Just Another Josh

I always love how the core concept of this entire show is someone thinking “isn’t it kinda interesting how drills and DNA are both spirals?”. Then it goes absolutely wild from there. Simon’s big final speech about how they evolve turn by turn like a drill is basically the moral of the entire story, to move forward no matter what and to always be one step better than you were before. It’s a wild ride and one of the most ridiculous concepts in any anime, but it’s so sincere with its message. As silly as the final fight gets, it is a direct continuation of that idea to evolve second by second. It’s also why them choosing to leave the dead to rest is such an important choice, because those deaths were one of the many turns that pushed them forward. Simon could 100% use his power to bring them back, it wouldn’t even be that hard, but he chooses not to. Undoing any decision would go against the entire concept of the spiral, to never stop moving forward. It’s rare you have a show be simultaneously this ridiculous and this sincere.
