Hello. I'm Limgae.

First of all, I'm sorry for telling you this story.

I wanted to overcome it alone without telling anyone.

But I'm having such a hard time right now. I don't know what to do.

I'm so sad and angry so I can't draw.

No one knows that I'm having such a hard time because of this.

I don't have any friends or family that I can talk to.

I'm so confused about how to start this story.

I'm an artist named LIMGAE, and I'm slowly dying.

And I don't see any hope.

I want to struggle to survive somehow, but I don't know what to do.

People are becoming less interested in my works.

It was so painful to see that no matter how hard I draw, I don't get as much attention as before.

I thought that if I draw harder, I could overcome it.

But it's so hard mentally.

More than anything, the fact that I can't see any hope is what's bothering me the most.

My drawing skills have improved compared to before, but I'm slowly dying as an artist.

This is crazy.

In the past, I had the belief (hope) that if my drawing skills improved, people would like me more and I would make more money.

But as time goes by, I am getting worse and dying.

I don't see any hope.

I wanted to figure out the problem and improve it to overcome it.

But I don't know what to do.

Actually, I know.

I knew that I had to completely change my work and art style, but I couldn't say it.

I wanted to overcome it for the people who like my art style.

But it's so hard.

As people lose interest in my work, I gradually lose my motivation for my work, and my work speed continues to slow down.

My work is getting less and less attention, and my financial situation is getting worse.

I'm really grateful to the supporters who give me money, and thanks to them, I'm able to live, but I'm having a really hard time mentally right now.

I don't know how I ended up like this.

I don't know what I did wrong.

I don't see any hope.

Even if my finances are bad, if I see hope, I can endure it, but I don't see any hope for the future.

Last year, LIMGAE didn't want to live this year.

Last year, I thought every day that I wished I could just die.

However, I tried to work hard thinking that this year would really be my last, but it's just so hard these days.

Things haven't been going well lately, and I think I've become emotional because my recent work hasn't been good.

Anyway, I won't give up this year because I think it's my last dance.

I just wanted to talk about this because I'm so mentally exhausted.

Don't worry, at least I won't give up this year.

I just wanted to talk.

I think I need to finish this time Content set and stop thinking about it and start taking action.

If the bad ending is already decided, I'll have to struggle even if people don't like it rather than just adapt to the present.

Thank you for reading the long post.

Have you thought about opening up private commissions again?

LIMGAE

Financial issues are not a big deal. I've never been rich, so I'm used to being poor. Haha I just need hope that things will get better in the future, but all the indicators for me are going down. So I guess I've been having a hard time emotionally lately. Thank you.

LIMGAE

I think I need to let go of my obsession with work quality and details. I don't know how I'll draw my work in the future, but I think I need to change. I might redraw my original work. I don't know what will happen, but I'll try my best, thinking of it as the last.

LIMGAE

If anyone knows how to keep the current art style of LIMGAE and make it better for LIMGAE, please let me know haha..

Irksome

it really come down to the algorithm these days and how much you post in multiple social media

Irksome

And on top of that we are in a age of ai which I absolutely hate in art, but unfortunately it has oversatruated digital sector that creating alot of "same" art that makes it hard for new people to tell if it's ai or not.

Appollyon

I have really loved and been interested in your works over the past few years. Previously, I used to follow your works through reposts, but I wanted to see more and support the artist, so I searched for the source and have been following you until now. Even though it's not much, I will try my best to keep supporting. I hope you can overcome your problems.

Irksome

I absolutely love your art and really wish things turn out well for you.

Japex032

I completely agree that the social media algorithms dictate your visibility alot. It is hard for an artist to survive and stay on the public eye unless they already have the sheer numbers in followers or stay flexible and partake in the latest trends, such as characters and say, art challenges.

Kastralis

Your art style has been improving greatly ever since I've been supporting you since 2019! Don't give up! Original characters can certainly help keeping things interesting for you. From what I've seen with some other artists, perhaps character designs / poses that make for a great 1/6 figure could lead to more inspiration for your work and collaborations with others for new opportunities. Selling art books and posters may even be an option, especially at anime conventions. In terms of reach, sharing previews of your works on other social media platforms like Reddit was how I found you, so perhaps that's the way to keep up with in terms of advertising your works. Other than that, mental health is unfortunately hard to improve, but having good friends around you can certainly help. It's hard to do, but one way to find those connections is going out there and selling copies of your works at those popular conventions. You'll certainly meet other people who appreciate your talents and bring a little more brightness into your life. Wishing for the best for you. Keep up the great work!

