I don’t think anyone thought he was a mad scientist…he was shown as a communist politician and from his actions in the movie we already knew he was a creep..Like when he said he wished he got to the one girl when she was younger or as he put it when she was ripe…or when he fell to his knees and started gushing when he saw Tanya in the sky.
