I feel like this has something to do with aromantism. The heart representing romantic desires and the flame representing sexual desires. Since we see DG protrayed as a very sexual character, it would make sense he's this way. Maybe even a result of the bullet to the head incident? Being on the asexual/aromantic spectrum can be hard (I know this because I'm on it :_( ) since it feels your missing out on something important that everyone else has. I could be totally wrong though, just my interpretation!
