El Terrible Toreador 16mm (1929) (Patreon)

Here's a 16mm scan of the 1929 Silly Symphony El Terrible Toreador, complete with its original titles from the initial release!

Credit for this preservation goes to my colleague Dave, who acquired this print at auction approximately three years ago. My contribution involved financing the scan and performing grading (the scan was quite dark) to enhance the viewing experience.

For those unfamiliar with animation history, this is the second entry in Disney's groundbreaking "Silly Symphonies" series (following "The Skeleton Dance").

The short’s violent ending echoes the care-free humor of late 1920s cartoons, before Disney pivoted to more family-friendly fare.
