Rick Hound

Yeah even with all the lore in Fate, St. Germain is still very tightlipped on what he is. He has some ability to create devices like cars in eras long before the combustion engine. He has personal knowledge of people millennia before.

I think he’s Robin Hood by her adjacent because the love for music, the wandering king, and loxley…

So this episode lightly touched on it, but in both reality and Fate Richard has a VERY mixed legacy. In both he is closely tied to stories of myth like his love for the Arthurian myths, the story of Robin Hood, and his own campaign in the Third Crusade where he was a pinnacle of chivalry and successful commander. He rightfully earned fame for centuries as this shining example of a warrior king. But, like this episode mentioned, he also only ruled for a mere 10 years and spent the VAST majority of that time outside his empire. He spent almost all of his reign either at war (which was expensive) or in captivity (which was also expensive when his ransom cost 3 years of England’s annual income). Unsurprisingly, this put a LOT of strain on the economy. You then have him die without an heir, hand this entire empire to a rather incompetent king, and within 15 years of his death almost all of his Empire’s territory in France is gone, there was a civil war, and introduced the Magna Carta for the first time to limit the powers of the English kings. He makes for such an interesting Servant, even before you take in the Fate addition that he is the last English king that lived in an era of magic and myth. It makes him absolutely full of contradictions. He is simultaneously a chivalric hero from an age of myths and a very real king that some say failed his nation. In more fun pure Fate lore though: you briefly see a flashback of Richard fighting with someone in Assassins eyes. That is him fighting alongside one of the Hassan-i-Sabbah, a leader of the organization 99% of Assassin servants come from. In Fate lore a Dead Apostle interrupts the Third Crusade so Richard, Saladin, and the Hassan-i-Sabbah of that time unite to fight him. Which is why she is eager to team up with him in the future, as he helped one of her predecessors defeat a similar monster. None of this will probably be elaborated on too much in the show, as it’s basically a small footnote in their history (although it sounds sick and I’d love to see it).

Gilgamesh has a noble phantasm that lets him see the future, and its OP as heck. He can see a bunch of different futures and what actions he needs to take to get the one he wants. The only reason he ever loses is because he almost always immediately turns it off, because it would make things boring. That’s how he knows what’s going on with Enkidu. In the canyon battle episode, Gilgamesh mentioned that his eyes couldn’t be fooled by the illusion. That was him talking about his clairvoyance.