LIMGAE

Thank you for advice. Your words are all like dreams to me. Haha. I thought I worked hard to become like you said, but I haven't achieved anything. I want to have hope that I can achieve it in the future, but I can't see that hope, so I'm in a situation where I'm writing a post like this. Haha.. How did I end up like this? I think I need to let go of and change a lot of the things I've done so far. I wish I could do what you said. Thank you.(✿◡‿◡)

LIMGAE

Yes. It's the world of algorithms these days. Haha.. Currently, the places I upload my work are DevianArt, Tiwtter(X), and Pixiv. All three of these places don't show good results for my work. Haha.. I need to upload more often, but that would require me to change my work method and art style. That's bothering me. For now, I'll try to focus on completing my current content set. Haha.. Thank you for advice. Thank you.(✿◡‿◡)

LIMGAE

I thought I didn't need to tell this story to those who like me as an artist. But I think I've been tired since last year. Haha.. I'm sorry.. I've always wanted to tell only fun and good stories to my supporters, but it's not easy. Sorry. I'll try to make myself see hope like I used to. Thank you.(✿◡‿◡)

LIMGAE

The world is changing so fast, and I feel like I've lost my momentum. Haha.. I've lost my motivation and I'm exhausted. I haven't been able to enjoy anything lately. But I hope that by writing this post, I'll feel a little better. I don't think I'll be able to sleep properly today. Haha. I hope that I can quickly finish this time content set and find new hope. Thank you.

Ive never been really good with words in general, and its even more heartbreaking seeing someone you really care for is losing his sanity over time and questioning his own worth nowadays. People sadly come and go so quickly these days, its insane at this point. Many factors could be the reason, why people aren't as hooked anymore as it was years before. especially when f*cking AI is so strongly represent, as it is apparently 'oh so easy content' as one may say, but thats not the point here. The fact i found you by pure accident browsing pixiv back then really shows (to me at least), how influential your content was and STILL is. To this day, ive never found anyone, that draws with so much attention to detail that isn't you. But what would happen, if you take less time for details and focus more on quantity for example? Would people be more interest then? I firmly believe, the outcome wouldn't change much, as people always find a reason to whine. You have improved so much over the years, you cannot deny that fact at all. I could go on, but many things have been said already, i probably would only repeat it if i continue. Take good care of yourself, will you? I really hope, these evil clouds around you vanish one day and bless you with the comforting warmth of sunlight instead. MfG

Competition is really, really harsh when it comes to adult content. That, and times are hard for everyone, everywhere people are struggling to make ends meet. From what I read, I'm under the impression that you obsess over the quality of your work and don't see it bear the fruits you'd expect. The sad reality, and you probably already know this, is that quality is rarely rewarded as much as quantity. I've heard other artists mental well-being seriously damaged by perfectionism. It's ok to make art that's just good enough sometimes. It's alright if it's not perfect, we will still enjoy it. The only one it's bothering is you. Once you learn to let go a little bit, maybe you'll be less mentally exhausted, maybe you'll see the bigger picture of your life more clearly. Finally, it's not your fault. You didn't do anything wrong.

