Indy was probably expecting as bad or worse. I’m sure he prepared himself for whatever outcome. It’s sad, because for all Indy knows, it could be likely over then and there. I don’t think that it will, but I’m still interested in how Pen processes this.

Pen, for goodness sake, you best make up for this. Where is Rosa when you need her? She would tear your horns off for this one. Also, the little look of hope from Indy before Pen chickened out makes me want to reach through the screen and physically march Pen back to the table until he says what he is really feeling. All frustrations aside, this comic has had its talons in me since the first pages of chapter 3, and i couldn't ask for better writing, or artwork. I would happily back and purchase hard copies of every chapter.

This is honestly a realistic reaction imo. We’re experiencing the story in weekly chunks for the sake of the story, I can only imagine how Pen feels listening to Indy in real time. It’d be off-putting if Pen was all cliché movie-esque like, “oh but I love him! I’ll forgive him as many times as it takes!”. Indy’s story is a lot to process, and Pen’s reaction is pretty justified imo. Granted, it’s messy/awkward and leaves them in a shaky place, but shaky doesn’t always mean bad. The ground may be uneven, but they’re still standing. And in a way, this may bring them closer. Can’t wait for the next few pages to see Pen’s thought process.

Pen, you can still turn around and apologize and tell him the truth, that you want to be with him but you need to get past the fear -- all that horrific fear you never once felt a bit of while you were spending the entire day at his house. You're not afraid of *him* -- you never have been; he's never given you a reason. Alan gave you this fear; you didn't wake up with it this morning. It should belong to Alan, and he should stop spreading it around. You're afraid to show your heart to anyone; so scared you can't even say something nice to make Indy feel better when you know that's exactly what he needs ... well, here's some more motivation: It'll make *you* feel better, too. Might make that lecture class easier to absorb.

I keep seeing Pen do the same thing repeatedly, thinking of something appropriate to say, *wanting* to say it, yet blurting out something nearly the opposite, like this, so bad he himself had to cringe even as he said it, and yet doing nothing to repair the damage ... makes me wonder if he doesn't have some kind of syndrome of his own. He seems to only do it in stressful situations, though, and that gives me hope: get him happily situated with Indy and he'll be fine. I think he's getting better, though; I really expected him to bolt earlier in this meeting, when he stood up and Indy had to beg him to stay and listen ...

Pen wouldn't waste those kinds of sentiments on someone else, though, I'm pretty sure he saves the worst ones for himself, and he'll be practicing soon if he doesn't turn around *now* and do something to fix the mess he just made. Good luck paying attention in that lecture class.
