I go sooo back and forth on the Ronaldo eps. Most of them I don't mind, and I think they benefit from a second viewing - once you have no expectations of Ronlado, it's easier to appreciate his use as a vehicle for humor, or pushing Steven in ways most other characters don't (making him frustrated, snappy, etc.) And props to the VA, I think they genuinely kill all his line deliveries. The one in this batch is DEFINITELY the roughest, though. There are a couple good bits, but it's mostly him being really annoying, and I think the main issue is that it doesn't feel like it's adding to much story OR character-wise? Particularly disappointing since "what does it mean to be a REAL Crystal Gem?" is something that could've been a legitimately interesting question to explore, but the execution is way off in that case. Even speaking as someone who doesn't hate the episode, I always sigh when its time comes during a reaction series and I'm NOT surprised to hear it's the lowest rated episode of the whole show, lol.

I think “Rocknaldo” suffers because it was more message than organic storytelling. I do think it is a legitimately important message to get across, especially these days with online fighting and trolling being what it is, but this was clearly not about story or character, and for a show that is usually so strong on those fronts, this episode sticks out like a sore thumb. Good news is that you got that episode out of the way. “Storm in a Room” hits so hard. It’s hard for me to even write about it. There’s so many layers to it and it’s Steven arguably at his darkest so far in this series.

The amount of foreshadowing is impeccable

I think I watched rocknaldo once when it aired and never again. And ive seen some of these episodes like 30 times.
