Howdy patrons,
It’s been a hot minute since I’ve popped in with an update! I like to keep you filled in on the state of things at Doodle HQ, and lately there’s been A LOT happening.
Firstly, I apologize for being quiet on Patreon lately. A lot of my focus and energy has been on the Enamel Pin Kickstarter. Half of February and most of March was spent planning, putting together the campaign, and finishing up the enamel pin designs. While the campaign was live, I was fielding questions, promoting on social media, streaming, and posting as many new comics as possible. Now that the campaign is over, I’ve been swamped with backer support, finalizing designs for production, and sorting out other logistics for the project.
Thanks for your patience while I’ve been dealing with that. It’s been a lot, and I truly appreciate you guys hanging in there while I’ve been sorting everything out. I tried to keep up with patron perks during that time, but I know a few things slipped through the cracks. My hope is that things will slow down once the pins begin production at the end of this month, then I can return my focus to the Patreon page.
On a more personal note, I want to provide some context for why this Kickstarter came out of nowhere. The story’s a bit of a rollercoaster, but it has a happy ending, so bare with me!
For those unaware, Doodle for Food has been my full-time job since 2015. However, due to long-term projects ending, the pandemic, and other unfortunately timed events, I was forced to consider putting the business on hold to look for full-time employment elsewhere. This was something I wanted to avoid at all costs, so I went into emergency planning mode.
After some deliberation, I decided a Kickstarter to produce enamel pin merchandise would give me the greatest chance of continuing the business. Despite my nerves, I was incredibly proud of the pins and what I was presenting to the world. The project launched in April and was funded within four hours. By the end of the month, the campaign raised over 1000% of its funding goal.
I couldn’t share this while everything was happening, but now that things have settled down I wanted to let you know and emphasize how important your support has been.
As patrons, you’ve helped keep the comics going through some tough times. If you chose to back the Kickstarter as well, you helped ensure that I can keep doing this full-time. The support of this community has helped keep the lights on at Doodle HQ, and I’m incredibly grateful for that.
So cheers to the continuation of these goofy comics. It wouldn’t be possible without you all!
Sincerely with much love,Megan