Justin

I too have been a LIMGAE supporter since 2019, in fact it will be 6 years in October, so it saddens me to hear these words from you. I've always been a fan of your style. Your work is always insanely detailed, and your compositions are full of wit. As a somewhat failed artist myself I would just love to have a fraction of what you have. Artistically it's hard to give any feedback, and I'm not even sure you'd want it. Your values, shading, linework are all top notch and it's only gotten better over the years. How are you judging popularity? Just based on social media exposure? Just because people haven't seen it doesn't make you unpopular. Heck if someone was handing out your artwork in Times Square I'm sure many people would be impressed. I think the nature of your work being a bit (more than a bit!) NSFW is kind of a double edged sword. Many people like the naked stuff, but not everyone can see it. I think you could increase your exposure if you mixed in some more less sex oriented things like you did back in the day. Looking at your Sophitia, Albedo, Samus artwork from 2018, you could keep it clean and turn up the spice in later variations. Perhaps, these variations could help your exposure. Also, I'm on bluesky, get on there and I'll follow and like anything you post! You always mention money, but I've said this before but you low ball your patreon fees. You give us like over 20 pictures, different variations of course but crazy detailed masterpieces FOR TWO DOLLARS! I can't speak for everyone but $5 should be the bare minimum. Even someone like Kiko.L charges $5 for a tier with both SFW and NSFW. I personally would be willing to pay more of course because I cancelled my cable TV just to support artists like yourself on Patreon! As for the rest. You've done nothing wrong. I say it all the time don't burn yourself out, don't hurt yourself with these thoughts, with overworking, killing yourself. We are all here for you, we love you. You always say a drawing is bad, or something is bad but bad in your eyes is still good to most of us. You have very high expectations of yourself and I think maybe you need to slowly work at what exactly you expect, and maybe focus on that area for a month or two. Then move on to the next area you think needs improvement and then suddenly, it will all come together. I hope you feel better, and I hope your followers words of encouragement helps you out. We all share your frustration when you get frustrated so don't be afraid to let it out.

Fatt Slice

Just an observation: since I originally started supporting you the "quality" of your art has definitely improved, but the content/themes have taken a sharp turn towards hardcore themes which I could see being part of the reason. While it can work if you find a specific niche of supporters, if you're looking to grow I would recommend producing more, let's say, "popular" themes

Kamatan

I've been supporting you for a long time, and I understand how difficult it must have been to find the right balance between attracting new fans and caring about your current supporters. I realize that your current situation is serious, but if I may share my personal wish, I'd love to see you exploring a wider range of themes—including bright, cheerful illustrations. I do enjoy your darker themes as well, but ideally, I'd like them to be just one part of your diverse artistic expressions.

LIMGAE

Haha.. That's right, my art has improved a lot over the years. That's why it makes me suffer and despair. My drawing skills have improved a lot compared to the past, but the situation has gotten worse. So I can't see hope for the future. Other artists are getting better by maintaining their own identity, but I'm only getting worse. It's been a while since artists who were on a similar way to me started giving up on details. They reduced the weight of background drawing, reduced detail painting, and compromised with reality. I think I have no choice now. Haha. Most people don't look at a picture for more than 3 seconds. So I tried to draw a picture that people would want to look at for more than 3 seconds. But people would rather look at 3 1-second pictures than one 3-second picture. The number of views and "likes" for a picture I drew for 3 hours is similar to the number of views for a picture I drew for a week. Even so, I didn't want to compromise, but I can't help it. Haha. I don't know what will happen in the future, but I think a change is needed. Thank you for your advice.

LIMGAE

Yes.. I knew... I did a lot of research because I wanted to solve the problem. What do people like, and what do other popular artists draw? These days, popular artists don't spend much time on details. Instead, they emphasize the content and quantity of the drawings. As AI art develops, most high-quality art seems to have lost its competitiveness. Artists who draw in a similar way to me were all compromising with reality. I was compromising to some extent, but I think I wasn't bold enough. With the emergence of AI art, the supply of content has increased significantly, but the number of people looking at drawings has decreased. In this era of oversupply, my art has lost its competitiveness. It's sad. In the end, I think I have no choice but to increase quantity rather than quality. Haha.. I don't know how much I can draw at my work speed, but I hope the situation gets better. Thank you for your advice.

