This episode served as another look and piece of the puzzle to Rose and the Gemwar. We're watching the show through Steven's perspective, so we only know what anyone tells him about the war, problem is it's from their perspective and never the full picture. To pearl Rose defeated homeworld and won, Garnet says that Rose (not won) defended the earth, Peridot (a homeworld gem) on the moonbase said that Rose just delayed the inevitable, And now Bismuth (cake's va btw) says that it's Rose's fault they lost. And with what we see they're all correct to some extent, we're seeing how layered Rose was as a character.

BTW “Shattered” basically just means kill but since its a PG cartoon they cant say “kill” or “die” that much, only sparingly. Mainly in foreign countries censorship. Like episodes like this wouldnt have been able to air if they used those words here instead of shattered. All this just to say remember what they mean when they say “shattered” 🫣

Hey, would you consider making playlists of every series/movie you react to so it can be easier to find? Another great reaction btw!

if theres anything I take of note from this episode, it is the first time in the series that we've heard from someone ON OUR SIDE that rose wasn't perfect. like genuinely- despite the disagreement bismuth and rose must have had, despite the fight- everything, she made the choice to completely lie about her existence. to the gems. Theres a timeline out there where bismuth was never found. Never recovered. she might as well have been dead. Thats.. kinda fucked up. Especially for the character of Rose as we know her.
