Watching this episode really messed me up because of how tragic it was. So sad but so good.

You know, a common theme in this show is to not make assumptions. Don't speak on anything that isn't concrete. It's something that maomao's adoptive father often told her, and she tries to follow it. Lakan's impression on most people in and outside the show is a good example of why one should follow that advice.

In lakan's case, his inabilty to recognize faces is more of a real medical condition rather then mental. Its called face blindness, and correct me if im wrong, but you're born with it and it doesn't go away. Most with face blindness use other things like voice, clothing, personality, etc to try and remember those close to them.

Lakan usually visited the mom every 3 months, and this time it would be 6 months (he sent a letter for that). I think a war happened so it become 3 years. Miscommunication is big here; both the postage, certain people keeping letters a secret from others (notice how lakan didn't get any of the mom's letters), people not being upfront with their feelings, and Lakan himself possibly being neodivergent (and therefore not the best at understanding others subtext).

I felt so bad for hatin on Monocle dude the whole series and then to find out that he had it rough too. It's why you can't trust anime man. You think you know and then they flip the script on you. 😂 Oh and to answer Terence, Lankin was probably not even given a chance to send anything. Also he thought that it would be a trip around the block for 6 months do even if he sent something he was gone so much longer. 🤔 Also she set him up for the pregnancy. It's why she dictated when he came to visit next. She knows her time of the month and the danger zone. She wanted it to happen so he could buy her out at a cheaper price but when he never came back...well you can figure the rest out. 🤓
