Hey folks,

Here's a sneak peek at my upcoming Bond comic. I've been watching a lot of classic Bond flicks to get a feel for the man and his world.

Two things stood out to me. One is "refinement". I don't mean just in terms of how people act and dress, but also the way the wider world is depicted. Every locale and setting looks like it came out of a luxury handbag commercial. Bond's world is clean and upscale. This was a deliberate choice on Ian Fleming's part, who wanted to depict spying as a glamorous profession masking a brutal game of skullduggery. The ugliness hides just under the gold plating.

The second was "mastery". I love how the Connery years were peak machismo. Bond was a man's man - the ultimate masculine hero. The world either spread its cheeks for him or he forced them open. I initially thought what I had in mind for my story was too fast - "no chick is that easy", etc. But after watching the first few movies, Bond legit bangs every Bond girl within FIVE MINUTES of meeting them. There's, of course, some exceptions - Pussy Galore didn't give it up so easily in Goldfinger. But Bond's batting average is phenomenal! 😙👌

So what I took away from all this is that I needed to make the environments very opulent. There's quality to everything Bond spends his time and money on. And any woman who grabs his attention has to be top-shelf as well. I'm going to try to spend time on creating this, even if it takes more time than I had initially planned. I want to do Bond right.

Anyways, those are just some random brainwaves I've tuned into and wanted to emit out. I'm going out of town to visit family over the Labor Day long weekend. Hope you guys have a great end to your summer!
