pitch black when the "mood" is right, you feel?
