The dream that the machine had when 9S hacked is a scene in Nier Replicant which is the prequel to automata as it takes place in the same world 6000 years before. But nothing to deep to think about. Whats nice about the Nier games is you can jump into Automata without knowing replicant and still enjoy what it will deliver

This episode is the one that cemented the anime for me. Rather than sci fi, now it feels more dystopian which I prefer. Hey Javon, does the game go back to space or stay on earth, just curious. Oh and I am really looking forward to Adam and Eve! ^-^
