I was worried how they would handle this little bit of the story, especially adapting the childlike artwork used in this chapter, but they did it about as well as they could. She was a child completely unaware what was happening to her and fully believed it to be love. Also, the anime was MORE explicit about what happened than the manga. They don’t shy from it at all and are far more open about what that monster did to her. The manga has only a few pages detected to it and, perhaps more importantly, it only stays within the childlike artwork. The anime shows her naked afterwards, so there is absolutely no doubt about what he did to her. She is an unbelievably emotionally stunted and traumatized child, but what makes it even worse is that our characters show up to possibly help her later and she gets attacked the instant she’s left alone. They absolutely planned to come back to her, yet the moment she is alone and getting a little hope it is ripped away again. Also, one little detail about Amo’s design. Her outfit initially seems skimpy and fanservicey, but it was likely an outfit the trafficker made her wear. Which makes it even worse. She probably still wears it because she associates it with that horrific form of love, which she’s come to believe it’s normal.

But...yeah, it's one of those episodes that makes me sad, hopeful then sad again. No wonder why she is the way she is. And then she ends up being more forgiving and understanding. 😟 I want everyone that was arguing with me last week to apologize, lol!
