Hello patrons! This is it! The final name showdown. In this post you'll have the ability to vote on the official name for each member of the Good Boye Guild. The link to the poll is at the end of the post, but if you'd like to read more about how the selection process went down, I wrote some blurbs about that below!

How the process worked:

I asked people to submit suggestions here and across all social platforms

I made note of names that were repeatedly suggested as well as ones I felt captured the characters' personalities well. Variations of the same name were edited into one suggestion (ie Steel and Steele were just changed to Steel).

IMPORTANT SIDE NOTE: While I usually don't focus on gender for my dog characters, I recognize that many people (myself included) often default to assuming the dogs are male unless specifically stated otherwise.

However, because I received messages about it from multiple readers, I decided to just go ahead and designate the gender of the dogs. Though this will never affect their personalities or the story/comics, I understand why it may be important for some people to know. That being said:

The barbarian, bard, and wizard are male. The rogue and cleric are female.

This shouldn't impact the final vote, but I wanted to point it out just in case any of you had questions about it. When the final names are announced publicly I'll be sure to make specific note of this to clear up any potential confusion for other readers.

I narrowed the selection

This was the tough part. Mainly because I received thousands of comments across my pages, which was incredibly exciting yet also slightly overwhelming to see. I decided to make a 'semi-finals' list of no more than 30 names per character (And believe me, it was tough just cutting it down to that amount)

I tried to choose several names from each platform (Insta, Patreon, Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook) so there was equal representation from each site.

For those interested, here's the list of names that made it to the semi-final round. Emphasis on the fact that I wanted to include way more, but at some point, I needed to make tough calls and cut down the options:

I narrowed the selection even more

From the semi-finals list, I narrowed names down further to the top five choices. These were all options I felt would fit the characters well if selected aka what I called the "heart factor". The names just had to resonate with me on various levels. This, unfortunately, weeded out very popular but unusable choices like "Gandalf" for the Wizard. As great as the name is, I didn't want to use something that could overshadow the character themselves (I also wanted to steer clear of anything even remotely close to copyright infringement cus I'm paranoid like that)

After that, I was left with the following name selections for our party of puppers:

This is where you come in!

As patrons, the final decision is in your hands! You have the option to vote on the top five name choices and pick the official name for each party member. I put together a survey via SurveyMonkey to gather your votes on names.

I will officially close the poll on Thursday March 5 at 11:59pm CST so I can announce the names publicly the following day. So you have until then to vote!

Final Notes:

This was a really fun process and I appreciate your enthusiasm and participation! Giving these pups names will go a long way toward establishing them as real characters. Plus, since you and other readers play such a big part in my works, I wanted you all to have some part in their development as characters. There are many more comics to come featuring these good boyes, and I'm so thankful to have you all along for the ride as readers and patrons. Thank you for continuing to support me and these works!