LIMGAE

My drawing skills are getting better, but the situation is getting worse, so I'm desperate. Haha.. As AI art has developed, I've thought that the competitiveness of high-quality, detailed art drawn by individuals has weakened a lot. Unless you're drawing for a company. I did a lot of research and study on my own, but I couldn't find the right answer. There were many artists who were popular even though they didn't upload often, and there were many artists who were popular even though their drawings were much rougher than their drawing skills. I didn't know what to do. The way I judge the popularity of my work is through ego search. Haha.. I search for images of my drawings on the web. It's a very bad method. Up until 2018~2020, people quickly shared my drawings when I uploaded them. However, there are fewer and fewer people sharing my drawings, and these days, unless it's a specific fan art, it's not shared. And there are almost no people who find me through DM. Haha.. I thought a lot about SFW work.I adjusted the ratio of "SFW/NSFW work" and "only NSFW work" I tried many things, but the most efficient thing was to upload frequently. The best indicator was when I uploaded Early Access work during my work in 2025. Haha.. I've felt this way for a long time, but people don't seem to be crazy about high-quality drawings anymore. Artists who draw in a similar way to me have long since given up on details. Just like short-form videos on TikTok or Instagram are popular these days, I think drawing quickly and a lot is becoming the answer. I think it's inevitable to survive the onslaught of AI art. I had similar thoughts about patreon fees as you. I actually think I was frustrated. I can't get rich. Haha. So my life won't change even if I earn a little more money in this situation. I just wanted many people to look at my drawings and communicate with me. I thought that even if the sponsorship money is small, I could make a decent profit. And supporters who want to support me more adjust the amount. So I decided to leave it up to the supporters. And these days, everyone is going through a difficult time financially. I thought a lot about the income. I've always felt burdened by the sponsorship amount. So I thought I wanted to draw comfortably at a low price, and if I had time, I was going to do a commission. But everything didn't go as I thought. People said my commission was expensive. It was mentally difficult to do a commission for a lower price, so it was better to just Request work for free. I think the most convenient thing for me is to meet many supporters at a low price. Actually, I think this personal problem of mine is TMI. I thought I didn't need to tell my supporters. But I couldn't overcome it. It would have been best to go to a psychiatric hospital. Haha.. But the hospital is far away, so I can't go. Haha.. Anyway, the most urgent thing right now is to finish this content set and think about how I'm going to live next month. Haha.. Thank you for your advice and encouragement. I don't know if I can overcome it, but I'll do my best. And I've seen Blue Sky before, but I didn't know that Join was free. I think it would be a good idea to start something new here. Haha.. Thank you for the information.

Reichiquitavibin

That hurts to hear. I love your art style and I think it’s unique. I wish more people would appreciate it, but I can’t help that. I hope you know that you are very talented and not everything has to be perfect and I’ll be here until the end. I hope you feel better soon

LIMGAE

Haha.. It's sad. I've been thinking about that part to some extent. I knew what I had to do to become popular, but there were artists who were popular without doing that. I wanted to be like them. But I guess I couldn't. Haha.. I should've decided on a clear direction, but I think I tried to find a balance. When I started my original work, I decided to draw hard work, but it didn't work out well. Haha.. I've been worrying about which direction to go. I started because I wanted to draw what I like, but in the end, I wonder if I have to compromise with reality here too. My head hurts so much. First, I have to finish the next work quickly. Haha. Thank you for the advice. Thank you!(✿◡‿◡)

LIMGAE

Haha.. My favorite genre is not minor, but it's not major either. Haha.. It's sad. Sometimes I want to draw bright and cheerful pictures. But I don't know. I just have to draw freely without pressure, but I can't control myself. Anyway, since it's a time when change is needed, I'll definitely try to change this time. Thank you for your advice. Thank you(✿◡‿◡)

LIMGAE

Art styles like mine don't seem to survive in this day and age where speed is everything. Haha.. I don't know why I ended up like this, so I think it's all my fault. I have to draw while chasing popular series and trends, but I didn't have the talent or luck to follow that path. If I didn't have talent, I would have to work hard, but I'm getting lazier and lazier. Haha.. It's a headache. I have to finish the next works quickly and think about how to change. Thank you.(✿◡‿◡)

Reichiquitavibin

I understand how you feel but your being way too hard on yourself. I would be confident to say that none of your supporter care how long something takes or if it’s trendy. I think they’d care that you enjoy your work. I love your art, and I hope you keep making more

Charm

It hurts to hear that you feel that you don't see any hope, I love your art style and I think that it looks amazing!, I truly think that there are a lot of people that support you and want to see you feel better, and if you need a break , or to talk to someone you should do so - I would even suggest opening a discord server if you would like to do so, to interact with your supporters - perhaps that will make you feel better. I'll be here to support you until the end, please love and appreciate yourself more! :)

LIMGAE

Haha.. I think the best way is to communicate through works. But I couldn't do that. Haha.. I shouldn't have written something like this, but I think LIMGAE was really hard. I feel gloomy even when I try to think positively. Haha.. I've thought that I need to make a change. First of all, the current LIMGAE has failed. I think this is my last chance. Haha.. There's no guarantee that things will get better just because I make a change, but I still have to try. Thank you.(✿◡‿◡)
